Bienvenido hermano! Glad to have you on board! How are you feeling about La Scaloneta and our chances in Qatar? Any players you’d like to see called-up outside of the regulars? P.d: aguante RIVER
I’m always positive, been this way since 1994… so I’m no reference. But I see Leo really into this, more than ever. And a bunch of kids with hambre de gloria. A top class keeper, Cuti Romero and Di Maria in his best form ever in la selección. Just need Lautaro to be more Batistuta and we are done. QF is a must, SF would be great, the Final is a dream and winning is beyond anything. Let’s see.
Player with most titles at youth level. 2 u20 WC & Olympic gold. Also, he's Argentina 3rd highest goalscorer of all time. I still remember Messi winning penalty in 2005 final after a foul on him. Still feels like yesterday. And then he dominated that tournament on his own 2 years later and his most notable goals for NT, that brace against Brazuca at Olympics.
Ascacibar has been playing pretty consistently for Hertha Berlin, although they are losing a lot. I wonder if he could get a look at CDM. Lisandro Marinez looked OK against Brazil, but I think his positioning will he better at CB or LCB.
Poor Kun, he was a great player and super fun to watch!! He seems like a cool person too, funny and charismatic (my husband makes me watch some of his YouTube videos, lol)
No es cierto que el Kun #Aguero iba a anunciar su retiro en una rueda de prensa esta semana . Los médicos del club siguen trabajando y realizándole estudios.— Veronica Brunati (@verobrunati) November 20, 2021 Xavi has also come out as well and said the reports are not true (that he was going retire this week). More tests need to be done. So, until then, we wait.
1. Terribly sad for Aguero if he does have to retire. When I saw him playing at the U20 WC, I thought with him and Messi we would win at least 1 World Cup and 1 Copa. Ridiculously talented player. 2. Paredes completed 104 out of 105 passes today. Paredes playing with Verratti gives PSG much better balance. 3. Messi was terrible for 80 minutes today. Really bad- but he did get his 756th career official goal, which ties him with Pele. C Ronaldo leading all time with 798 goals. 4. Stupendous dribble by Foyth; also, Acuna assist to Ocampos goal for Sevilla.
Firstly, big welcome to the board One ongoing problem we have at the front is that every forwards after Bati & Crespo are always compared to them but we dont actually have a true classic style poacher like those two. Tevez, Saviola, Lautaro, Kun, Tucu, Dybala or even Higuain arent a classic #9. Icardi is the only one in that vein but obviously there's Wanda blocking everyone's view.
Kun was no doubt special. This is him at 17 ripping River to pieces. 17. I mean, we haven’t had a youngster at 17-18 that has played at this high level back home since him. We get happy for 21 year olds but 17-18 and doing that is something else.
To be honest, that was a Torneo de Verano pre-season friendly where River played all subs and reserves. Check out this incredibly disastrous line-up: G.Lux; C.Alvarez, G.Loeschbor, D.Gerlo, R.Rojas; J.Patiño (D.Barrado 67), O.Ahumada (V.Zapata 81), J.C.Toja (J.Santana 45), D.Conca; D.Montenegro, G.Oberman Aside from Rolfi, everyone else was straight trash. I’m getting sick from just reading those names. But of course Aguero was an exceptional talent at his age, kind of like Saviola who set the world on fire at 16/17. I just don’t think that game serves as a good example of his talent as it was practically a reserves exhibition. His performance in the historic 4-0 win in the Avellaneda derby vs Racing is probably more worth highlighting.
It was a 17-year-old going on 18. My point was that you could see the talent in him at that age. You could look at him at that age and say, "Well, he's going to be a star." I do not think we have had a 17/18-year-old at that level since Kun. Here, this is a better example. Good thing we do not have any active Racing posters to come in here talking about this player was this or that... Sheesh.
Lol it’s not because it was vs River at all, it’s just because it was a meaningless friendly where subs of the subs played. It’s no real measure of talent, I would have said the same if it was vs Boca or San Lorenzo’s C sides in a friendly. It’s the equivalent of a reserves match. We’ve seen players excel in these exhibition games only to never make a splash in Primera vs the big dogs. But yeah, that Racing game is the one I was referring to. Completely tore them apart, and considering it was a derby AND for points it means a looooot more. That day he proved his worth and his character.
But I did read those names. Conca, lol. Wasn’t he once one of the highest paid players in the world? There was this ongoing talk that Brasil might cap him. Strange times, my friend. Strange times…
Welcome aboard and make your stay a long one. Alexis Mac Allister came on with a minute left. Brighton fans are also scratching their heads. He has played well every time he has come on. Yet never gets a start under Potter. Wasting his time there. Emi Martinez as usual with a couple of fantastic stops against Brighton. Buendia less impressive. Seems in a bit of a trough playing wise.
Ten minutes into the game and Julian's at it again... incredible New Argentina international Enzo Fernandez with a great assist
But when will Scaloni starts Alvarez? Or he'd keep having him as super late sub ? I know our previous managers in recent years always put Dybala or Icardi in last 10 minutes and then think they're not good enough if they dont score within those few minutes. In Bielsa & Pekerman days, we'd see our young talents in starting line up. Now it seems to takes forever, and after few years you'd see our suppose young talents suddenly has reached 20 caps but always as a late subs.
The problem is also the position Scaloni has been using him in. He has been dangerous playing up top in the center this season. Obviously he’s very mobile and can play all over the place, but Scaloni has been utilizing him almost as a winger/#8. He’s too far away from the goal in the NT doing all the dirty work. If anything he should have replaced Lautaro vs Brazil rather than Correa. Julian’s much more of a 9 than Joaquin, who actually plays better on the wings. Scaloni got it backwards.
Replacing Lautaro with Tucu has always been Scaloni worst decision everytime. Tucu usually shines when he played alongside Lautaro and Messi, not when replacing Lautaro. Tucu is supposed to be direct back up for Nico, but somehow in recent game, he always replaced Lautaro and he's certainly far from good enough as a finisher. I agree Alvarez should be played as targetman. Tucu at this point should be the last resort behind Dybala and Alvarez. I really hope his NT career doesnt end up like Dybala. I dont think Dybala ever play for full minutes in NT... Or maybe 3 or 4 times..
I think Scaloni hopes that Tucu can come in and be a speedster and run at tired legs. The problem is, who the hell is he going to pass it to? If you bring in a pacy player, you better leave in a goal scorer. I like Tucu a lot but if we need a goal, Tucu is not going to be the player we look at. The other issue is, we do not have a replacement for Lautaro. Scoring goals is our biggest problem. We need another goal scorer. We probably have to give Julian a look at the #9. No other choice really. We like to jump on a team early, score, and defend and hit them with a counter. That’s living dangerously. Also. Lautaro did not take the PK today. I believe it was game or two back, the first one he didn’t take also but took the second and it was saved. He needs to step up and take it. It will help with his confidence.
