There's no doubt in my mind that if Ramirez had started this game Colombia would have scored a couple of goals.

Dominguez showed tonight why experience is important.

He needs to start against venezuela

Yes you can’t just give that position to someone unproven in the big leagues,he needs to keep playing for his team and become more experienced. In other news Noboa sentenced his outing with the selección ,his post criticizing Alfaro put the nail in his coffin.

Handball was such a clutch call, but TBH even if it was called off (which was justified), we still freaking almost dropped the match in the final seconds...ya'll see a trend?!?!

We got lucky this time (thank you VAR) but omg....we can't close out games like this anymore. The team looks stronger on the attack than when we sit back on defense.

This trend been going on since that game with Uruguay in Quito last year when they scored 2 last 10 minutes. It was ok then since we got 4 but it’s an awful statistic.

It seems like we can’t hold on to the ball in the final minutes, erratic passing and not enough pressing,we just let them take it,but I’m satisfied how we played in the first half,Plata is so much better for us in second half when their defense is tired and can’t control him.

Work and trying to avoid high blood pressure stopped me from watching this game. Didnt even opt for audio. But i was definitely refreshing google like a mfer.

How did we look? I can tell Dominguez was good. And then the typical Fergie time-esque defensive blunder. But how did Preciado look?

Hoping to catch the replay tomorrow,

You did yourself a favor ,this game was so stressful especially the last 10 minutes .like they say in Ecuador “de infarto”.Preciado did well in defense ,but his passing was still doo doo!

    Next game against Venezuela.

I want to wreck them so bad. Sink them down the table.

    It’s only wishful thinking.

I left the house pissed off thinking it was over. Called my Colombian friend who also thought they won and was celebrating. Luckily the VAR came to Ecuador’s rescue for the first time in history.

Well at least he contributed on one end. That's more than I remember in the CA from him.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth from those venecos from that 2007 Quito win. Still convinced that first game took us out of contention. Vizuete came in and lit it up but we fell short by 3 points or less if I remember correctly.

Yea haah I turned everything off and prepped for Thursday night football, but my father called me to debrief me lol He had to guts to watch it.

I almost walked out of class. I was so pissed when I saw 10+ added time plus a gol.

Uruguay seems to have hit a bad patch.

Preciado was surprisingly solid against Diaz but also props to Alfaro. He set up a defensive scheme where a midfielder always helped the fullback or cut the passing lane.

I like this 3 man midfield because it allowed us to transition from defense to attack MUCH more smoother than before.

Same brother. I'm still mad about that cheap win and I won't be happy until we hit them with a goleada.

This was me after they ruled the goal offside lmao

I feel like Alfaro will learn from his mistakes. He is learning the hard way but I know he has his mindset and priority to have us qualify. This is just the price we pay for having a coach who isnt familiar with our football and has never coached a NT. I feel like this has been a wake up call for Alfaro and the team. Dida preformed really well and came motivated lets hope that energy spreads to the rest of the team and that we keep improving. Im going to enjoy seeing Galindez back so that Dida really has some good competition for the starting spot.

Having someone someone influence the calls seem like an issue we will always have remember when rueda called a 32 y/o Carlos Vayas from seria B that was the biggest wtf call I can remember. But Im really happy so many players got looked into and had at least one chance to have been called. when did we ever have a coach look at so many players in such a short time ? The players who still havent gotten a chance at all on the NT could probably be counted with my hands.

We will not be counting on Mena, Estupiñan and Diego Palacios for the next game. It might make sense to consider calling up some of the LDU guys who have been performing at a high level - there have been some notable omissions on that side. Plus, I anticipate that we'll be getting Castillo back.

    What's wrong with Palacios?

If we go back to Quito which I'm more than likely sure we will then yeah it'll make sense to call up some of the Liga players if they're in form - Julio, Muñoz, Alcivar.

It was a tough match and the games are only gonna get harder. This is where the real pressure starts to weigh in on the players I really hope it lights the fire in them. I really didnt think we would be able to take points from Colombia away with Rueda of all people.

It seems we're trying out a completely new team for the friendly vs. Mexico

So far I've seen we've called up Janner Corozo, Joao Ortiz, Nilson Angulo, Jordy Alcivar, Jose Cevallos (Olmedo), and Gustavo Cortez.

I don't think a full roster has been announced.

There's also word that Liga might opt out of letting players go b/c the domestic tournament is taking a backseat and it will hurt clubs who would be missing key players. In this case, I think 4 Liga players would be absent from domestic play.
