I feel for Dortmund, they are really seeing a lot of players getting hurt and missing multiple matches. I always want to see Ajax play the best possible team.

Dumfries played the full 90 and got an assist today

is this really true, any concrete source, apart from the article attached

  4. LvG himself said he makes his choices from the list presented to him. He's not doing the scouting himself.

Weghorst started and played 63 minutes in today's UCL match vs. Salzburg. So presumably he is fully over the Covid thing. Thus, presumably lowering the chances of Luuk de Jong seeing the field in November's WCQ matches.

Frenkie played 90 minutes today in Barca's UCL game vs. Dynamo Kiev. So his hamstring issue is evidently behind him. Whew!

Question for everyone and anyone who knows but does the squad size go back to 23 man roster, or up to 26 that we saw during the Euros?

Also when does 5 subs go away?

So Flekken has only given up 9 goals in 11 matches, including 2 today which I think he could do very little about

I have no idea regarding these questions. However, I hope the 5 subs allotment is retained, as I think it's good for the game:
    • Potentially reduces the workload on the top players, if there is more opportunity to be subbed out late in games.
    • With more fresh legs on the pitch near the end of games, quality of play should be improved.
    • Allows teams to use more of their roster, giving young players more opportunities to show what they can do.
    • More tactical and strategic flexibility for the managers to make chess moves during the game. E.g., I believe I'm observing more substitutions being made at halftime than in the past. Less concern about "burning" substitions early, and less need to save them for injury replacements.

I am far from a sophisticated fan of the game. Also, having not grown up with it, I may have less attachment to the long-standing traditions. So please tell me if I'm wrong!

  13. I don't think any of your points clash with "traditions".

Malen is not good lately. Barring any injury, this will be as close as the WC squad for next year unless there is any new rising star. Karsdorp pretty much can forget about being called up.

  15. Yup, until the Ajax clan in the staff goes home.
It shows the little thought given by the socalled sports journalists they don't even ask a question to LvG why a Rench is included in his list when he's talking about "Jut en Jul" clubs regarding the Conference league. Why don't they ask him if he considers our second league clubs of a better standing than the champions of other leagues.
They have no critical observations at all to make. It's disgusting as it makes continuation of malpractice like this possible.

I thought Malen looked rather lively in his brief run vs Ajax the other day, but clearly he is having problems getting settled and I read quotes from Marco Rose the Borussia Dortmund Trainer stating that.

Hope he starts firing soon and I believe he has a lot to offer.

Why do you think no chance for Karsdorp? He’s played very well which clearly has not moved the foolish LvG.

Hopefully not as he’s been on fire and fully deserves to start for Oranje.

Villareal’s coach (Emery) believes Danjuma only suffered a minor knock and should be able to report to international duty! I hope that’s truly the case, I will believe it when I see it ;)

Lang should be fresh… sat out today to serve his RC suspension. Looks like Berghuis was rested this weekend.

Memphis, Lang, Berghuis — that should be the starting trio.

Danjuma and Weghorst are the back-ups. Malen is out of sync. Gakpo not called (injury). No more injuries please!!

If healthy Danjuma should easily be starting. I like Lang but Danjuma is doing better in a much bigger league

We should just start both since Lang can also play RW.

Berghuis is in injured and replaced by Steven Bergwijn.

Drommel is ill and replaced by Jasper Cillessen.

Timber is injured and replaced by Devyne Rensch, who is preferred over Rick Karsdorp.

For those who calls for Karsdorp, we can "forget about it".

Someone should send LvG some tapes of Italian matches featuring Karsdorp!! It's doubtful that any of the coaching staff have visited Italy to see him play in person.

Perhaps those on TV in Netherlands can bring it up then having reporters to ask LVG at his conference. I'm sure he will discard the idea and he will prove his point instead. There is no hope. It seems like LVG and his staff already decide.
