I’m not sure you understand how gender discrimination works. All she will need to prove is that she did what was asked of her and they let her go anyway. It will be up to the school to prove they had legitimate other reasons. Somewhat difficult to do given that she led them to a final 4 and even in her last year made the NCAA’s while they haven’t sniffed that since. Not even a winning record. The alcohol accusations are rumors and that won’t fly. Most schools settle because they don’t want their dirty laundry aired for everyone to see. I suspect that’s what will happen here. I think there is some truth to what you say in that she played nice initially because she thought that would help her land another job. When that didn’t work, she switched to missiles. But it doesn’t change the fact that she has a case.

Interesting. You had previously answered to a post of mine saying that you were always side-eyeing such couples, even if I had made the hypothesis of a sentimental relationship that had developed several years beyond the time of the coach/player relationship. Now you seem to say that a decade is ok. So is that your deeply-pondered limit? Or is it that you just apply your "rules" according to your personal convenience? :coffee:

I always hated moralism, but what I hate even more is hypocrisy.

YTRS hates men which is why it’s not as big a deal when a female coach dates a former female player. That’s the issue summed up in a nutshell.

As stated previously, live testimony trumps hearsay.

If you don't really know what occurred, you may want to withhold judgment as to what is false and what is not. The truth will come out.

I do side eye it. Do you know what that means? Side eye means look at it with skepticisim. However, if they met up ten years later and started dating that has no baring on the UCF team environment ten years ago. I said I have no idea of their situation, so I wasn't sure it was applicable. Reading comprehension is an important skill. Do not lash out at me because you cannot understand my posts.

Except I am a male. See my post before this one about reading comprehension skills (or your lack thereof).

Writing skills are also important. Don't lash at people just because you can't write posts that are consistent with each other.

Nice try. But your evident hatred for the male gender is pretty transparent.

My points were consistent. Read the posts. Relationships between coach and player are wrong. Relationships established after the fact are hard to judge. Just hope there were no feelings when they were part of the same team. That is all I have ever said.

I never rip on men in my posts. I support women. Your defensive interpretation of female support is to assume I am anti-male. Curious. One could easily infer that you are a male chauvenist trying to establish a profession in the women's game.

I know what everyone knows. Which is that the program was much better under the previous coach than they are now. I know they met the standard on the field that was set by the AD who is now at UCLA. I do not know the content of any late night phone calls or texts, however, even now, no one is claiming they were inappropriate. Just awkward. Fireable? That I couldn’t say, but proving she was drunk will be nearly impossible. So it will come down to the content of text messages to players no longer there and an AD no longer there, who all might decline to participate. For those reasons, I think the school will settle to avoid more negative press.

You continue to beat this horse. Like you have skin in the game.
Based on your own admission you don't know what was in any "late night phone calls or texts." Yet about 1/2 the team left some likely leaving money on the table too. Reeks of toxicity.

Doesn’t matter to me in the slightest what happens. Just stating what I am fairly certain will happen as a former administrator. You seem pretty defensive though. And a number of players did leave the program. Most after the previous coach left. And a bunch after the new coach took over. That reeks more of school problem than anything. Pushing to get a coach out. The school makes a change. And then they leave anyway.

And if you don’t like my opinion or response, feel free to not respond to it. Last I checked it was still a free country.

She was her coach 2011-2013. Is that long enough to go back and have a relationship now? Not comfortable with that as the relationship has a foundation of a power differential. Just like all the swim coaches that have married their athletes after they have turned 18. Of course they are adults at that point so people argue it is all good but???

It isn't that I don't like it, i simply disagree. And no dispute from me. You are entitled to your opinion, although you are making statements as if they are facts and you admittedly don't know the facts. However, you disregarded the input of another poster who is quite familiar with some facts.

As someone with a legal background, I see it very differently having been on both sides of employment issues. Hot topics currently.

And likewise, if you disagree with my opinion or response you need not respond either. ;)

Are schools able to talk to coaches still playing in the ncaa tournament regarding to openings at their schools?

I know enough about what happened. I also know that the legal side of it doesn’t often come into play where the world of bad publicity is concerned. For example, the old AD is currently at UCLA and under no obligation to help them with their investigation. I simply think they will have a difficult time proving their case, plus if it sees a courtroom, the things that come out will not paint the school (or the coach in a favorable light). Difference is, the previous coach has nothing to lose. The school does.

Seems a little slow with hiring processes from the few I am familiar with. I think the wee man Gore from Northwestern State would be a great hire for a lot of schools based on what he did in 1 season. Somewhere like LMU could be a great fit.

Baylor will have plenty of options but a certain guy from Montana that's won 5 titles in 4 years would be a good look. Not sure his pale complexion would do too well with the Texas heat but the endless ribs at barbecues would suffice well for his endless appetite.
