He did, and played well. One huge, crucial, difficult tackle of Immobile on one of Lazio's best few opportunities of the shutout.

There's a joke about match fixing in here somewhere. An Italian team and a Turkish team play a game in Istanbul where the away goalkeeper makes what looks like a calamitous and game deciding error when...

If I believed someone could place that missed clearance that perfectly, maybe, but that's a heck of a ball if you're trying to do that.

Best part was that the defender didn't have to try and clear it as there wasn't an attacker anywhere near. He pops the ball up, probably with a lot of spin and the keeper has to deal with a stupid, awkward ball coming down just inside the crossbar.
Like Omar Gonzalez's own goal in Couva, you could spend the next week trying to replicate it and wouldn't be able to.

Yet it still should have been a trivially easy play for the keeper, unlike Omar owngolazo.

Does anyone have some insight into why Yedlin lost his starting spot and then regained it?

Yedlin got injured back in April, so Oz took his spot. Then he came back, finished the season, but Gala upgraded the RB position for this season buying Sacha Boey from Ligue 1 (Rennes).

Boey has been injured all September, and Oz was sold in the summer, so Yedlin started again. But Boey is back now.

Boey got injured in today’s EL game. No idea how serious it is.

Not surprised. They rushed him back.

He had good stats though: most duels won, most interceptions, and 82% passing accuracy.

Just found it, he's injured again. Wow.

Both teams missed quite a few opportunities in the match, both halves of which were extended by eight minutes each due to stoppages over tensions between fans of both teams and police, in addition to injuries such as Galatasaray’s Sacha Boey, who had just recovered. Whether he will be able to play in Galatasaray’s next match against Çaykur Rizespor in Turkish Süper Lig remains unknown for now.

Yedlin played 90 minutes in a rough and tumble 3-2 win for Galatasaray over Rizespor. The winner was scored in the 90th+11 minute.

Yedlin is getting decent ratings - for example, the sainted Whoscored only has 2 starters ranked higher than him. If you grade him harshly, then he could have done better on both Rizespor goals. But the catastrophic errors that led to the first goal and the PK were made by teammates, and Yedlin was stranded by a teammate in an impossible position on the first goal. Based on my grainy feed of the second goal, I think Yedlin was covering the near post man on the corner, so perhaps he could have been a touch tighter on him.

I think he was involved in the tying goal. Maybe the pass before the pass?

Yedlin played 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Konyaspor today. The all-mighty Whoscored gave him an 8.0 match rating, listing him as the "Star of the Match".

OUR Yedlin? (Seriously, tho, he's looked pretty good for the USMNT when called on of late. Glad he's looking good for club as well.)

For those new to the Yedlin thread (not even that new really), a couple years ago there were some articles where DY discussed the challenge of developing a resilient mentality when he was trying to establish himself in the EPL (and Championship). He had to remake his game and prove himself to some pretty prominent managers and ended up with over 100 PL appearances (top 10 for USA field players).

He was never going to just go to Turkey and settle for a backup role.

Gala lost 2-1 and they seem to have settled into mid-table status at this point.

Stadium crowd was awesome today. After the second goal, were they playing the theme from Rocky?
