How do the Mexicans look? How did they fare against Brazil?
I know they drew Colombia 0-0 whom we of course also played to a draw.
What are the chances we beat Mexico FOUR times this year?

We got trapped into a FMF recruitment scheme, under the guise it was for kids to make up for lost time & provide a showcase for them.

They were able to set this up and didn't do it collaboratively or in a diplomatic way to have a fair competition.

Put this in the category of placing academies in California and Texas now. They're getting real desperate to stay relevant relative to us.

Hearing a few Red Bull, Union, and maybe other MLS players are leaving camp early.

They will get their chance. Dewsnup in particular is such a beast in goal. Very dynamic, powerful keeper

Gutierrez raised his stock. I had some mobility questions answered. And he's already read the game at higher speed. The flair & work-rate were always there.

Don't think anyone else has raised stock, in this tough environment in which to look good. But what happens against pros means exponentially more.

So Sullivan, Clark, Aaronson, Slonina, Cowell, Gutierrez & Che are good bets to have futures w/ seniors. Several more are realistic, like Neal, Sealy, McGlynn, Wiley, etc.

There are a few, where you question if they could ever keep up with their lack of agility. Like it or not, that's the #1 roadblock to reach higher levels. You need other things, of course, but they are more improvable, and to reach this level you already need to have a minimum foundation of skill & understanding.

Hopefully Diego Luna gets to play against Mexico. He is very underrated IMO.

Youth soccer is strange. Obviously 35 yards shot that Gutierrez took againt Brazil was a wrong decision as there were open teammates waiting for a pass, but that happen to be a right decision for the kid as now everyone knows that he has that long distance shot.

I’ve heard he may be looking towards Europe. I’m skeptical that he’s staying with El Paso past this season.

Yea, it's a lot about individuality, to showcase abilities to prospective scouts. So to a degree it didn't matter how long they trained together.

The u-17 WC team trained together a long time, and in the end it was still Reyna heroballing.

Fittingly, Gutierrez has reminded me of a lower middle class Reyna.

Some googling of names indicates the refs for this tournament are in their 20s and work in the Mexican third and fourth tier, along with the top domestic youth leagues. So I’d say they’re comparable to college refs in the US, who I certainly wouldn’t back to do much better in these games.

The guys that haven’t started yet need to start tomorrow, if they are fit. This early in the cycle playing time doesn’t matter. Evaluate the pool.

This is the lineup I’d play tomorrow.

    Borto
    Che-Neal-Walls-Greene
    Garay-Pukstas
    Luna
    Sealy-Rodriguez-Cowell

Apparently Rodriguez suffered an injury, therefore he is the only player on the list who did not play.

Hydration break. Dare I say it? USA has been the better team on the field. Mexico's number 10 (ponytail) is the best player on the day by far. Nice goal against the run of play.

Near fight as Cowell gets football tackled and takes exception. Dual yellows for him and Mexico #4.
