Yes, but who could have foreseen that he’d do that? [/sarcasm]

TT will not be happy with this game, mostly the glaring defensive lapses and inability to score despite possessions and shots. Question will be what he does about it.

Imagine Lukaku will start up top next game, assuming he came off fit. Wonder what other adjustments he makes.

He started the Juve game already, so it's not like he has not started since his return.

I'll be interested. It's always kinda interesting how TT reads a game - and also manages minutes for a very crowded Dec. I can't say I have a lot of confidence that I totally know how TT thinks.

FWIW, UK media is giving Puli a 'pass' for his 15 minutes. Usually late subs are not given evaluated in detail, so it's more of a pass/fail thing.

    https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/fixtures-results/chelsea-player-ratings-man-utd-22301660

    Christian Pulisic (for Alonso, 77')

Played right wing-back for his 13 minutes of action. 6

    https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...ted-antonio-rudiger-thiago-silva-b968751.html

    Christian Pulisic (Alonso 78’)

One outrageous piece of control to rescue a wayward Ziyech pass but otherwise unable to impact the game.

    https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/16877473/chelsea-player-ratings-jorginho-penalty-man-utd/

Christian Pulisic for Alonso (77 mins) - N/A

Not enough time to have an impact.

    https://theprideoflondon.com/2021/11/28/chelsea-player-ratings-blues-undo-united/

Christian Pulisic (Right Wingback, Sub): 6/10
The American international came on for Marcos Alonso and played in the right wingback role for the last 13 minutes of the game. We might see more of this in the upcoming busy Christmas period.

    https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...er-united-player-ratings-from-stamford-bridge

Christian Pulisic (for Hudson-Odoi 78) The American was dangerous after coming on to play at right wing-back, 6

In short, he gets his usual 6.

Seemingly zero admission that CP laid the winner on a platter for Rudiger in the dying seconds. "No impact" is in the eye the beholder, it seems. A "golden chance" per the Standard. The Standard also recognizes CP's "outrageous piece of control to rescue a wayward Ziyech pass," but game him no mentioned credit for the perfect cross to Rudiger.

Odoi and Werner (and maybe Ziyech) earned some "rest time" for the next match so hopefully Pulisic, Mount and Lukaku are rotated in to start up front. What is up with Havertz ?

Yeah that's stupid to say no impact. He also initiated the great link up play with Mount and Werner that Wan-Bissaka blocked

As much as people want to blame the coach when the outcome of the game is not to their liking, but can't really fault TT much today besides the late subs.

Today's results are due to two key factors.

1 - Moronic mistakes (Jorgie, Mendy)
2 - Incompetent finishing. Chelsea has 24 shots today, and zero goal. That's horrible

Carrick is the one who made the mistake, bringing in Ronaldo and changing the shape of the attack just when United were getting momentum.

I think overall Chelsea was a great experience for CP. But to reach his full potential he needs to start and carry a team on his back. He has Ballon D’Oro potential but he can't reach that on the bench. My 2 cents.

Just watch Tuchel flip the script next match at Watford and start:

    -------- Lukaku------
    Mount-----------Pulisic

Isn't Lukaku coming off an injury? Sometimes clubs think of realistic things (e.g. lack of fitness) before fantasy things (a player beating his former team).

Are you kidding me? He was definitely impactful and combined well with other Chelsea attackers. How did you miss the incredible cross to Rudiger?

I'm still of the belief that he can play well enough to be undroppable for Tuchel. He's the best wing option even with very good teammates

Just par for the course. I am not sure why anyone on these board would even pay attention to the UK media. CP is only going to get rave reviews if he scores. That final pass was a thing of beauty. Should have been an assist for the game-winner. Wes also had a perfect long ball over the top in his last game that should have resulted in a goal. Assist numbers are fickle things.

I also think TT waited too long however. Chelski looked more dangerous with the fresh legs. I thought he'd make changes around 60 mins.

I think this idiom in British means "didn't change the result", not, "didn't have an effect".

I know that NBC re-upped their rights to the Premier League, but can someone who knows the details post? Will the games air on both the USA channel and Peacock, or air exclusively on Peacock? If the latter, that pisses me off because on Peacock, you either join games already in progress, or wait until the game is over to watch. And of course, there's no recording via streaming so that's out...

Tuchel believes in rotation. Good for Chelsea, good for him, maybe not so good for individual players.

He needed to "rotate earlier" when his starters were not producing results. He did not provide enough time for his subs to have a useful impact.

It's a funny sport. If Rudiger scores that final chance, then Tuchel would have again demonstrated his genius.

But I agree, TT waited too long to start subbing. Sancho scored at 50'. No need to panic at that point, but every reason to start the wheels turning. Jorginho didn't tie things up until 69', and we had to wait almost another 10 minutes for Mount and Pulisic (78'). Lukaku came on still later (82') - if the big guy can't yet play 15-20 minutes, then don't bother.
