Oh, and just so we're clear here.

Hunter Biden, in between smoking crack and snorting cocaine lines from the tight tummy of an underage girl, was clearly peddling the influence of the Big Guy to foreign powers.

If Donald Trump, Jr. or Ivanka did ANYTHING of that degree of obvious brazenness, so many heads would have exploded here on BS that it would have taken a fire house to wash away from this site all the cranial bits and pieces.

Oh, and just so we're clear here:

If the allegations and true and are proven in court, his ass belongs in jail.

I highly doubt anyone here on BigSoccer would disagree with that statement.

    They have done far worse.

Again, if the allegations against any of the Tr*mp cabal are proven in court, their asses belong in jail, as well.

If you follow Marcy Wheeler she gave a good debunking of how the Glemm conspiracy usually works

For instance regarding drones he claims MSM parroted the CIA line. But actually multiple outlets did real journalism and got people on the ground to speak to the victims families etc. It was this pressure that forced the administration to fess up.

But glemm pretends that didn't happen.

Same thing here. Multiple outlets sent journalists to verify the story but they all ended in the same place. The source for the emails was uncle Rudy.

That's why dear glemm ended up quiting the intercept. They wouldn't let him publish rubbish under their banner.

Of course the rubes are dumb enough to believe the vast conspiracy theory.

Depends on what it is? Influence peddling by Hunter is not actually illegal. If a company is dumb enough to pay him so much for his DC connections, that would not be criminal. It could of course be a crime by Joe is he had acted in certain ways - but there never has been evidence of that?

Exactly - because Ivanka and Jared actually worked for the White House. Ditto Trump is not allowed to take money from foreigners yet he clearly routinely did.

Marcy puts it better than me.

it's fairly clear HB was hacked somewhere along the line, and then Drunk uncle Rudy manufactured the laptop origin story to pretend he hadn't got the stolen goods via his charming friends - but of course it was all much more amateurish than '16 and the media weren't buying it.

So that's where Glem''s silly conspiracy falls apart, if indeed anyone would be so dumb as to believe the media would cover up Dem misfeasance to defeat Trump. 2016 shows that is a laughable idea.

That is why I stated "true" and "proven in court."
The allegations may be true, but may not be illegal.
If on the other hand, the allegations are true and are illegal, his ass should be in jail.
Frankly, the "allegations" are so nebulous, that I have no idea whether or not they are legal or illegal. To be honest, it is pretty far down my list of priorities to investigate.

That's the thing about this conspiracy. There is no actual evidence Jo did any criming.

I am not a fan of influence peddling. E.g Mad Dog Mattis at Theranos. But it isn't illegal.

What ivanka was doing on the other hand was clearly corrupt.

    "Jo" or Hunter?

By the way, influence peddling SHOULD be illegal.

Can you please just call him Glenn? Or come up with another nickname that isn’t…well….totally lame? Seriously….when I read your posts I find it incredibly difficult to keep reading past it. It’s one thing to be juvenile but funny….your nicknames just aren’t.

I am not a lawyer, but, as the saying goes, you can indict a ham sandwich.

You know what else is not illegal? Flying on Jeffrey Epstein's air plane with the final destination being his private island.

But if you're doing it, you know what characterizes the stuff you're doing?

It's at the very least, very very dirty.

Anyway, we do have an emoluments clause. Remember that? You know the clause where Dems complained that Trump was letting out his DC hotel rooms to foreign visitors -- at cost, if you remember.

But Hunter running around on Air Force 2 with Pops to China was just A-effin-OK.

You guys are in la la land.

I also call him GG on here so how about I do that?

It isn't intended to be funny - it's a twitter thing to misspell names/handles of abusive accounts to reduce the risk of troll/bot/boi swarms . Also phrases are often muted.

But you are right - on here it's not an issue, just a habit.

ETA i just checked my muted stuff and it's fascinating how much abusive crap I forgot existed :p

Yes - that is pretty clear.

And so here we get straight back to the problems with this conspiracy.

HB is not a government official, nor an elected official. Now I don't agree with the rules of influence peddling in the US, but if a private company wants to pay him shit loads of money because of his rolodex, then that is not illegal. Not in the US. Not in NZ.

As far as Biden goes, there is simply no evidence he used his office inappropriately, received any emoluments etc etc

If there was actual evidence GG and co would be spanking it all over the internet.

That's why GG raves on about the "authentic emails" but never has been able to find a "there" there

The irony of course is that Trump did receive emoluments, and Ivanka / Jared corruptly used their office, and GG has nothing to say about it ...

Guess who has the #1 late comedy show.

I have never seen his show, then again, I have not watched any late night comedy shows in years.

