Getting outplayed, really odd lineup. are they playing on the sun? Barely moving like its hot. Alot of tall super skinny Defenders who seem mobile and decent on the ball but they don't know or like to pass. Kick it long or stand there passing amongst them selves 20 yards away from defender. Defenders must be hot like lava. It hurts that Edelman is their only outlet and he's not very good. Not a soft touch, but he's weak and slow. Sanago gave easy balls away. Only guys who look decent are Gutierrez, Clark, and Sullivan but they haven't really touched the ball.

Red to Sullivan for a kick to Castillo.

Very stupid, comes running and hits the leg in front of the AR.

Sullivan moving like a wasteman. Horrible decision making. This manager hasn’t got a clue, and the players look disinterested.

It looked like he was talking shit to the Colombia players right after the foul too which may have sealed the red card.

  7. What is Sullivan thinking with that move?

Colombia has no one who can score, so this is likely to end 1-0 thanks to the PK scored by Caden.

Did that Colombian player really escape without a card after purposefully stepping on Aaronson right in front of the ref?

Aaronson literally gets stomped on, and the referee gives him a yellow.

A reminder that we've used three 18 year olds in WCQing (Reyna, Pepi, Musah), with a fourth a possibility in this window (Scally).

Just to talk people off the ledge. :)

Thanks for that. I tuned in just in time to see a stamping, a fight, bad game management and worse marking.

Game ends 1-1. It was the fair result. Neither team played well. Our goal was on an error from their CB that forced him to commit a penalty. Their goal was bad marking by our CB's. The referee was awful. He sends Sullivan off for kicking the guy in the back of the leg. It was a hard foul. Probably deserved a yellow, but if you are going to send him off for that, you have to then send the Colombian players for their dirty stamps on our players (once to Aaronson and then another time to Borto).

There were two problems I had with how we played. The first half we probably had the better of the play slightly, but we had no cohesiveness. These players haven't played much together. This is why not holding any YNT camps in nearly two years was so stupid. It's going to take time for these players to start understanding how to play off of each other.

In the second half, the personnel made no sense. We had no reference point up top. It was a bunch of central midfielders past the defensive line. Why are you taking Sanogo off after 45 minutes if he barely played the first game? If you take him off though, why aren't you sending Rodriguez on? What's the point of his place on the team if it's not to be the third forward? Because of the lack of any reference, we kept losing the ball in the second half. Same problems as the first half of the first game. This coach needs to show some better tactical decision-making. That was a clear problem in the first game, and he created the same problem in the second game without reason.

I didn't think there were that many very bad or good individual performances. Most of the players were somewhere around average. No one was great and no one was terrible, so I don't think this is the best game to pick out individual performances. If I was going to though, In the good category I would put Borto, Sullivan, Neal, Greene, and Edelman. In the bad category, I would put Henry, Pierre, and Sanogo. The others were somewhere in between, and none of the subs made much of an impact.

Through two games, I think Neal has been our best player, as I expected. He has great control of what he's doing for a CB. He's able to play very aggressively because of his athleticism and long limbs, but he usually gets most of his initial reads correct, and wins the ball early. The passing was also there once again. Sullivan showed some great flashes of bossing the midfield on both sides of the ball. He's a lot better defensively than most attacking midfielders. He struggled with when to release the ball once he made nice plays. Thats the type of thing that will come with time. Young players sometimes hold onto the ball too long. Not a big problem.

Borto was better than Slonina through two games. He had a very nice save that kept a goal out. He also didn't make any errors, and I had little problem with his ability playing from the back. Good size, as well. I need to see more, but he looks like a quality player. Greene didn't do anything that great, but he's very efficient on both sides of the ball. Very good back up LB (that can also play RB). He's not going to do anything that'll cause any attention to his play. He may be able to keep a spot all cycle. Edelman played a very low-event game, like Greene. Dependable protecting the back line, drew some fouls when needed, made some tackles. Moved the ball. The typical Edelman performance.

Henry tried way too many inaccurate long passes. He's a below-average passer. He shouldn't try to do too much. It's not a strength. He shouldn't give the ball so easily. He also was the main culprit on the goal, although Che could've also done better. Pierre was very sloppy all game. He didn't add much going forward, and was always on the verge of a big defensive error. Sanogo kept losing the ball every time he touched it, and he couldn't stay onside when making runs.

The heat definitely affected both teams but we were clearly outplayed. I have no problem with Sullivan getting a red. He swung at the players legs and was nowhere near the ball. On the other hand that yellow to Aaronson when the defender walked on him was atrocious.

It's hard for me to make assessments about players because of how little training time they've had. That said, I noticed that on an individual basis the Colombian players had a much better fundamental understanding of body positioning in one on one battles. Whether that's a result of more unstructured pick up games or maybe better youth coaching they were clearly better in that department.

Be aware of the mexican ref next game. He already robbed colombia of a win, and absolutely shanked brazil tonight. never seen a more biased ref. well he is refereeing his own countries games which itself is ridiculous

Beginning to get the sense all these refs are either on the take, or just want to screw us, or are totally incompetent or all of the above.

If nothing else, maybe this means that the USSF and Brazil are back on good terms and a Pan-American tournament can get back going.

    Bwahahaha. No, they're just incompetent.
This is the type of event that inexperienced officials wanting to build resumes are invited to.

Its like..........................umpires in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

I'm pretty sure refs aren't being bribed to fix results at meaningless U20 competitions. Who's betting on the Revelations Cup?

I take a different view. Its good for young players in CONCACAF to experience this caliber of refereeing. That's preparation for the CONCACAF U20 Championships too. :)

To be frank, even with that referee the way he was...............1-1 was a fair result.

Not true, you can see the technical level the players are at overall if they stand out in a very good or very bad way. First touch and ability to play out of tight spaces is something that a player has regardless of where they are playing. You can see the obvious quality from both Caden Clark and Paxten Aaronson every time they touch the ball even if the field further prohibits them from pulling off all of their ideas

Yes, it does. The teams here are from the pool that will be eligible for the 2023 U20 World Cup. Players born in 2003 and 2004.
