agree. Wow. I wonder if Trask wanted to go back to pro game. Doesn't seem like a good professional move for him - doubt it as well.
It's a change in leadership announcement which is never a good thing from the coach's perspective. Not even a thank you from the athletic department. https://uwbadgers.com/news/2021/11/12/mens-soccer-wisconsin-making-mens-soccer-coaching-change.aspx
For Wisconsin here are a few names who come to mind who could be a good fit. Neil Jones (Loyola Chicago) Big Ten experience @Northwestern Paul Snape (Butler) Big Ten experience @Michigan Kylie Stannard (Yale) Big ten experience @Michigan State Ryan Swan (NIU) Ger Coppinger (Akron) Other jobs that could open up if their athletic departments ran men’s soccer like BBALL/Football -Dartmouth (progressively worse each year) -Brown (have missed the tournament for 10+ years now) -NC State (wildly underachieving) -George Mason (Bolowich could be regretting his decision to return) -UConn (Ray Reid may be ready to call it quits) -Wofford (Haven’t seen progress)
There goes Brown. https://brownbears.com/news/2021/11...to-field-hockey-and-mens-soccer-programs.aspx

Nice to see Seabolt get a second chance. Did a nice job at WVU before he had some, uh, run-ins, with the NCAA. Went to Missouri State as an assistant and the program seemed to be on the upside since he got there.

"Ray Reid has retired" I was going to predict that, in the aftermath: but didn't because it's not very nice. But I thought it could happen and whether it was forced or not IDK? I think they expected to walk through new league --the BE--in their new stadium for '21, and it didn't happen. Big job should get some interesting inquiries. Of the two top fwds in the state 1 committed, the other signed with Providence.
Given the holidays are coming up, I'm sure that it can wait for February doldrums. But, I am thrilled to see Ray Reid leaving. He is one of the NCAA college coaches that I despise. Good riddance, ass wipe.
This is a multifaceted one. On the one hand, the guy won. He won a lot at D-II SoConState, where he won a couple of national titles, and he won at UConn, at least early in his career. He also produced players, from Hermann winners like Chris Gbandi to current international standouts like Andre Blake and Cyle Larin. He, or folks on his staff, clearly had an eye for talent. But, the other side of the Ray Reid coin is what did he do too make American soccer better? To promote the game? To make it better for American players? He recruited internationally way more than he needed to at a top program. Almost all his elite players were foreign. He discouraged players from leaving school early, often to their detriment. Look no further than Gbandi, who he cajoled into returning for his senior year only to do his knee and never be the same. And, of course, as most here know, he did very little to promote his program, especially incoming recruits. It was all tolerable when he was winning but he stopped doing that much a few years ago and despite having Blake and Larin, failed to make an impact nationally. It really is a mixed legacy. Only a handful of coaches have won NCAA titles in D-II and D-I - Bob Guelker, Tom Fitzgerald, Jeremy Gunn and Reid. That's not insignificant. His 2000 team was really good and a lot of fun and he produced several pros. But, it feels like it could have been so much more if he'd done things a little differently.

I will add that Ray is a giant jackass, egotistical and more about himself and to a lesser degree his program than he is about his kids.
Who are the front runners for Wisconsin & UCONN besides Gbandi? Two interesting + big jobs, Wisconsin state salaries lists Trask as making over 300k, surely there is a typo!!
Salary listed for 2021 is $168K. No camps the past two years. That is about average for a P5 coach. https://madison.com/uw-salary-datab...sation-2018-details/615f527dc57e3207211cdc72/
