עירוני קרית שמונה: דייגו ניקולייבסקי עשוי לחתום בקרוב Looks like we can add Diego Nicolaievsky of Club Almagro and Martin Luis Kuzniecka of Boca Juniors who was at Hapoel Kiryat Shmona for an extended trial.
It looks like Nicolaievsky recently transferred from Gimnasia La Plata to Almagro. According to Wikipedia, he had nine senior appearances for Gimnasia, who play in the first division. However, Almagro is in the third division, so quite a step down for him. Kuzniecka is in the Boca academy, nowhere near the first team, so I don't think he should be included in this list. Here is something I found from a Jewish community newspaper in Argentina: http://diariostampa.com.ar/le-mete-presion/
http://www.uslsoccer.com/news_article/show/706911?referrer_id=2333971 Former Maccabi Haifa striker, Daniel Haber, sent Vancouver Whitecaps 2 to the USL Western Conference Final. Sad that someone who nearly played European football now plays for the reserves of an MLS club.
Cvit means Flower in Croatian Dalmatian language. Several Croatian surnames with the root Cvit: Cvitanovic (footballers), Cvitesic (actress), Cvitkovic. Also, roots Cvet, Cvjet - have the same meaning Flower. His origins are from island of Brac. Some other people with the same surname: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakša_Cvitanić https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cvitani https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q16493497 (both surnames are Croatian) https://books.google.hr/books?id=aIBmjEJePAgC&pg=PA160&lpg=PA160&dq=cvitanic wikipedia&source=bl&ots=xfBcPLRuWD&sig=NkE6h0bOzwFgcsOuNlockeuzJ0o&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiOvIfl1M3PAhXrJZoKHaROCnk4FBDoAQgZMAA#v=onepage&q=cvitanic wikipedia&f=false Wikipedia is not so reliable, other sources would be much more helpful. You can check the Transfermarkt website, many players in the new world have double citizenship or both surnames. Solid starter to begin with. Kravits https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kravits https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artem_Kravets The e and i difference is just a matter of a dialect. E comes from Ekavian and I comes from Ikavian. Russians are Ekavians, Ukrainians are Ikavians.
Potentially Gonzalo Higuain. His mother is Nancy Zacarías. Her occupation is art. This surname obviously originates from Hebrew name. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zacharias_(surname) Maybe fragile theory.
I am aware of that. Sometimes surname talks louder than the person. For example, Argentine-Croatian tennis coach Daniel Orsanic has Jewish grandmother (Ivana Berger), she is from Croatia also. They got married and left in Argentina cca 1945. This is his grandfather: https://hr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Oršanić Daniel Orsanic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Orsanic Surname Orsanic is Croatian for sure. By the way, nice link you posted, simple and easy to use.
Scott Kashket - confirmed, went to Maccabiah, trialled at Maccabi Tel Aviv currently stars at Wycombe, breakout season last year, Times of Israel lists him as Jewish https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Kashket

I’ve never found anything for him. But Matt Turner is of Jewish descent on his father’s side and would qualify for Israeli citizenship.
There are a few in Australia at the moment. Jordi Swibel at Western Sydney. Zac Sapsford and Jake Girdwood-Reich in the Sydney FC youth team. Jacob Muir in the Perth Glory youth team.
How about the defender who recently signed for Ajax, Ahmetcan Kaplan? I know Turkey has a Jewish population, although not a very sizeable one. Hoşgeldin, Ahmetcan Kaplan! 🇹🇷 pic.twitter.com/oWJSmumSX0— AFC Ajax (@AFCAjax) August 19, 2022 @MHaifa1913
Yeah...no way. Community is tiny. Mostly from Spain and Portugal so typically they'd have a Latino or Hebrew last name.
From Wikipedia: The name is also very popular in Turkey, where the meaning of Kaplan is tiger. When the Turks adopted surnames after Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's surname reform, animals as surnames such as lion (Aslan) and tiger (Kaplan) were very common.
