I guess the coach really saw things differently against RM pulling him in the 59’ of that game then not playing him here at all
Tough to show your stuff when your only start is RM in Madrid… hopefully he seems more minutes and even another start soon and takes advantags.
I just wonder why people project some scenario when they have literally no idea what the issue is or is not.
By the time Hoppe came in against Real it was a throwaway game, they were down 4-1, completely dominated, and with half an hour left.
I never came in to this saying I did. It’s a guess, which I labeled as such. You guys get so worked up. Hope he starts next match like you too I’m sure.
The way I see it is that Hoppe is not considered a starter at all at this point, and he's seen as depth. He came to play against Real because it was a "what the heck" thing, they had already lost. But that he's on the bench tells me he's shown enough in training to be on the bubble. So if the starters keep showing nothing, he'll get his shot. Acclimatization is a thing. La Liga and the EPL take their time with new guys.
Definitely didn't expect him to be a lock starter or anything. We'll see if the striker who started has an injury or it was just a cramp. I think I heard he is on loan from Villarreal. So hopefully Hoppe will have the edge there. Number nine is a veteran but has never scored in La Liga. The competition should be good for Hoppe. Just hope gets another start soon preferably one where Mallorca can be competitive.
The difference in the Sarge and Hoppe threads are the most entertaining things out there at the moment.
Let's hope that Hoppe thread doesn't fall into the same vortex of negativity as Sargent's. Do people just need a whipping boy in their lives and choose the only (as far as I know) ginger in the USMNT pool or something?
One of us is confused, and (this time) I don't think it's me. My recollection has Hoppe starting v Real Madrid, providing an assist on Mallorca's lone goal (25'), clashing heads (40') and coming off (not in) as part of a 3-player substitution (59'), down 4-1. Somehow you seemed to have reversed the narrative.
It's still very early, but after Hoppe's great escape from Schalke, there's still every reason to be positive, and very little reason to be negative.
