exactly, now it will be 3 vs 1 and the team team will be buzzing with confidence. hopefully no major injuries though.

I also just found out Qatar world cup will be held in November.. this means the there is alot of time to fine tune the team and including in Nation league (group stage) which will be between june and September. (googled). with this I think there can be more changes and fine tuning to the team if more players start banging the door like danjuma and lang. honestly I had no idea , WC was going to be Novembers. this changes a whole lot of things

the jan transfers can be crucial here aimed at VDBeek situation, Veerman as well the levekusen contingent is also worth looking come the end of season. performance should speak its volume in other words.

It’s encouraging that in two matches LvG was able to “discover” both Lang and Danjuma. Both answered the bells (albeit against the pushovers Latvia and Gibraltar). Now all the sudden, the wing options are pretty stacked. Should be a very healthy competition going forward. Knife sharpens knife. And nice insurance in case of injuries.

Interestingly enough, while the forward position are getting younger and more exciting, the midfield, this time around, I thought was regressing. LvG stuck with the old timers Klaassen and Gini… the latter was rather disappointing (likely due to lack of playing times). Frenkie had very mediocre performances (lost confidence in Barcelona struggle?) To make it worse, LvG didn’t seem to get the most from his midfield youngsters… Gravenberch and Til (little impacts), and Koopmeiners (WTF, zero minute in two matches?!?). Beyond this, the depth is not all that great… Donny is still in exile. De Roon is archaic.

So yeah, put 1 plus 1 together… I think the argument for Berghuis shifting to midfield is getting stronger by the day. (And it’s not like Berghuis is lighting up fireworks from the RW).

Or drop Memphis to a no. 10 :whistling: (though this would take the most reliable goal scorer away from the opposing net)

This will be an interesting decision for Van Gaal whether or not Virgil plays against Montenegro.

Extremely impressed by the creative skill, movement, and pace of Lang & Danjuma.

I am not at all surprised by their good performances having seen them both play a few times this season for Club Brugge and Villarreal.

How about Malen as the #9 and Memphis dropping into the hole as the #10?

Let’s face it Memphis drops into midfield a lot already and is the fulcrum for Oranje so he’s far from a rigid central striker or #9.

Having players with quality, trickery, and pace with him could really be explosive

Oranje on top form will have waves of attacking options with lots of movement. Let’s not forget Gakpo either. Great young, quality competition is a beautiful thing.

Dumfries raids down the right could be even more devastating with Lang out there with him.

Berghuis just gets in the way, and has very little impact time after time. His predictable way of playing by cutting inside 90% of the time is not good enough. He is just too slow and easy to defend, and that being said his playing time has to be numbered for Oranje.

Frenkie not at his best but I’m confident he’ll get back to his excellent World Class level soon. His confidence is likely down due to the mess that is Barcelona.

I was also very disappointed that no Malacia, Koop, or Gravenberch today.

Don’t write off Wijnaldum. His clever runs, workrate, holding the ball under pressure, and changing direction are massively important.
Perhaps he will move into a holding role like he played in a lot for Liverpool especially if this new attacking Oranje develops, but he should be getting more playing time at PSG.

Gonna role on with Blind which is just absurd, stupid and basically suicide.
Absolutely a liability Blind is against real teams, but Van Gaal is clouded in his thought process of the slow unathletic son of the Assistant Manager.

Virgil, De Vrij, De Ligt (Don’t forget about him) are all World Class, and I’m pretty confident and comfortable with the them all.

Bijlow entrenched as #1 it seems.

Maybe Flekken will move up the ladder as Drommel in doghouse right now.

Still work to be done of course, and it’s a couple of weak teams the past 2 matches, but I think we are looking at a great future.

thats what was in mind as well. sort of 4-2-4 but the question is who should the second CM along side Frenkie and the back up as well. Im also thinking now looking at the new time frame, van ginkel could get back into contention as well. if he gets his fitness level up. he has the experience factor but he has to prove himself more defensively as well. he still tends to let go / hesitant on 50-50 balls due to his injury I guess.

I forgot about that game, but yes you are right. That was a friendly however, I wanna see how well he does against top countries in our upcoming 2022 Nations L. games.

Assuming we qualify for WC2022 Oranje will play a bunch of games against A-group Nation L. countries next year, and I hope gets to start a couple of those. I think he's earned it now

This would work well with a double pivot of Koopmeiners and Frenkie who could give Memphis the ability to roam with Weghorst as the target man up front.

I understand the reasoning behind dropping Depay to number 10, however, as already mentioned, it seems counterproductive to shift our most prolific goal-scorer to a position further away from goal.

Not saying it won’t work, just saying it seems counterintuitive. We could definitely try it out though.

