The only home game we had where the away support was high was El Salvador. We’ve worked on this. If we play Jamaica in Toronto, there will be big Jamaican support. The only way we won’t have a big American supporters section in January is if we played in Edmonton, everywhere else is too close for team ‘Murica to drive too.
Vancouver makes sense to host Jamaica Despite being in southern Ontario - Hamilton's stadium is located in a wind tunnel - it gets cold fast and it's windy AF
Inevitable as this point simply means "someday". CPL is nowhere close to landing in Quebec right now.

Stadium PEPS Stadium at Laval university has been rejected by the league Point of contention now is location - South Shore of Quebec vs the city itself A soccer specific stadium will be built Montreal area As reported before and again recently, European investors are looking into the Quebec market. CPL was talking to the FFF and European investors pre-pandemic Teams in Europe are looking at Quebec as a market. Quebec City and Montreal. But the two confirmed markets I am talking about are not in Quebec.— Manuel Veth (@ManuelVeth) August 24, 2021 This makes sense, for the league and Montreal - you need the right ownership and a French giant would be a coup for CPL drawing on the large population of French expat + CF Montreal getting creative at pissing off their fans.* *Joey Saputo looks less and less interested in the MLS project - all of his attention is towards Bologna in Serie A. His absence at the Cup final this weekend was noted not only in Montreal but Italy as well where he attending a game Despite Laval being in play, the league's preference is on Montreal Island.
Impact were incredibly successful in USL in terms of performance, attendance and longevity. Saputo paid a $30 million MLS expansion fee and they're currently worth $380 million. Saputo could just sell his MLS share and run a CPL club. I'm not sure how the fans would feel though.
Canada with our next window of games Honduras away on January 27th USA at home on January 30th El Salvador away on February 2nd If we can win at least 2 out of those 3 games and draw 1 of them...that would put us in great position for Qatar Or if we win all 3 games somehow, we can pretty much qualify for Qatar early with 3 games to spare
If he sells, he takes his money to Bologna and tries make it a Champions League club in my opinion. I doubt he'd bother running a CPL club. Knowing the league strategy, they put at least 2 clubs on the Island.
Canada's road to Qatar Canada Soccer has confirmed that the next home game will be at the home of CPL Champions Forge FC - Tim Horton's Field in Hamilton, Ontario. Since I live right near Hamilton...live out in the GTA in Mississauga, I could get to Tim Hortons Field pretty easily
Canada at best we finish 3rd in this qualifying table and that is at best given that we only have 6 games left and if we can win at least 3 of those games and draw the other 3 games we will qualify easily for Qatar
Not that it makes much a difference as far as the US is concerned, but I’m curious as to what makes Hamilton a better spot than Toronto.
It’s about 1,000 feet not 10,000 feet. Meaningless. Maybe the poutine is better in Hamilton, and that will help the Canucks.
I mean there is basically no difference in altitude or weather between Toronto and Hamilton, so I’m confused by this.
Robert Borden said earlier in this thread that the stadium in Hamilton can be like a wind tunnel, and thus colder than Toronto. That might have been the difference, but I wouldn't be surprised if the main difference between Hamilton and Toronto is something mundane like how much it costs the CSA to rent the stadium.
Difference between Toronto and Hamilton is apparently the CSA changed their minds too late in the day about Vancouver and that Toronto wouldn’t have been ready in time. Obviously BMO field is better than Tim Horton’s field which is a really basic CFL stadium with no roof and a turf pitch. Our stadium options in Canada are very limited.
