No but it gives other teams opportunities to speak to the players in the final year of their contract as they know when they take the player on a free transfer...
FA Women's Cup Round 2 today many games postponed due to bad weather. A tier 7 seven team made it to Round 3 which is amazing. Tier 2 teams ( Championship) will enter in the next round. Couple of games today abandoned towards the end.Long Eaton 6-0 Netherton abandoned due to snow after 80 mins.Gillingham 2-0 Actonians abandoned after 88 minutes due to an injury for Actonians. Not sure whether results stand or not.— Rich Laverty (@RichJLaverty) November 28, 2021 Those two games will have to be replayed.
That is impressive for tier 7 team to get up there. How can they abandon a game that was nearly finished in 88th min based on an injury?
Games are often abandoned after a very serious player injury in the UK. I have seen one or two of thoses.

The Dutch played Belarus on October 26, and it was said Groenen picked up her hamstring injury on international duty. (She was subbed out right after the Dutch went up 2-0 but also right after getting fouled on the free kick before the goal.) It's now December 3 (5.5 weeks later), and she's still in rehab and not available for the weekend Conti Cup match vs Leicester. Wonderful.
Well, I thought that before last season's FA Cup match, and I'm assuming Stoney thought so too when she let both Groenen and Press take off early. Regardless, you're right, but at the moment, I'm not overly optimistic about her getting any minutes vs Brighton and Villa in the league and Everton in the Conti Cup.
Chelsea just defeated Arsenal 3-0 for the FAcup championship. I know it is still a little early but if Chelsea stays healthy, no way they are not winning the league again. Arsenal will be like ManCity last season. Full of talents and winning effortlessly till playoffs/championship games are on the line and they crumble. I really hope they will fare a little better this time against Barca on the 9th...
3-0 sounds about right. Arsenal to Chelsea is like Atletico women to Barcelona. Good team but not in the area code. Might upset them when all the cards in the universe are aligned, but that's about it. Chelsea on paper is IMHO the best team on the planet, even better than Barcelona.
Leicester City beat Man United. Surprised on that one. Was expecting Man United to take care of them.
Whoa, I don't know about that. I think the Barcelona midfield is a bit overhyped by some, but Patri - Aitana (the one I rate the most) - Alexia is an absolutely elite trio. I would definitely rate them above any two of Leupolz, Ji, Ingle, and Fleming. I also rate Barcelona's defense as better than Chelsea's. Where Chelsea does compete in my opinion is their front line of Harder, Kerr, and Kirby (with Fleming doing well there recently in Harder's absence), but Martens - Hermoso/Oshoala - Graham Hansen is every bit as good when in form.
The match wasn't televised anywhere, so I can't really say anything about it specifically. All I've seen is the PK shootout. The official social media accounts posted Russo's goal, but for some reason, the post is geoblocked outside of the UK despite the match not being televised anywhere. Skinner's post-match interview is up online. Apparently, a highlight video will be put out tomorrow. Based on social media posts, seems like Zelem had her shooting boots on from outside of the box, but she struggled from inside the box. A lot of fans remain annoyed with Skinner's use of Boe Risa so far. I get it, and she was not originally penciled in to start today's match. She ended up playing the full 90 though, and at this point, I'm assuming she didn't do much that was noteworthy. (Boe Risa replaced Jones in the starting 11, and I think it's noteworthy that Skinner was willing to give Jones the start in a match where rotation/rest wasn't needed.) Seems like Ladd played at CB like she does for Wales when she came in today. For a team with zero points in the league so far, this Leicester team has held it together scoreline wise pretty well. I think Brighton were lucky to beat them, they only lost to Everton in the league on a late winner, and Chelsea beat them with two late goals. I was expecting Man United to win this match, but I'm not that surprised they didn't.
Chelsea's frontline is as better as Barca in my opinion. It is the midfield that sets Barca miles ahead of any competition. I honestly believe if Chelsea reinforced or tweak their midfield then things wont be as lopsided (at least).
Across a whole season, true. I absolutely stand by Martens being THE difference in last season's UWCL final (elite world-class play preceding every Barcelona goal) with star support from Graham Hansen while Harder missed two good chances (at least for her) in the first half and Kerr and Kirby weren't much of an influence. (I guess part of that is also Barcelona's defense being better than Chelsea's in my opinion.)
Barcelona remembered Wolfsburg the year before and came to play. Chelsea just put in a stinker. Will be a hell of a game if they cross paths again this year.
By the way: the way teams qualifying from the group stage will be paired in the quarter-finals is already known or will there be a draw to determine it?
Quarterfinals and semi-finals will be drawn on 20th December. Runners-up will play the first leg of the quarterfinal at home against a group winner from a different group.
Barca is just honestly all-around better but their midfield in particular is beyond extraordinary. I honestly would love for Chelsea to give them a more equal fight in the CL but a drastic shift needs to be done and so far it looks like they have the same exact squad/tactics from last season hence I don't see any competition against Barca. Well maybe OL but I will reserve my judgement for now. As far as Arsenal, no way they will go far on both CL and WSL. Poor backline and mediocre midfield.
ESPN UK @ESPNUK 5h Chelsea women's team received £25,000 for winning the FA Cup, that's less than the number of fans in attendance.
They don't need to change anything, they just need to show up to play. And I'm a Barca fan and not a Chelsea fan.
