The Union are hosting the conference finals. Un - freaking - believable By the way, this morning when I turned on my TV it was still set for FS1. Angola happened to be playing some other African nation and Rais M'bohli blocked a PK. Rais M'bohli - We've come a long way, baby!
So glad to not have to play the Revs and hoping to destroy NYCFC on Sunday. Imagine winning the Suppoter's Shield followed by winning MLS Cup the next season. So weird!
I am more than delighted that that jerk Castellanos will not play. Saw the U at the baseball ground a few years ago and he dived for a couple of pks. Casper was in good form that day, though. How long is it since we said that?
So I really see you guys winning this upcoming match. Should my club win in Portland? I will likely make the trip with my son and daughter. Any advice on hotels near the stadium?
No Not much near stadium- stay in center city, many hotel choices, a lot of other things to see and do. If you need to be nearer stadium, there are also a few options near the airport.
There are some hotels in the town of Essington, between the airport and Chester. Finding something in Chester itself, a city of 33,000 without a single grocery store, could be a challenge.
This. If the only thing you are going to do is the soccer game, I would recommend an "airport" hotel. If you are going to stretch this into a tourism trip, I would recommend either "center city" or the historic/ Independence mall area.
First I had to Google the meaning of that phrase, and now I agree with you! Hopefully Sergio has snapped out of whatever was wrong with him last game.
"There’s been a lot of emotion, uniqueness this week-we were unable to train yesterday due to players going in health & safety protocols of MLS. We were able to return today. We will follow league protocol with hope of having as many players as possible for Sunday." -Coach Curtin What the hell does that mean? Anyone seen any updates?
https://phillysoccerpage.net/2021/12/03/union-dealing-with-covid-issues-ahead-of-sundays-match/ "Update: Matt De George of the Delco Times reports that “Leon Flach, Olivier Mbaizo, Kacper Przybylko, Daniel Gazdag, Jamiro Monteiro and most of the youthful Homegrown contingent” practiced on Friday. Notable absences from that list include goalkeeper Andre Blake, defenders Jakob Glesnes, Jack Elliott, and Kai Wagner, and midfielders Alejandro Bedoya and Jose Martinez." FML
The league isn’t going to postpone the game. Our choices will be get whoever we can to play or forfeit.
September 2018. Home game vs. a strong SKC just 3 days before an Open Cup final in Houston. Curtin rests 6 players. Union win 2-0 with 2 goals from a player most fans had given up on. Who will be our Jay Simpson this time?
So if we made it this far and now have to cobble together a team, I’m going to throw up. I hope this isn’t as bad as it seems…
Something similar happened a few weeks ago in a Portuguese league game. One side could only dress nine players because COVID went through their team, one of whom was their backup GK as an outfield player. They were getting mauled, then a couple players got hurt, and they had to forfeit the match. I think FIFA laws say a team has to forfeit if they can't field at least seven players. Hopefully NYFCs pregame meal contains undercooked meat, and they also have to forfeit so the league will be forced to postpone the match.
