Injury prone guys are never 'the guy for a big club' folks. My expectations for Pulisic's prospects as a world class player are down as of now. It's been multiple seasons where he misses a chunk of time now.
I suppose all he can do is when he's healthy, he can prove he's quality and can deliver in that limited time.
Pulisic is on the Robben track in his career. I think he can continue to stick with elite clubs if he can produce seasons like 2019-2020 every other year- even with continuing injury concerns. I've given up in thinking Pulisic will ever (hardly at all) from distance. Robben was better in that regard.
He's on Robben's track surely based on his injury history but hasn't done as much as performance to warrant big club keeping hold of him despite the injury..Robben did that. When he comes back, CP will be under heavy pressure to perform at a high level or he'll be move.
Well currently he’s at the Jets game in London Christian Pulisic repping the Jets in London 💥 @brfootball (via @nyjets)pic.twitter.com/k6kpgA4wTz— Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) October 10, 2021 Apparently despite being from PA he’s a long time Jets fan "It was really special. When I heard they were going to be in London, I had to make sure I was at the game" — Christian Pulisic (@cpulisic_10) chats with @JeaneCoakley after attending the London game to root for the Jets. ⚽️🏈💂♀️🏴 pic.twitter.com/Q1FRmWUSNJ— Ralph Vacchiano (@RalphVacchiano) October 10, 2021
Considering the above quote, I hope he only found out about the Jets game AFTER he was injured and unavailable for WCQs.
Interesting that Pulisic is a Newcastle Jets fan.... I'm surprised that he even watches A-league, always had him down as more of a Sydney FC or Melbourne Victory fan...
The Jets? Are you fxxxng kidding me? Some Eagles fans are going to have something to say about that. At least pick a winning team for goodness sakes. I can't recall any central Pa friends or family that like the Jets. Not one.
That is a strange choice for Pulisic, but hey - I know a guy born/raised in San Francisco who roots for the Broncos.
He should be doing anything - crack, kissing McKennie's sister, putting out a cigar in someone's eye - instead of being at that game... or having the stupidity to admit to being a Jets fan from Hershey... Go stand on a Grouper, kid...
It's a brutal competition at Chelsea for the forward positions. With his injury it will be even harder for Pulisic to break into the team.
He has 14 goals and 8 assists in 3,544 league minutes for Chelski. That's a goal contribution every 161 minutes. That's not great, but it's not terrible either. I see no reason why he won't be used as a sub in most games and as a starter in some games once he's healthy. That is quite comparable to Willian, who played the same position in a similar role, and he never got benched permanently. He had 18 goals and 22 assists in 6,596 minutes, that is a goal contribution every 165 minutes in his last three years --although he had declined.
To get a better impression about the competition you maybe should rather use the stats from this year. Despite Lukaku and to a lesser extent Mount, nobody can be sure to start. The injury situation surely doesn't help him either. I am curious how the winter transfer window will work out. I can easily see one of Havertz, Zyiech or Pulisic to change clubs.
No one has a role similar to Pulisic this year. Also, so far, this season, Pulisic has played around 80 minutes. Not enough to make a comparison. If we do last season, Puli had 4 goals and 2 assists in 1,735 league minutes. A goal contribution every 289 minutes. The guy playing on the left while he was injured was Havertz, but he didn't have a similar role. Kai managed 4 goals and 5 assists in 1,519 league minutes. A goal contribution every 169 minutes.
There was some discussion that his dad grew up on Long Island. That would make more sense as a family team if true.
I think it's pretty simple. Feed the beast and you will play. Lukaku will score if he gets the ball in the right spot - and/or he will open big lanes when doubled. If you smartly use him to get assists or capitalize on the space, you will get numbers. CP has the skillset to do that - so if he executes I'd see him getting time and impacting if/when healthy
