He's fourth in scoring for the Whitecaps with only three goals on the season. Not exactly what you want to see from your DP striker if you're a Whitecaps fan and not great news for the NT. And the second assist on the goal was by fellow young Canadian Jayden Nelson. Over the past few games, I've been happy to see TFC starting several Canadians each time and bringing in more off the bench for meaningful minutes.
Unfortunately, they had to be shamed into doing so... The front office needs to change and give more Canadians a voice. That team has been ridiculously pro American for far too long
I doubt that they are worried about any shame people think they should be feeling. I suspect it has more to do with where they are at in the development of some of their younger players and in this season's standings. Regardless of the reason, last game (similar to other recent games) they started four Canadians and subbed in two (46th and 77th minutes). In this case it was while resting Osorio and Laryea who would normally start. I am happy with it. And the TFC-Pacific game tomorrow should be fun.
A guy on tweeter was banned because the account manager was tired of "Team America" meme (said account manager is also an American) TFC have talented guys but not clue what to do with them until recently when there would be no chance they'd make the playoffs I mean one of them was on the Guardian list for best next generation. Most team would play that kid, not park him at TFC II. We'll disagree on that but teams like NYRB and FC Dallas would have played the hell out of those kids. Even Pozuelo called out management last season saying the kids are good and should play. (He definitely checked out) But the American front office thinks that Dwyer and Mullins are better...despite Peruzza scoring 1 more goal (total of 1) than both combined. TFC deserves every bit of criticism coming at them on this. Front office needs to go.

Once again, thanks for assembling these reports. We have definitely established our core group of players. This is a good place for us to be as it means the players are already familiar with each other when they come in to new qualifying windows. And we are still integrating new talent or switching up the players around the edges. It is good to finally have what looks like a mature team rather than one that his newly assembled for each match. Games like this one are one of the reasons I love the Canadian Championship. Pacific played very well and never gave up. I expected Forge to go for it but was pleasantly surprised that they were able to pull out this result. Very well done! Regardless of how far they go from here, I look forward to seeing them in next year's CCL. Do you have any links for BCL1? I've had a hard time finding any solid information. Thanks.
With MLS coming to a stop for most clubs - the question is : will Herdman still call up MLS players who will be in their off-season or not? They did well with Terran Campbell being suspended and losing Marco Bustos in the 2nd half due to injuries. Campbell's physical presence in the box was missing big time for Pacific. I actually think they have a great shot at winning the cup if they make the most of their home games. You have to think that Motagua will have end of November weather. I think player management to address off seasons (both in MLS and Europe) is part of what Herdman will consider. There are some guys who play on either side of the pond who are likely to start even in the off season so long as Herdman knows they've kept themselves fit. But maybe they play 45 or 60 instead of 90. Happily we have the players to do this now. I think it will make a bigger difference for the younger/more fringe players. To pick a random example, do you call up Cornelius, from Greece, or Guillard, from Montreal. They also benefitted from some great saves by Irving (and a couple of terrible missed finishes by TFC). I doubt anyone really has enough information to truly compare the teams and leagues across this tournament. Certainly I don't. Over the past three seasons, however, Forge have shown that they can hang with pretty much anyone on a given day. They certainly have a chance. I see it as a bit of a coin toss, but we only need the coin to come up heads four more times now. Thanks.
