TT was happy that CP was going to get game minutes in our 1st international window as CP was just coming back from COVID. Then CP went and got his latest injury and has been out all the way through now. I doubt TT and Chelsea want CP to play anymore international soccer after this last injury. I’m sure they would prefer he just stays and trains with his club and they will worry about getting him game fit another way.

If Chelsea really wants him not to play in the USQ's, they can't play him before them, unless they have an agreement with CP and/or USMNT. If they play him before the break, it's pretty hard to argue they have to keep him in England.

They can play him for 60 and pull him out, then say he was having an "awareness."

Of course, if CP is in agreement that he doesn't want to risk play with the US, Chelsea could pull it off. But if CP is set on going if healthy, and Chelsea really wants to try to game the system, they pretty much have to keep him off the field until after the break. I doubt they play those kinds of game with their key players, though. CP might be young, but he's pretty much a GAM and has had to (with his reps/advisors) make a lot of pretty GAM decisions in his young life. I doubt Chelsea is under the illusion they can "trick" him into playing for them but not the US. He either wants time off of international duty, in which case the club would back him up, or he's not ready to play, in which case he won't play for them or the US, or he's ready to play, gets minutes and makes the decision for himself.

That would be the wize move for Chelsea...I wouldn't want him nowhere near the USMNT so soon after returning from injury...There's other ways to get him fit

If he were to go and get hurt again, everyone at club level would completely turn against him this time around since he would have made the decision to go after being recommended to skip this international window.

One possible scenario is that he comes to Ohio for the the Mexico game but he doesn’t start. We can use him in the second half as needed. Old school super sub Pulisic. He doesn’t need to be 90 minutes fit, but can plays 20-30, which will help him play more against Jamaica.

If you have a player, especially an attacker, and her rarely receives the ball that is usually a poor reflection upon him. Either his runs are mis-timed, he's not finding a way to get open, he can't win balls in the air, or (worst of all) his teammates do not trust him.

Unlike you, I don't really view that as a positive for CP.

Methinks there is no way CP plays any US matches or even travels.

I agree. Let him recover. I think a lot of the USMNT-oriented folks (you know, the ones who care about club soccer mostly as a way to hone our players' ability to excel at the NT level--not knocking them; I used to be one of them about 15 years ago :) --are worried that the NT will suffer if it hasn't had a chance to gel and get into its rhythm with their most prominent attacking player in the lineup. But what's really going to hurt is if said player isn't healthy. Let him rest and recover. Yes, it might be CP who could provide that needed spark to beat (or at least tie) Mexico with a second half appearance. But is it worth it? We are focused on 2022, not 2021. As we are currently on track to qualify for the WC, I'd rather take the big, fat "L" in Cincinnati than risk CP's health.

So they shouldn't and probably won't play him in the next round.

Aaronson, if he is healthy, should play in the Pulisic role.

All things considered, he is a better option than an unfit Pulisic at this time.

Or his teammates do not like him. Which may or may not be the player's fault.

I mean if he’s healthy he’s coming and if he’s not he won’t. Step 1 is him getting into full team training, which hasn’t happened yet but is the precursor to even being able to have the discussion.

Never really seemed to be a problem for him at Dortmund. When he was running with Aubameyang and Dembele there didn't seem to be many issues. This version of Chelsea is not a particularly good passing/offensive team.

Again, if he's healthy enough to make the bench for Chelski it will pretty much be up to CP if he wants to travel or not. And he might not if he's not game fit. But it won't be Chelski's call if he's recovered enough to figure for them before the break.

And he appears to be back in team training, meaning that assuming no further injuries that I don't think there is any way he's not on the next roster.

This team wins because they keep the ball out of the back of the net. 7 goals against a team at the bottom of the table with a red card isn't going to convince me otherwise.
