His ball watching on Grealish's goal cost him? Or just rest? To say RBL needs a win is an understatement but I'm conflicted since he ain't starting. Then again don't want Marsch to get axed.
1-1 draw. the good: the team kept fighting after going down 1-0 and could have easily won it after creating tons of chances in the last 20 minutes. the bad: the team could have easily lost it with all the chances they allowed. Tyler only played the last 7 minutes. He looked a bit shaky on the ball and got pushed around a bit.
Well as if this season couldn’t get worse for YA Adam’s is out with a muscle injury. Not a good sign with him
Any news on the injury? Just precaution or something more? good for Marsch to get a big win. He needed it.
Bad game to miss for tyler. He wasn’t necessarily part of the problem but he wasn’t a big net positive out there this season.
Yep. There will be whispers if they look this good without him and he does not make a larger impact in the games he starts. He has definitely looked better for country recently than for club.
Yup. He just hasn’t developed any in progressing the ball into the final third. He obviously can’t strike a ball like Kampl can, so he has to play passes that lead to goal opportunities. He hasn’t shown that.
Not a perfect model but, on FBref Tyler Adams one of the similar players that shows up is N'Golo Kante and for Kevin Kampl one of the similar players is Jorginho. They are two completely different type of players expected to do different things.
FBRef casts a very wide net in those comparisons. Kante is the last one, and before him it's not very big names overall. Tyler's a poor man's Kante. I'd say he was practically Kante when he first moved over there. That's when he played the best. Put up massive, Kante-esque ratings in the metrics. But since the injuries there's been a noticeable drop-off. You wonder what he would have been for club and country if not for those injuries. He's still a major asset for his country. Can't say that's been true for his club anymore. At best he's been a take him or leave him at Leipzig. And he has had a rough season so far from what I've seen. I don't think that's entirely a coincidence Leipzig fared better w/out him today, though I think it has more to do with starting a great presser like Poulsen over Silva, and playing Hertha. Leipzig can go on a run here considering the schedule. Good for Jesse, but bad for Tyler.
They fared better with him today but, their second best performance of the season against Stuttgart Adams played the full 90. And they lost to Mainz and were blown away by Bayern without Adams. So I do not think there is a pattern yet. Maybe the key to their strong performance today was playing with an extra defender. But, maybe that does not work out the next time they try it.
I guess Marsch and Tyler are in a sort of XOR relationship. Either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.
Does anyone know if the injury that kept Tyler out is serious, or whether it could affect his availability for next week's qualifiers?
Don't know but he apparently didn't train today, and the USMNT roster will be announced sometime this week. We might know more tomorrow when Leipzig play Club Brugge.
Two days ago Liga Insider wrote: "aufgrund von muskulären Problemen kurzfristig nicht zur Verfügung" (due to muscular problems he won't be available for a short time) so they're making it sound as if it's nothing serious. Today they added: "at least the 22-year-old midfielder, who was out due to muscular problems the past weekend, was no longer this Monday on the injury list for the upcoming encounter in the UCL against the Belgian champions Club Brugge KV."
On the bench. About as positive a sign as I was hoping for. Good news for the international break I would think as well
