You know what's funny? I've seen pics of those who made racist gestures towards Yoshida and most of them were dark skinned and I was like...what the? Look who's talking! :whistling:

Someone meanwhile is mentioning that Moriyasu is risking on Tuesday.

    Possible replacement? Kenta Hasegawa.

Oh, just fudge me. There's no way out, really?

Not totally sure but I believe they made slanted-eyes gesture that ultimately provoked Yoshida. Funny seeing their government put so much effort and money into civilizing its people but alas, you can't polish a turd.

Yeah I've also just read the report.

Is Kenta Hasegawa any good? His record in club level is kinda impressive.

My impression of his Gamba or Tokyo team is quite good, too, very attacking attractive teams.

Seriously, I think the JFA would be wasting their time going after Kenta Hasegawa or any Japanese manager right now unless the next guy is groomed under Joachim Löw (or someone else of that calibre) for a number of years before taking over himself.

Scummy people. But the worst in all of this is how weak FIFA is at punishing countries for incidents with racist or homophobic undertones coming from the crowd. Those countries should be banned with successive home matches behind closed doors and thus not make a single penny. Nothing works better than hurting the wallet and then forcing federations to give lifetime bans to spectators.

Kenta Hasgawa has not impressed in the ACL thus far imo, he did completed the triple with Gamba in 2014 with Usami on form but has not really done much in recently.
Still think Okada might be the most suitable option but if he is really retired as rumored, would not mind taking a gamble with Oniki even though he is also equally not impressive in ACL, but he might be able to mix with the players better compared with Moriyasu and Hasegawa, etc. as rarely heard of news about players being dissatisfied with him.

Guys, let's remain civil and stick to the sporting side if possible.
Yes, some people have been scum. People like that are everywhere.

Agreed. Unhinged people are everywhere and sadly it's something we can't do anything about except for raising awareness and trying to educate the masses as much as possible.
And to be fair, i've also read that some of their fans went to social media to apologize to Yoshida which is nice.

I guess i'll need to take a break from posting in this forum until the next match and I apologize for my tone in my recent posts, I just couldn't help it.

An attack-minded manager nowadays requires a team with high stamina and work rate. It might be that Japan is well suited to be a gegenpress team.

Dont apologize. People are to afraid to tell that certain fans do this more than others. Just as in society itself. Political correctness and cowardness I call it.

Just as in Europe there is certain fans that always is involed in this. Racist abuse against colored players. Happend just a few weeks ago in Hungary , they were kids also, embarrasing.

I wish Shohei Ohtani had chosen football instead of baseball...:( He has everything to succeed as a centre forward.

Happened in Jleague quite a few times too, sadly.
Is it important to condemn those actions? Yes.
Does that mean we have to brush an entire nation in a certain way? No. Otherwise we go at their level.
Political correctness has nothing to do with this.
I'm well aware that certain clubs have historically more right-wing extremists among their ultras who do shitty stuff, for example. That still doesn't mean the average fan acts like that.

Not bashing a whole nation, just saying some nations somehow do this frequently.

They are not. They only have a competent coach who is able to put the pieces together.

Looks like a cool dude, Japan definitely needs some swagger back. But playing attractive football helps when you have stars like Kagawa and Honda.

What's the reaction been like in the Japanese press? Is Moriyasu under any kind of pressure from the media?

The media called for Moriyasu's resign since last year's Asian U23 Cup. But the JFA waited for the Olympics' result, and they considered the 4th place somewhat 'acceptable', although through some random yahoo jp's comments I think most of diehard Japanese fans were fed up with him.

I checked and Hasegawa's Gamba was even beaten by Moriyasu's Sanfrecce lol. Well, J League fans may have better information than me, for now I just have to wait.

Most of football pundits, as well as former Japanese internationals such as Ruy Ramos and Nobutoshi Kaneda are harshly criticising Moriyasu. The #FireMoriyasu hashtag was among the top Twitter trends shortly after the match against Saudi Arabia.

It makes a world of difference to have a competent coach.

This is why I personally believe that the JFA must jump on the rare opportunity of hiring a World Cup-winning head coach in Joachim Löw. That can buy enough time to groom a proper successor under his tutelage. That successor will eventually move up the ladder to carry on a long-term vision that can be successful in Asia and beyond.

One interesting thing was that Löw started with the German National Team as an assistant to Jürgen Klinsmann, then became the boss for 15 years, and then stepped down to be replaced by a man who served under him at the peak of their success. It's the kind of continuity I want to see with Japan.

@Kakeru I am sorry to tell you that given the current circumstances appoiinting a foreign coach with no whatsoever experience (especially recent experience) with Japanese football is like committing a suicide.

Any foreign coach needs at least a year to familiarise himself with Japanese football and players.

It might be a good idea to bring a foreigner after the 2022 WC, not now, he will do more damage than Moriyasu.

Add to this that Japanese football had grown exponentially in the last two decades, and now has its own shape, culture, and philosophy. A foreigner with no previous experience or knowledge about Japanese football can do more harm than benefit.

I don't like being harsh, but what you are saying is very naïve. So, stop it, as it will not happen, and it is not beneficial or smart approach by any chance, especially given the name you are suggesting

Joachim Loew was part of the German NT setup before he managed Germany and has no experience coaching outside Germany. Let alone the fact that his insistence on sticking with his old way of doing things, and sticking with some of his favourites was a big factor in Germany's poor performances in the last 3 tournaments.

So, no please. I can understand if you are suggesting a name like Arsene Wenger or Dragan Stojikovic, but not Loew.

Finally, Japan is a well-established football nation. Unlike China, who depends on corruption and money laundry to operate their league, and is yer to develop its own football culture.
