Weah attempts open thirty yarder looking for the far upper corner. It was there if it hit it perfectly, but didn't.
2nd half - Tim takes a shot from distance. Needed to be a step or two closer there. subsequently presses the keeper and teammates recover the ball. Tim is playing up top in 2 forward formation.
Cross from the left 50' Weah on it but can't put it home, ball bounces around and Ikone finally buries it . Lille up 2-1
Ikone sets up Celik for a shot, shot goes off of the post and right back to Ikone, who buries it. Weah involved fighting for a cross in the play that led to it.
He created a big chance for the would be game winner at the virtual death, after running in behind and playing in a left-footed low cross, but Yilmaz fluffed his lines.
Great determination. Too bad BS (therefore Egg) insist he is a winger and weah him down with too much tickytacky defending and such. He has paid his dues. I'd have him running at that back line of Mexico from the start, give him the armband, leave Pulisic on the bench til the 2nd half, throw in some pressers (Adams, Aaronson, Sarge, Pepi). Here's a thought: Berhalter should give the Prime Minister of Liberia a call for advice on tactics.
I think Mexico will come out the gates going all out for the score. History has shown that we are a second-half team and we are at the most dangerous when the game is close. I'm in the camp that we should save Pulisci for the second half. Not having Dest and Reyna will be felt. Weah needs to have a BIG game.
Indeed. Weah should be an out and out striker for us, IMO. His ability to combine would be useful when you have guys like Pulisic, Reyna, and Aaronson around.
Weah? No. I'm not a big fan of his, but he'd be one of our better options (if not the best) in case Pepi were a one-hit wonder. Also, I don't think we're ever going to be the sort of NT that relies on forwards to score against hard rivals. Our goals will come mainly from midfield when playing against anyone stronger than Panama.

Not reversed, and Americanish Jonathan David makes the PK. Weah playing left mid in a 4-4-2, by the way - early media stuff had him up top.
Jonathan David scores again - Nice chipped ball behind the defense as David and Weah were lined up even with the defense 40 yards from goal; pass goes to David, who manages to control under pressure and beat the keeper from close range. Weah made a couple of runs designed to draw the defense and put himself in place for a pass that wound up not mattering. 2-0 Lille.