I didn't know there was a right-wing comedy show. It makes sense that it would win the ratings, because it has that market to itself.

I check the Babylon Bee website occasionally. There will usually be something funny there, and their podcast can be interesting. But for every funny thing, there are multiple articles that are just fusking embarrassing. For example...

    https://babylonbee.com/news/powerful-aoc-shows-up-to-iron-dome-vote-in-dress-reading-kill-the-jews

WASHINGTON, D.C.—In a powerful statement against hatred, bigotry, and the Jews, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez showed up to vote on funding for the Iron Dome in a dress reading "Kill the Jews," sources confirmed Thursday.

Ocasio-Cortez got out of a limousine and walked down the red carpet toward the chambers of Congress as paparazzi snapped thousands of photos of her bougie, designer "Kill the Jews" dress.

"Wow, absolutely stunning," said an Access Hollywood commentator as she ran down what everyone was wearing while heading in for the vote. "Such an incredible statement! Powerful. Moving. And not the least bit ironic." She then checked her dictionary. "Yep, I'm right. Not ironic at all, technically speaking."

Many wondered how Ocasio-Cortez would vote, as the dress seemed to indicate some kind of desire to stop the Jews from defending themselves against rocket attacks. "It could go either way here, as it's not clear what she's saying there," said one CNN anchor. "It's anybody's ball game at this point."

and, on the same theme . . .

It’s like Karl’s posts. They assume you live within their alternative reality, in which case their jokes and references make sense. To those of us living on Earth Prime, it just elicits head shakes.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the purest definition of the concept:

    NO SENSE OF HUMOR.

Though I will confess that SD can be a little droll from time to time, which should elicit hope.

    Of course not much.

Back to getting this thread toward the top of the list now.

Here's something about our "trusted media" that you all probably didn't notice, since here in the P&CE echo chamber everybody seems to be fixated on Trump's excretory activities and whether I do a stiff armed open palmed salute every morning to a picture of President Mean Tweet.

(Wait...forgot this morning....let me put on my Lazio Di Canio shirt... Sig TRUMP!!)

OK, back from the daily salute ritual.

Anyway, it's how for our blue shirt wearing members of the 4th Estate, it's not the STORY, it's the Republican REACTION to the story that REALLY counts.

    We have headlines like this:

While Clinton tries to change the subject, Republicans pounce on email criticism

    or most recently

There are many and sundry variations where Republicans are "pouncing" or "seizing" or doing nasty Republican things that they do in order for the Blue Team's media fellators to...um.... soft pedal whatever issue of the day MIGHT make the Blue Team look stupid, incompetent, very bad, inept, ridiculous, preposterous, or....drat!!!

I have run out of adjectives for the moment, but you get the idea. I think.

No? You don't get it? "Earth Prime" must be little barren of thinking power, apparently.

You have to read the news with a more cynical view. But you can't, because cognitive dissonance rules your cerebellum.

    For example

    https://apnews.com/article/joe-bide...onnell-bills-e444072fb3b2f7d5a02793bf48d9ae96

The Senate Leader has it by the throat!! The throat I tell you!!!

McConnell seizes on debt standoff to undermine Biden agenda

Republicans just don't "pounce" or "seize"...those dastardly bums, they also WEAPONIZE!!!
    https://www.vanityfair.com/news/202...nizing-afghanistan-chaos-to-get-ahead-in-2022

REPUBLICANS ARE WEAPONIZING AFGHANISTAN CHAOS TO GET AHEAD IN 2022

So, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Xes and Xers, stuck in the social construct of LGTBQABCXYZ1234 universe, the highly bluish Earth Prime land, brush away the mental cobwebs, the delusional conclusions, and the inability to see reality, and remember, when viewing the "media"....

When Republicans screw up, THAT's the story. When Dems screw up it's the Republican REACTION that's the story

He's moving past the traditional opposition because he is....what's the word I am looking for.....oh, yeah, he's funny.

The other guys are woke scolds AND. . when they sneer at those who haven't been vaccinated and have other deadly health problems and argue that such unvaccinated deplorables should be turned away from hospitals that could save their lives and instead die....

....they are eugenicists. It's the lefty national SOCIALIST thing to be!!!!

I'm sure there is a petition around you all could sign.

When I was a kid, there was a kid in the neighborhood who like to find these little bugs we call daddy long legs. I think they were spiders but they might have been insects. Anyway, he thought it was funny to catch them and then pull their legs off.

I didn’t think it was funny.

What most people call "daddy long legs" are more accurately called harvestmen. They're arachnids, not insects, but I believe are more closely related to ticks and mites than spiders. There are also true daddy long leg spiders, easily distinguished by the fact that they have two separate body sections rather than just one.
