Yeah, it is nice to see Weah starting up top with David. This is a good thing to see. Good start for him.
Everybody thought Weah was going to lose it but he went through Gerzino and fixed the cross to the onrushing David in a blink, so Le Marchand didn't have the time to arrive. It'd have been so easy for Tim to just drop and ask for the foul, too. But he kept going, fighting not to fall. I like that.
Strasbourg using the Thug Approach. Djiku throws an elbow right on Xeka's chin. PS: 3 yellows for them so far, a red is just a matter of time.
Weah's had two fouls against not called. ---- Solid half for Tim. Strasbourg has been fouling a lot, interrupting the game, and that has affected Lille's attack. On the other hand, with three players cautioned, they have to be very careful. Weah actively involved in over half of the chances. Covering the left wing but cutting to the middle often, and also moving in the left forward area.
Beautiful floated cross by Weah. Got it over the keeper and defender. Right on to the head of David. Just nods it wide. Maybe should have scored. Very strong performance by Tim.
Too many attacking players in Lille after the subs, they've lost the plot in the middle and it's 1-2 now.
Thomasson applies "the hammer" on Tiago and earns a straight red. Strasbourg with 10. ---- Weah set to play 90 with a hole in his head. ---- After David got replaced, Yazici on the right and Weah as the striker. PS: Looks like they switched back, Weah looks tired. He's finishing on the right.
Very good game for Weah. He's becoming a vital player for this depleted Lille. Now they climb to #8 on the table, and it's looking up from here. A convincing win away at Strasbourg is no small potatoes. ---- Sels ending the game in pure drama: the Strasbourg keeper went to the area to try to score a hail-Mary and got a good pass, then gets fouled and plays it hard so he gets time to go back to his net. ---- Gotta give it to them: the Alsatians died fighting, with 10. Good game.
We'll make a believer of you yet, Sooey. The man at Lille is Gilmaz, as you know, in the way that Messi was the man at Barca. Notice how both Dest and Weah got their best reviews when those two were not playing, albeit for slightly different reasons. Dest didn't have to look for Messi every play or feel that it was prohibited to enter certain designated areas reserved for Messi. As for Weah, like I've said before, he doesnt really have the skills of a winger but he can fly off the front line and he adds to that skill a really strong press on the gk/cb's. One could teach Weah to play wing but do you really wanna?
Weah starts at Salzburg. Prematch graphics showed him as a striker, paired with Yilmaz, but he's playing on the right to start things off.
Lille has been very poor. Weah has been pretty good defensively, but has done little of note in the attack. Second penalty conceded right now, Yilmaz handball on a free kick, 2-0 to Salzburg.
