Marco Rose gave an update today saying that Reyna's still out for this week. https://www.ruhr24.de/bvb/bvb-erlin...e-aufstellung-borussia-dortmund-91004347.html “Julian Brandt trained fully yesterday. If that works again today, he is certainly an option for tomorrow evening. Gio [Reyna] will still be out. He's not back in team training yet. We have to look at Erling Haaland and Marco Reus. It will certainly be tight for both of them."
If he’s not back for team training yet, it doesn’t sound like there’s any chance he’ll be available this window.
Fifth page find. Any time line on this guy's return? Incredible how spoiled we are to have 5 or 6 pages of what would have been relevant players a few years ago.
Thorgan Hazard has received the all clear and should be fit for the game against Mainz. Gio Reyna's injury has healed. But because he hasn't trained for more than a month, he faces a race against time to be fit for the Mainz clash. [Ruhr Nachrichten] #BVB— BVB Buzz (@BVBBuzz) October 8, 2021

I was unfamiliar with the Kopa award Congratulations to both Jude Bellingham and Gio Reyna on being nominated for @francefootball's Kopa Award! 👏 pic.twitter.com/AzgcKVcb8D— Borussia Dortmund (@BlackYellow) October 8, 2021
You are the gold standard (of award familiarity), yet it would seem impolite for Reyna to turn this one down. Better to accept graciously, having practiced a 30-second elevator-ride response to the inevitable 'WTF is the Kopa Award?' inquiries.
Good news on the Gio front.... Looks like we will see him back in the squad by the time they play AJAX in 8 days... best case scenario... he is back this weekend. https://bvbbuzz.com/2021/10/09/borussia-dortmund-injury-update-gio-reyna-closing-return/
I saw a retweet from SBI, only place I have seen it. None of the account aggregators from Juve's side seemed to pick it up.
Yeah, I've not seen anything that makes it seem serious either. Fun while it lasted... for 4 minutes...
For S's and G's since no one is commenting in here. I will try and imagine what it would look like if he was to be on the team currently. Current formation/tactics 4-4-2ish SirChesny Danilo-Bonucci-De Ligt-Alex Sandro ---------Bentancur-Locatelli -------------------------------Rabiot Chiesa -----------Dybala---Morata With Gio? 4-2-3-1 SirChesny Danilo---Bonucci-De Ligt---Alex Sandro ------------RCM-Locatelli Cuadrado-------------------Chiesa ------------------Gio -----------------Morata Depends on whether Dybala is re-signed. I don't think Juve would spend the money (whether they have it or not) for someone to back-up Dybala and Juve have Kulusevski who they just paid a good 40m+ for. If they can't re-sign Dybala, maybe it makes sense? I would love to have him on the squad, I think he would be great at linking the midfield to forwards and something Juve desperately needs (IMO). I just don't see Reyna going anywhere except the PL (unfortunately), He would be a solid replacement for Isco/Asensio at Real!
I have this completely baseless theory, born of years of reading bad novels and watching soap operas stoned, that he will go to Spain to redeem his dad's mistake choice of UVA/Germany over Barca. You read it here first!
Some rumor that he's 2-3 weeks away: 🚑 Injury update on Gio Reyna's hamstring. Despite reports in Germany saying return was close, sources tell me he will be out at least 2-3 more weeks. Assuming he is fit in three weeks, that should put him in line to return to the USMNT for the huge WCQ games in Nov.— Roger Gonzalez (@RGonzalezCBS) October 13, 2021
What tf happened, exactly? He's been out months. I really hope this isn't one of those cases of "player had x injury, and x injury was actually y, or got y injury either through mis- or under-diagnosis of x (or from bad luck) but we never actually told anyone about y". We've had a few of those over the years.
I thought it's been ~1 month. Hamstring usually takes 4 weeks to heal. If you try to come back earlier, it usually recurs.
The US, El Salvador game was September 2. That was when the tweaking of the hamstring occurred. I don't remember if I read when it happened during the game, i.e. did he play on it a while?. He wasn't subbed off if I remember correctly.
What a shitty injury. This will completely throw off his club situation, and I doubt we see him in the US squad in Nov.
What a bummer. I hope the "sources" are wrong... and the initial reports in Germany saying he would be back soon are correct. But he is a Yank... so I have to assume the worst when it comes to injuries. If it really is a 2-3 week return then I don't see him playing in the next qualifying window... and that hurts. We need him more than CP IMO.
