US citizens and permanent residents are not banned from coming back to the US from those countries and there are no quarantine restrictions, so unless the new variant is checking passports before infecting someone, the ban isn't going to do much.

Exactly. You...you specifically, need to wait 10 years. BTW, what is this source of the mythical 10 years?

And why do you ignore those who have posted links to the use of mRNA vaccines which are well over 10 years old?

As was noted with the other continuing troll, they are spreading mis and dis-information which needs to be countered quickly and hard least the non-participants/watchers/observers think their line of falsehoods is acceptable.

How do you guys not have a group chat or newsletter?

    About 6 month ago. Obviously.

No, misinformation does not need to be countered quickly. This is not a pre-k class with trusting young brains or a professional journalism outlet with societal obligations.

All that attitude does is feed the trolls who, having found a source of sustenance, are certain never to leave.

So, what's the verdict on Omicron?

Do I need to stock up on toilet paper again?

I've advocated several times over the years that we have some big boy/gal/ pants threads where repeatedly posting conspiracy theories and debunked talking points would be recognised as a form of trolling.

The climate change thread was the one i originally advocated this for, because for years the thread was derailed with denier talking points, and no matter how many times it was debunked, it kept coming back.

This footballer death conspiracy one was debunked days ago elsewhere, and is based on fake data/sources. But it's used to 'just ask questions" about the dangerous vaccines. Debunking is futile IMO. Bannon and co specialise in flooding the zone with shit. As we see - the thread gets devoted to "debunking" (i.e. talking about conspiracies) rather than discussing actual breaking COVID news.

But I seem to be in the minority on this.

+1. Oh…and the fact that there is any debate at all on this when a troll combines racism and trolling is a pretty sad indictment of the moderators of this board.

    TBD.

That said, you ever want to know if there's a problem, look at what the rich and powerful are doing. And they're staying as far away from Omicron as possible.

    Sssooo.....

Zuckerberg himself claimed it was fine for Facebook to carry holocaust denial conspiracies. Then when that turned into a toxic cesspit, he reversed positions months later and it is one of the few things FB has actually effectively cracked down on. Corona conspiracies is another thing they have made some (laughable) efforts to contain, but if you listen to Slavitt and co, the administration remains hugely concerned as to why FB actively assists grifters and clowns to undermine public health efforts, which cost the country a fortune, both in terms of money expended on the vaxx campaign, and sub optimal outcomes due to low vaxx levels.

We wouldn't let someone post holocaust denial here, so I don't see why climate denial, covid denial, white replacement theory etc is allowed.

So per Zuckerberg, should someone be allowed to post holocaust denial here?

And if they did, would "ignoring" or "debunking" be effective?

If not, why should covid denial be allowed, given it is an existential threat to our societies?

They are the exact same delivery method so they are equal.

A friend is a doc and he explained the difference between old school vaccines and mRNA vaccines this was.

Old school vax gave a dead virus so the body could figure out how to fight it. mRNA is skipping the part where the body has to figure it out, it’s just directions on how to do it.

Doesn’t matter if it’s cancer, corona or anything else, it’s just the instructions that change.

That isn’t what you heard on infowars?

I have called out the mods more than once as well on this. Those clowns should be banned for spreading conspiracy theories and basically trolling here. There his ZERO benefit to have them on those boards.

Omicron confirmed in England. It's too late for containment I suspect.

A flight from SA to Netherlands landed yesterday. 61 confirmed positive on the flight. They just don't know the % of omicron.

    Massively important.

A new vaccine will take 100 days to ship and weeks to physical inject on mass.

If the death effectiveness drops to anything below about 60 to 70%, we're back in global scale lockdowns by around January.

Sadly, another round of lockdown will be met with even more protests.

So it's OK for me to 'just wonder' if our dutch friend is a russian sock being paid to cause alarm among democratic countries by his nonsensical drivel?

I mean, I'm not saying he IS... I'm 'just wondering' :)

Cases now detected in Czech Republic too.

It's everywhere by now, guaranteed. Sigh.

At this stage, I just really hope we get to Christmas day with my parents and in laws where I live.
