Especially when NCAA money is involved AND channels have a policy to stick with a live event until it finishes. Just imagine a soccer game that goes to extra time and ESPN2 cuts away because SportsCenter is on at 11. If they went to the next thing on time, that's what you'd get. Soccer fans are definitely a bunch of whiny people.
That’s exactly what they did… cut away from live college ball to catch KO of this fairy massive WCQ. And sure I wished they’d have done it sooner. But my compromise suggestion was that they use ESPN+ for that lost 10min gap. And I would say that’s the most significant fail by their producers.
In the past, they'd use News as their overflow to start the second game (of any sort) on time. I'd like to think most people would have been ok with this. It's definitely odd why they did it the way they did.
I don't get ESPN/EPSN2, but I was watching the pregame on ESPN+ and I agree that it was weird that the ESPN+ stream didn't kick in until the US national anthem. I was getting worried that something was screwed up with their stream setup and switched it to Univision at 9:05. I gave it one more shot on EPSN+ right after the Mexico anthem and the stream just started.
Amazing that soccer is pretty much the only thing I watch on espn+ for years yet I still have to scroll through about two dozen college whatever games to find the live soccer game that I want to watch. I think its time that ESPN integrate some basic level of A.I. into their browser, or at least allow us to create our favorites list like Paramount+ does. The first 2 items in their main menu are completely redundant (i.e. "Featured" and "espn+"). No clue what the difference is. Why not replace "Featured" with "MyList"?
Yah, I know but we are talking about 4 "clicks" and a lot of scrolling in-between. Just seems logical (and super easy) to put my favorite leagues and shows front and center like Paramount does. {Granted this was worse in the past when you could get results spoiled while doing all of this scrolling}
I do understand I’m probably one of 100 people who watch the Australian A League, but espn+ needs to figure this out. The can show the Aussie FFA cup, but not the opening weekend? Guess I have to watch on you tube.
This plus getting it to stop trying to upsell me on some UFC garbage every time I open the app is all I want.
If you have Hulu, here comes your automatic ESPN+ subscription for less than the cost of ESPN+ by itself. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/hulu-live-tv-adding-disney-170035874.html
Indian Super League is now available for free on the Onefootball app, can chromecast to big screen, only 30fps but better than nothing
Meanwhile in South America, Fox Sports will transform into ESPN4 in select countries (all but Argentina, Brazil and Chile).
Looks like Paramount has it, according to this post today. https://keepup.com.au/news/isuzu-ute-a-league-international-broadcasters-youtube
Looks like progress of sorts, still nothing showing up on Paramount+ itself, resorted to watching today's game on Youtube with a VPN.
MLS Cup spoiler alert: Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler Portland scored at the final gasp before the final whistle to level the game. With this, there's no chance 6pm local news (or whatever is next) starts on time. And this is why channels stay with live events until they're finished, even if it means a few "ESPN hates soccer" posts through the years. Perhaps ironically, ABC "went long" with their previous programming because it also wasn't finished on time.
Yes please! If you are an ESPN+ Subscriber there should be one tab devoted to your favorite leagues in the form of logos. If you click on the Bundesliga logo you get 3 more tabs—one for upcoming games, one for in progress games and one for previously streamed games. That’s it. And no spoilers for crying out loud! The app in its current form is an abomination.
I know this ain’t footy, but I’m astonished how poor the audio mix is for the Aussie Open tennis on ESPN channel this week. The crowd noise completely drowns out the announcers. I gather they’re calling it from Bristol CT but surely it’s well within their power to fix that mix.
While I'm complaining about BeIN in that thread, I can only add here that I hate when MLS seasons end because it means ESPN has to keep their studio crew and Taylor Twellman busy, so they start appearing on FA Cup and Bundesliga broadcasts.
But it’s nice when TT is calling a game with a Yank Abroad to tie in the national team convo!! (I.e. today with Reyna’s return).