If VVD has one yellow card already then I hope LVG will rest him for Montenegro game and play De Ligt with De Vrij. This is what depth for. Up front we have depth now which is good:
Wingers: Lang, Danjuma, Berghuis, Gakpo and Malen.
Striker: Memphis, Weghorst (and I think Malen or Til can be here as well)

Midfields: FDJ, Klaassen, Wijnaldum, Koop, Gravenberch, Til, De Roon
This now seems to be our weakest. I have 2 concerns here:
    1. Wijnaldum lost starting position at PSG to Ander Herrera, Idrissa Gueye and Marco Verratti. I hope he earns his playing time back or else he turns into another Van De Beek.
    2. Koop, Gravenberch and Til have not given much playing time. When they come in, you see a sudden drop in the way the team is playing.

Defenses: Blind, VVD, De Vrij, Dumfries, Malacia, De Ligt, Ake, Timber
Blind is still a concern for me. Malacia and Timber have not showed much with a small playing time given.

Bijlow is cementing his #1 position.

I hope after Montenegro and Norway game (assume we qualify with either 4 or 6 points) some playing time will be given more to Koop, Gravenberch, Til, Malacia, Timber, Flekken or Drommel. If Karsdorp's performance or any midfield's, LB's are good, should be called up to take a look. The next Nation League matches In June and Sep 2022 will be a good test for this team against stronger teams (unless we can have friendlies before that) before the World Cup in November.

  11. Orange Squad Ratings by AD Sportwereld:
Oranje op Rapport | ‘Flitsende’ Danjuma met Memphis uitblinker in de Kuip

    Samenvatting
Het Nederlands elftal heeft de wedstrijd tegen Gibraltar in de WK-kwalificatie ruim gewonnen (6-0). Memphis Depay scoorde twee keer. Verslaggever Mikos Gouka legt de elf van Oranje langs de meetlat.

    Mikos Gouka 11-10-21, 23:13 Laatste update: 07:39

In verdedigende opzicht werkeloos.

    Davy Klaassen 6,5

Depay now has 14 goals in his last 14 Oranje matches.
He's only 27 so he could finish topscorer of alltime.
Sometimes stats are deceiving though since many of his goals have come against minnows.
Having said that I think he should be our undisputed striker for now

    Van Persie - 50
    Huntelaar - 42
    Kluivert - 40
    Bergkamp - 37
    Robben - 37
    Depay - 35
    RvN - 35

Yes, kudos to Memphis. I posted similar comments on the Attacker thread... Voetbalstats.nl has a pretty comprehensive statistical breakout.

    https://www.voetbalstats.nl/topscnedxi.php

Oranje top-scorer in WC or EC championship rounds are the legends...

    1. Dennis Bergkamp (10 goals)
    2. Robin van Persie (9)
    3. Patrick Kluivert (8)

Memphis "only" had four... but I don't think it is a lack of trying, simply a function of Oranje, as a team, had some trouble qualifying as of late :p

So cheers for Memphis lifting up that record of 4 goals to (at least) 10 goals - while propelling Oranje to the first WC glory next year.... but let's beat Norway first next month :D

  15. He wants the money now going to UEFA EURO's every four years.
I suggest UEFA and the European clubs tell FIFA they break away from FIFA and invite Brasil, Argentina, Mexico every four years in a real World Cup. As it is after the last 32 played no other countries are part of the game anyway.
Let's see what FIFA can make with a WC without the big Euro countries playing. I don't think sponsors will be banging on the door for participation.
They'll be banging UEFA's door to join.
Just make the threat to FIFA, but as such also to the corrupt countries backing this all in hope for cash from FIFA, that that big pile of money shrinks to nothing if they keep supporting anti UEFA/European FIFA machinations.

Anyway, if the UEFA countries tell they donot participate in those extra WC, sponsors arenot going to pay for it. Nobody wants to watch it in that case, so for sponsors it's a waste of money.

The keys to the secret Swiss vault are currently on their way and will arrive within the next 24-48 hours!

  17. You can't bribe UEFA with their own money. Remember it's the UEFA EURO money FIFA is trying to steal.
The only ones supporting the idea are the other confederations. These expect to get the money that now goes to the UEFA countries.
Remember however nobody in the world is going to watch a world cup without the top European countries, which are the ones that make up the last 16 for the biggest part and almost the only ones being the last 8.

I hope Memphis can continue to score, but I would like to see him more consistently score in knockout round or in important game (like Norway game coming up). I still remember Robben’s goal vs Uruguay, Bergkamp’s goal vs Argentina or Kluivert’s goal vs Brazil… or RVP’s goal vs Spain that started the come back.

 I was trying to stay with players on the list and MVB was not on the list, but his goal vs Russia is the best goal which I still remember vividly where I was watching that final. Sneijder also scored important goals when needed. Memphis needs to do that, raising his performance when it matters most. I don't know how many PK Memphis scored for Oranje as it seemed he is designated to take in the match (and to be honest, he needs to practice and mix it up better). We also needs to improve free kick (again is it only Memphis taking free kick as no one else is good at free kick?). We used to have Koeman, Gullit, Witschge, Seedorf, FDB, Sneijder, VDV, Robben, RVP who were good with free kick (Koeman probably the best).

I think Berghuis is much better at free kicks than Memphis. Gravenberch, if he plays, is also very good.
