From the former Barcelona striker who has already scored against Liverpool's SENIOR side to the 'Polish Eden Hazard' gunning for Aston Villa... the stars of the future to look out for in the FA Youth Cup Final tonight. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...on-Villa-Liverpool-stars-future-look-for.html
Liverpool U18s suffered FA Youth Cup heartbreak as they were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa in Monday night's final. Villa raced into a two-goal lead within 12 minutes thanks to Ben Chrisene and Brad Young, and went on to keep the Reds at arm’s length for much of the prestigious competition’s showpiece. Mateusz Musialowski and Max Woltman had opportunities to bring Liverpool back into the tie, while the home side twice struck the woodwork. Substitute Melkamu Frauendorf set up a fascinating finale when his volley was diverted into the net by Seb Revan with 17 minutes remaining. But Villa’s opening salvo proved enough to clinch the trophy as Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s team fell at the last hurdle after an excellent run in the tournament this season.
This stunning solo effort from Musialowski is up for the U18s Goal of the Season! This stunning solo effort from Musialowski is up for the @PremierLeague U18s Goal of the Season! 👏Best of luck, Mateusz! 🔴#LFCU18s pic.twitter.com/HAVPgzdAx1— Liverpool FC (@LFC) June 2, 2021
Good name for a striker Oakley Cannonier scored a hat-trick as Liverpool under-18s continued their preparations for the season with a 3-0 friendly win over Chester City.
I saw some of the U23s were sent home to Kirkby from first team training camp to make way for the later-arriving Bobby, Ali and Fab. This was in Pep Ljinders' diary on the official site, but it didn't say which players. Still would be an epic experience to train abroad with the first team for 20 days.
Oakley Cannonier scored a hat-trick to make it five goals in two games to start the season, as the Liverpool under-18s sealed a 5-0 victory over rivals Man United. After an injury-hit season that saw him make only eight appearances for the academy last time out, Cannonier has begun the new campaign as a first-choice starter in red-hot form. A professional contract in July was followed by a productive pre-season and a brace in the 5-3 opening win over Stoke, with Marc Bridge-Wilkinson keeping him in the side for the trip to United despite the return of Mateusz Musialowski. Musialowski, who started the under-23s’ opener against Man City, played a supporting role to Liverpool‘s most famous ball boy, with Cannonier capping a five-goal thrashing of United with a hat-trick. His first goal came in the 11th minute, finding space to tap in a cross from stand-in right-back Terence Miles, with Liverpool then required to hold firm as United began to attack. It was Reds midfielder Luca Stephenson – set to step up as a key player in the academy this term – who got the next goal, though, with a volley from the edge of the box finding the back of the net through a crowd. Liverpool continued to threaten after the break, with Bridge-Wilkinson bringing on James McConnell for Harvey Blair – back in the starting lineup after a long spell out through injury – and Cannonier back on the scoresheet on the hour. The 17-year-old completed his hat-trick as great pressing work saw Melkamu Frauendorf through to square it across to Cannonier who made no mistake, before Miles capped the victory. Not only has Cannonier scored five in his first two games of the season, but the U18s have now made it 10 throughout the side, in an emphatic start to the campaign for Bridge-Wilkinson’s youngsters.
Liverpool U23s made it a memorable mini-derby with a 3-1 win over Everton at Southport on Monday night - watch the highlights now on LFCTV GO. Barry Lewtas' side produced a superb display with Sheyi Ojo, Kaide Gordon and Max Woltman all on the mark at The Pure Stadium.
Liverpool U21 side plays against Rochdale (League 2) in the group stage of the Papa Johns Trophy competition today at 7.00pm BST. The competition is for EFL sides and Premier League academy teams. Lfctv is showing the game for anyone who has a subscription.
Liverpool U19s began their 2021-22 UEFA Youth League campaign with a 1-0 victory over AC Milan on Wednesday afternoon. Max Woltman's clinical finish early in the first half was the difference in an entertaining encounter at the Kirkby Academy. Harvey Davies made sure of the three points with a terrific performance in the young Reds' goal as they'll now look to build on the victory when they travel to FC Porto later this month in Group B.
