The rise of programs like Arkansas and Ole Miss had to put the burner on high for Georgia. The SEC seems extremely chaotic to me.
OPEN UK Maryland Austin Peay Tulsa (interim - Jim Rhein) Troy (interim - Nicole Waters) Villanova USC Upstate Missouri State (retired) Idaho State Oral Roberts Morehead State Bellarmine Loyola Marymount Saint Francis Wisconsin Green Bay Appalachian State Georgia Filled Louisiana Tech (Steve Voltz - previous interim) Pacific (Danesha Adams and JJ Wozniak - previous interims) Not sure when the last time there’s been co-head coaches that weren’t interims. It worked for Pacific and will again. Still…strange to me.
Agree it is weird with two head coaches. What happens when they disagree with a scholarship offer, or a team selection difference of opinion? I think they’ve done great and both deserve the head role, just curious how they problem solve situations when they completely disagree. Congratulations to them both though. In regards to Green Bay, my understanding is that the investigation was for multiple recruiting violations that were serious. Another poster mentioned he was ventilated with covid but thankfully pulled through. Seems like perfect timing to take a step back.
Jess Jobe and Anna Jobe at Northwestern State before Stuart Gore took over..they did a good job setting a good foundation.
Couples coaching might be for another thread but wouldn't you think it probably hurts their mobility rather than helps it? They aren't coaching on one salary you assume. Not every school treats nepotism the same way. I know, for example, an assistant coach that has to 'direct report' to another head coach rather than their spouse, who is the head coach. I also know an AD who cannot be the direct report for their spouse who is a head coach on the staff, and could not be involved in hiring them. Making them officially "co coaches" is interesting but not sure that is the best way to 'dodge' the rules, or to manage a program. Players can't really confide in the assist coach can they? who lives day to day with the head coach? So, aren't these couples coaching effectively co-coaches regardless of their title? Personally, if my wife and I were on the same staff, I'm not sure it would be good for our relationship so I'm amazed at those who do it. When I'm home I don't want to talk soccer and players constantly. Would have to be some serious ground rules! Happening at UCF and also USC, the carolina one, but also places like ODU and UMBC. I'm sure there are many more that we know about and some we don't.

I would think the Appalachian State job would be pretty desirable, no? Decent school, good football program, beautiful area.
What's the chance that BC's seat is getting warm? Three ACC wins in three years in charge. That's a team that a decade or so ago was in the College Cup.
I'm pretty surprised that there has not been any news at Akron. It really must not be worth it for the administration to make a change. Akron sports have gone downhill and the administration seems indifferent. The only strong teams that they really have remaining are men's soccer, men's basketball, and strangely, riflery. The men's cross country and track programs were once one of the best in the MAC and the entire Midwest. Men's cross was cut so that will also hurt the track and field program. Appalachian State should be a good place but whoever goes there will have their work cut out for them. If I were a coach, I would find it difficult to concentrate if I lived in that area. I'm a huge outdoor enthusiast and the Blue Ridge Mountains are one of my favorite places to hike and ride a bike. It would just be one big playground for me. When Lowe got the BC job after being at Wake I thought that it was a big step up for him. Throughout the 2010s BC was generally a pretty good program and they have seemed to struggle a bit lately. He will probably get some more time but things could be getting warm in Chestnut Hill.
beautiful campus. hardest part is the soccer field is pretty far away from campus. Several miles away. would think that could be a tough sale for some
Did you read the article? Williams, a former assistant coach at Evansville before taking over SIU's inaugural program, was placed on administrative leave in mid-September and did not coach another match. SIU never gave a reason for putting him on leave.
Didn’t he inherit a mess of a program? The previous BC coach left under a cloud of mystery and a bunch of their best players transferred. Apparently its still ongoing in court: https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/10...leged-gender-bias-retaliation/?outputType=amp So Lowe’s first season was a mess not of his doing and the second season was COVID. I bet he has more time to turn things around.
Looks like the previous coach is playing the gender card, despite the majority of the team going into the administration. Who knows with athletes these days though what is and isn’t an abusive coach.
I guess that nothing ever came from the lawsuit at Virginia tech? They had a good year and made the NCAAs. Hardly heard about them all year
Previous coach is going to win that lawsuit. Recorded without consent. Parameters set that were met. Even at will employees have rights. It won’t see a courtroom and BC will be reaching into its wallet. Sounds like the previous coach played nice initially thinking another job would be around the corner. When that didn’t happen, it was time to go after them apparently.
Previous coach is using a gender card that sadly desperate people seem to be able to use. Maybe she will win, maybe she won’t, but if she was an idiot calling a player drunk that’s on her. Litigation is so unpredictable so she might have a shot of winning despite clearly being a total idiot with the way she conducted herself.
From the article I read, there are issues with her being recorded, which is illegal without consent. Not to mention, how on earth can you possibly prove someone was drunk over the phone? On top of that, unless they said something completely inappropriate, it’s not a fireable offense. Lol. If that’s what BC is hanging it’s hat on, they better get the checkbook out now. They are going to need to go after wins and losses to say they moved in a different direction and reality is that the program did much better with her than it has since. Not going to end well for BC.
I don't think he was looking for the formal reason, but rather hoping The Forum Machine had some inside info (or at the least, rumors)...like it seems to with almost every program that has a coach on leave, fired, resigned etc.
