Also worth noting here that not all “free” tickets are the same. Giving every kid in your youth club a free ticket is different than deflating the ticket value by issuing them to just anybody. That said:

Well that's not true if the free tickets are given to an institution, like a school or soccer academy. If they're giving away free tickets to the general public then you're point is valid.

I see EXP has already made this point.

Updated NISA Fall Season Attendance as of 10/8/2021:

    52 matches played

    Detroit City: 6,076/4,664/3,894/3,969/3,689/3,817

    Chattanooga FC: 2,916/2,008/2,158/1,946/1,960/0*

    Michigan Stars: 1,628/1,857/0*/0*/0*

    Chicago House: 1,183/1,013/863

    California United: 653/525/0*/685/1,738/345/415

    New Amsterdam: 278/333/404/319/422

    Maryland Bobcats: 305/362/292/312/0*

    1904 FC: 237/182/393/342/245

    Stumptown: 167/189/164/245/399

    Los Angeles Force: 0/0/175/0/0*

    • Does anyone have the attendance number for the Chattanooga (10/7) home match and Maryland (10/6) home match? Would be greatly appreciated.
    • As always, I chose not to provide the total and average attendance because there are some matches without a reported attendance number, those without attendance numbers reported are marked with an asterisk.

Flower City Union Herald Times announced a fundraiser in the sense of fan ownership before ever kicking a ball. Speaking of kicking a ball, they're pondering a 2023 professional start instead of 2022. Their original owner looks like pulled out and are, strangely, asking for more money now.

    Yep, this will go well.

NISA might want to rethink their business model. Letting anyone in doesn’t seem to be working out.

If they didn't let just anybody in they'd be down to Chattanooga, Detroit and a couple of academy teams.

Amid crowded lower-division landscape, NISA is spreading the ‘open-system’ gospel in American soccer – The Athletic

Decent piece on NISA from the good folks at The Athletic until you get into Peter Wilt and Prutch's comments, which would not recommend unless if you wear rose-tinted glasses and believe in unicorns.

    Exempt from the article:

Sigh. Look, most American soccer fans, most American sports fans, do not actively support promotion and relegation, nor they don't "need" it or "want" it.

Nobody needs to upgrade their iPhone every year or two. Nobody wants to change the traffic laws so that drivers now have to drive on their left instead of right because England does it. Wilt is way over his head here.

Sounds pretty vague, doesn't mention how many teams will "refrain from play", an euphemism of folding next season. Is Stumptown, LA Force and 1904 all accounted for then and basically more than half of the clubs with under 1,000 in average attendance?

Ok, so the commissioner of NISA isn't aware that he has a third division league already. Things are getting rosy here.

There's not enough support or value to warrant a second Chicago team in MLS. We already seen the evidence that a Chicago lower division team isn't getting that much support to a point that the team is owned by the wife of New Amsterdam, again no conflict of interests there. But sure, add another hypothetical Chicago team in NISA to cannibalize the other with perhaps less support.

"will they be able to stomach the blandness of expansion teams all named City FC"

What are the two biggest NISA fan owned teams called again?

Actually she’s the third female coach in NISA. I think it’s great that CHAC has done this and is promoting it, but the league has only been playing since 2019: it’s not like they had to dig through troves of archives to see that this statement is not only false, but there’s been a female coach literally every season of NISA’s existence.

    • Novelty is wearing off for Chicago, down to triple-digit attendance (average attendance of 937 total so far). Thought Peter Wilt got this whole independent soccer league with an open system in the bag... He did say he needs 5,000 fans every match to break even, apparently he's about 4,000 people short. What does Chicago House owner who is also the wife of New Amsterdam's owner think?
    • Los Angeles Force still has no fans, or permanent stadium.

I'm trying to work out why LA Force are in NISA. Are they meant to be a showcase for FC Golden State Force academy?

    Seems like a downward spiral.
Love Detroits effort to be different, but just join USL-1 (or USL-C) if they can afford it. Heck Oakland made the jump. Let the rest of the teams (if they even last long enough) drop to NPSL or USL-2 and be done with this nightmare.

New team announced. Wonder what Syracusans think when they cheer for a team that has glow lights as colors with no orange involved. Alongside one of the worst logos I've seen, worse than San Francisco Deltas - likely how this will turn out.

What's funny is Prutch looked like he didn't want to be there. Lol.
