That's why Wes looks shorter - he's just getting wider!

The black stripes are slimming however.

12.20 BST: Football Insider claims that any club wanting to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie will have to pay €35m.

McKennie, 23, was linked with a move to West Ham, as well as Tottenham and Arsenal, this summer. But the United States international won't be allowed to depart unless Juve land around double the €18.5m they paid Schalke to sign him permanently after his loan expired earlier this year.

I’ve never heard of Football Insider. How reliable are they? Nothing coming out of Italy right now, except that one site reporting what FI is reporting.

I didn't see the 2nd somehow. I do see him throwing himself about, showing good touches and getting forward. Would be nice if he scored.

He blew three chances and a quasi fourth where Chiesa laid it off for him but Chiesa prob should have shot. Much better in the second half overall but mediocre is the word for Wes today

He's getting a ton of backlash from the Juve fan base.

Let's be honest now - this was always an odd mix, in spite of last season, where in a vacuum he was pretty good, while the team as a whole underperformed.

When that Juve deal went down it was really surprising that a possession team would see use in him. On paper he created more problems than he solved.

Direct to an upper-mid table in the EPL like Tottenham and Everton, like seemingly will happen indirectly, always made more sense. Now he'd get it w/ a stain that didn't need to occur.

It was fun while it lasted, but is that worth it? It was probably short-sighted.

Welp… we can only defend him for so long, as American fans.

    He’s been atrocious.

With so many YAs getting relegated each season, and big teams underperforming when playing them, it's just a matter of time until fans start thinking we bring bad juju.

Oh come on lol. Chelsea just won the champions league. Barcelona copa del Rey. Juve did win two trophies. Salzburg won multiple.

take your “juju” (something that isn’t even a thing) and shove it.

Underperforming is a team phenomenon, especially with Juve.
I don’t think euro fans are so concerned with pinning it on Americans as a collective, they aren’t that diabolical. We get in our own heads with this stuff.

it is a shame that you have become a full on troll. damn .... talk about biased.

Weston went to Juve because of good performances in BL and he got some good PT from Pirlo. Pirlo struggled but that masked the teams poor performance which Ronaldo's presence hid and Juve simply is not performing what they used to show. Weston has to simply do better. Not a reflection on other YAs.

Sargent's mistake was to go to Bremen and now Norwich - two perennially poor teams.

Reynolds needs to get out of Roma - the Jerk One is just not going to give young players - more specifically an American - a sniff at the pitch.

So Pulisic and Reyna are the reason Dortmund have not won the BL?

Where are the "so many YAs getting relegated each season?"

The big lessons I get from all of this is (a) some of our young players need to carefully handle being overseas and their conduct (thinking Wes versus how CP and Reyna have handled it) and (b) be very careful what team you go to - the situation is far more important than the starting pay ... (Pepi to Ajax would be great).

Many of our younger players getting plucked out of the MLS are looking to get to squads overseas where they can challenge themselves. But many of those situations and just poor.

I'm not going to lie and praise players who are not living up to expectations just to please people around me. That'd be unethical.

Weah, Miazga, and Busio deserve praise. They get it.

Sargent, Weston, Dest, Adams, Green do not. They don't get it.

If you define telling the truth as trolling, that's your issue, not mine.

This is solely on Weston. Can’t blame this on Allegri, he’s gotten a ton of shots.

He’ll likely be anchored to the bench for the rest of the season - he’s been bad. He was the one of the 2 worst players on the pitch (Bernadesci is always up there too).

He got into good spots today but he made about 6 DREADFUL decisions/passes. It’s just not good enough at this level. This isn’t the MLS.

Dude - the "truth telling" that "fans" will "turn on" US players because they perceive "bad juju" is truth born of 4-way window pane on a Kits beach at sunset...

I mean, you can say "come on, it was a joke" and that's kind of buyable, but trying to defend that statement as "it was ethical and accurate" is a hysterical pile of horse poo... Come on. Like, at least address the words you write in some semblance of rationality.
