Brazil now pressing high. Predictably this is causing some problems. Their wingers are also causing lots of problems.
McGlynn with a bad pass back to Walls, and then Walls has no chance but to foul the Brazilian for a PK.
2-0. The PK was actually terrible. A goalie has to have it. Right down the middle without any height.
The game is being played at a pretty fast pace and Brazil, well, they're just better. The U.S. has had some team moves that haven't quite come off but haven't been entirely speculative. In a general way I just really enjoy watching the game at this level. The players are good and physically mature enough that there's some quality to the play and a fast pace, but they're young enough that you don't get too much cynicism. It's fun.
PK. 0-2 already. Not surprised this is a collective disaster, but I am in some of the individual performances, and the way it's happened. In addition to McGlynn and Leyva having trouble defensively, they've had really sloppy passes. Che is getting murked. The CB's aren't marking well. The Clark at CF decision is inexplicable. Players look in disarray, in part because they haven't played together, but also they're being set up poorly, by a newly minted manager they had little resources for.
It's a team with 1-2 days of practice against a team that has been together for months according to some people who follow them. They have a program right now; we have a team. They are also Brazil.
Che is diving in and missing way too much. Have some better discipline. He’s leaving Neal on an island, who is handling it better than most would.
They look like a team that just got together this week with a coach that was hired a few days ago playing against Brazil.
It’s definitely not great but I’m not going to judge too much for a team that’s basically never played or trained together, coached by a team who didn’t pick the team, going up against Brazil. More concerning would be if they look like this later in the cycle.
I understand the competition is high and there are excuses for how disorganized it looks. But it's not at all good so far. Maybe they grow into the game as it goes on.
He’s done well. One misplaced pass. He’s won like 3 tackles inside 25 minutes. If his one error is usually his biggest strength, that’s not too bad. People questioned his athleticism and defense. That is holding up well.
Pretty much this. I'm just enjoying the ride. This is the start of a pretty constant year for this team.