Milan were by far the better team in the second half couldn't buy a goal. Davies had a brilliant game in goal.
the Cannon keeps booming ... Oakley Cannonier continued his incredible form with a hat-trick for the Under 18s. The 17-year-old is on fire right now. Liverpool Under 18s played their opening game of the Premier League Cup on Saturday against Crystal Palace. They won the game 3-2 and have one player to thank for that – Oakley Cannonier. The 17-year-old scored a hat-trick to win the game, pushing his tally to a ridiculous nine goals in five games this season. He had a goal inside 10 minutes in this one and made it two before half-time. A third in the second half won the game and was a statement – Cannonier is one to watch. The Reds might have something very special on their hands here.
Actually they lost 4-3. Owen Beck had the other goal. Surprised to see Conor Bradley start and play 63 minutes. LIneup from the official site: Liverpool U23s: Pitaluga, Bradley (Gallacher, 63), Clayton, Koumetio, Beck, Morton, Bearne, Norris, Balagizi (Dixon-Bonner, 77), Musialowski (Corness, 85), Woltman.
the guardian's list of the top young talents at PL teams https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...0-of-the-best-talents-at-premier-league-clubs The "next" generation talent has already made an impact by becoming the fifth youngest player to appear for Liverpool when debuting in the Carabao Cup third round win at Norwich. Signed amid the turmoil at Derby in February for an initial £1.1m, rising to £3.4m with add-ons, the Derby-born winger caught the first team's eye at the start of pre-season training. "I was watching the under-23s and I saw one player who had fire in each moment that he touched the ball. He passes players like they are not there," revealed Pepijn Lijnders. "I called Jürgen immediately and said: ‘Wow! We have a new player here.'" The assistant manager added: "He is a typical Liverpool Football Club winger in my opinion because he has goals and he has speed."
last year the Guardian's LFC pick was Balagizi ... The excitement that surrounds Balagizi at Liverpool equals the frustration Manchester City feel about him. He is another layer to the animosity between the Premier League's leading sides. A tall, powerful and clever player with quick feet and an eye for goal, he moved to Manchester from the Democratic Republic of Congo as a young child and was a highly-rated prospect in City's academy before being prised away by Liverpool aged 11. He made his debut for the under-18s at 15, scoring twice, and has already featured for the under-21s. An England under-17 international, he can operate at centre forward, behind the striker and this season has been deployed on the left of a midfield three. Liverpool secured him on a first professional contract days after his 17th birthday. Andy Hunter October 2021 update Instrumental in the under-18s' run to the FA Youth Cup final last season, the highlight being a fifth-round hat-trick at Leicester. Missed pre-season training with Jürgen Klopp's squad through injury this summer but marked his return to fitness with a place in a senior matchday squad for the first time in the Carabao Cup win at Norwich. the year before, it was Stewart .... Another talent from the fertile breeding ground of Huyton and one who has made an immediate impression for Liverpool's under-18s this season. Stewart is a prolific goalscorer with an explosive burst of place and good positional awareness. He appeared for Steven Gerrard's under-18s as an under-15s schoolboy but this is his first season as a regular at that level and the goals are already flowing. Stewart marked his full debut for the under-18s with two goals against Blackburn. He has also scored two 88th-minute winners this term, against Stoke and in a dramatic 4-3 defeat of Manchester United. Andy Hunter Watch Layton Stewart in action October 2020 update Scored 16 goals for the under-18s last season before an ankle injury curtailed his involvement in January. Signed his first professional contract the following month and returned to action with a hat-trick against Stoke in the under-18s' first game of this season. October 2021 update Scored 17 goals in 18 games for the under-18s and under-23s last season before suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury. The club’s faith in the young striker was underlined by a new long-term contract that he signed in May.
Kaide Gordon has signed his first professional contract at Liverpool. The Academy prospect turned 17-years-old on Tuesday, the age at which clubs are able to legally offer such a deal. Gordon, who joined the Reds from Championship side Derby County in February for a fee that could rise to £3million, has made an instant impact since arriving at the club.
