Mexico as a whole has been going downhill for a few years now. We haven’t exported young players to Europe, many young players that excel in youth NTs end up falling through the cracks as time goes on, we haven’t been playing in South American tournaments anymore, the level of Liga MX has been going to shit thanks to shit ownership, and now there’s the high possibility of merging with MLS?

The writing has been on the wall all along. Getting rid of Tata may be a temporary fix but it will take more to see necessary changes

You are on to something that his been said for years. This is not a USA/Mexico race as some may think due to a lot of things (political, society issue etc), it is a long term strategy where Mexico football owners are getting more money cause of it under the pretext “para Que la liga crezca” while lo deportivo had been taking a massive hit.

Pero you have half the internet of Chicharo fans asking for his call up. The issue here is not Javier himself as a player as I think he is a decent player even with his limitations. The issue is his image and the role it plays in Mexican football and Mexican players.

I just posted literal numbers on page 8 where he is not even remotely close to his contemporaries. His fans 3,2,1 “Europa, argentina, Manchester” etc… it’s like watching Fox News.

Look at below, straight numbers and his fans will defend him at ALL costs. People believe I am attacking him but I am simply posting numbers.

    Jared Borgetti (89 apps):

For me, Que lo convoquen not because I Believe he will make a difference or because he is “really good”; Que lo convoquen because it’s what la selección has been or what is has been reduced to.

Chicharito proves to come big when we need him and in big games too(Against France & Germany for ex.)

Although I don’t think he should be staring, but at the least he should be considered as a sub.

With his experience on the pitch and insane knowledge with finding space and getting to the ball; he would be a good super sub.

He’s also been in form too, MLS or not; he’s getting the job done.

You don’t lose that football knowledge and sure he may not be young again, but he’s not 80. He’s 33. He still has juice in him.

I have mixed feelings on Javier. Primarily, his image. I do believe he is toxic for the group and that just enables all the caca in Mexican football.

On the other hand from a deportivo perspective, he is 34-ish and regardless of what anyone says, his glory years were a decade ago and his style is in the area chica. The ball with Tata rarely makes it up there and RJ9 spends more time in association play which is where we need significant improvement. At this point, anything is better? Young players are not coming in with this staff and I think it’s a bit late since Qatar is next year should Mexico make it.

    fk, this sux

    LOL at this terrible analysis.

Jared Borgetti 37 goals on offical tourneys and yet 12 off those came against Dominica, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Belize. Luis Hernandez gets 1999 Confederations Cup title where he was injured and played the first half of the Bolivia, had to come out and didn't play another match. Yet Javier Hernandez wins the scoring title and the 2011 Gold Cup and gets not scoring in the final (where was Jared Borgetti in the 2003 Gold Cup final in Estadio Azteca against Brazil's olympic team?).

Where was the notes about Luis Hernandez going to the 2002 World Cup and giving one of the worst performances in a World Cup? Where was Chicharito going to Manchester United, Real Madrid and Leverkusen while Borgetti, Blanco and Hernandez not cutting it in Bolton, Valladolid and Boca? Where was Hernandez and Borgetti being regulars in the Meza era which makes Martino and Chepo looked like Guardiola? Chicharito is responsible for missing out the New Zealand match but Luis Hernandez get none for missing the whole qualifiers because he's wasn't good enough to get called up and then stinking it up a la Salcido 2014 when he did make it?

we’re struggling to put the dam ball in the net, 33, 23, 18 who gives a dam how old he is if he can score even if it’s with his butthole then call him up because no one else is scoring. Pinning 7-0 on him or the “almost not qualifying for 2014” is a Moronic terrible take, probably one of the worst I’ve seen on this board in 15 years. We don’t need him to come be the future, all we need is for him to do what he’s always done, put the ball in the net even if it’s for 1 more year, then we can start focusing on the generational change that is needed. I much prefer an old cheech scoring a few goals to help us over missing out on a world cup.

It’s like talking to a wall. I didn’t even post my opinion just straight numbers. I even commented that he is an ok player just but not World class. I even said that this was not a comment on him as a player, it was the image on Mexican media and even commented to call him up but yet sure enough, I knew he have his fans coming to the rescue. I actually think he has a good remate de cabeza. I expect nothing less from his followers.

If you followed this thread you’d know that is not what i was pointing out but it reinforces what I am trying to convey. The image of “el Chicharo” is what causes damage to Mexican football. We don’t want place blame on one specific player, which I can agree with, but somehow one player is going to get us out of this bind? I even commented Que lo convoquen. I am pointing out the digression in Mexican football. The fking irony. I followed this board for years and the amount of sht the MLS gets including from me but here we are asking/saying “hey MLS, we actually need our striker that plays in your league”. Unbelievable

No! no one is saying “hey mls” just like we never said “hey premier league,” it was always “hey Chicharito, come score goals”you’re giving the MLS too much credit. No one is saying he’s Superman, he’s not world class, but in a time when you’re not scoring goals you can’t afford to not call up a player who has been finding the back of the net, or should we continue to wait on funes mori to find his form or for Jimenez to get back to the player he once was?

Lol slow/old/short Javier is not the player we need right now when teams are looking to play physical with us.
We never got to take advantage of his skills because our crossing, final passes were horrifc and guess what? They still are.

If we're going to give anyone else a chance. Give it to Gimenez. He has the physical tools and is our future.

I agree, collectively we aren’t playing well at all. We shouldn’t be in this position to need him, but I rather we give him the shot instead of playing the what if game. Or just say screw qatar and get ready for 2026
