Depends on time of year! Both Challenge Cups have been 6-8 games per month as well, and during the last month or two of the regular season, it's always usually busier than the midseason cadence (i.e. 5-6 games per month instead of 3-4).

It's indeed quite interesting that Juventus' coach Joe Montemurro rested his two main stars Cristiana Girelli and Barbara Bonansea both in the match vs Servette from last week and in the league match vs Napoli this week-end, probably to have them at their most brilliant state of fitness on the evening of the match vs Chelsea.

I didn't watch the match and I didn't look at highlights yet, but it seems this strategy at least partly paid, since Bonansea scored and the final result of the match was much closer than some could have thought.

The Women's Champions' League groups have been a welcomed addition and will let some clubs have more matches than they used to get in the past, but in terms of actual qualification for the knockout phase, it doesn't seem, judging from the results posted so far, that there are many chances or any upsets, are there? :cautious:

No, it a league format there are less chance for an upset in the end result. I suspect we will have some upsets in matches but none in which teams goes on from the groups.

Yeah, all the teams are guaranteed more money with the new format, but we are looking at the last 8 with only teams from France, Germany, Spain and England.

Basically only Group C will see an upset with either an English or German team going out. Those two teams did finished third in their respective leagues. Otherwise the winners and runner-ups from the top 3 League are likely to go through.

We are one third through the groupstage now. 16 matches have been played. Ten of them have been won by a margin of three goals or more. And Nordic teams still haven't scored a goal in six matches.

We need a tier two type of European competition for clubs from countries who are not attracting top international established stars, but rely more on home grown talent. That won't come soon though. :coffee:

Koge was really close to punish Barca's flippancy towards them. ;)

Girelli scores at 22' and Juventus are ahead by 1-0.

Wolfsburg will need to work on that goal difference... :p

Enough time to score three more goals and get level with Chelsea.

    Shots 12:2 for Wolfsburg

Juventus' converting ratio compared to Wolfsburg's one comforts me. It looks like the Wolfs need 10 chances to score one goal, while Juve could only need one well-placed ball to go ahead again. :coffee:

Waßmuth:thumbsup::p Now Juventus needs to play more offensive and Wolfsburg can score two more.

I've got the feeling that Wolfsburg's goal difference didn't change tonight... :whistling:

Getting level with Chelsea? Maybe another time...

    Yes, probably. And...?

She was correctly sent off: two clear YCs, one for stomping on Caruso and the second for tactical foul on Bonfantini.

The referee correctly gave 5 YCs to Wolfsburg: if you play with fire this way, a Red Card will eventually come and it's part of the game. :coffee: The Wolves have chosen to be quite physical, but this kind of strategic plans also have some natural consequence.
