U-21 defender David Heidenreich will spend this season on loan (from Atalanta) at SPAL in Serie B. Last season he was at Teplice and had a strong start before missing most of the season to injury.

Zima is apparently being monitored by Serie A clubs (Udinese and Torino named), though no concrete offer has been made as of yet. In his current form, I’d prefer he remain at Slavia to improve, but then again, it’s not like he’ll be bringing Kudela with him abroad, so he has to take it upon himself to mature.

It’s worth noting that Heidenreich and Zima were teammates at the U-19 level and played in defence together at the 2019 Euros. At the time, it was Heidenreich who appeared to be levels ahead of Zima, but that’s basically reversed since.

Zima is quite possibly moving abroad after all. Most signs in recent weeks pointed towards Italy.

Also, Brabec is confirmed to be leaving Plzen for Aris in Greece. If your being generous you can call this a nearly lateral move, but maybe a change will do him some good as he's been mostly awful the last few years.

I’m still somewhat surprised Slavia agreed to this deal considering their current defensive situation, but best of luck to Zima in Italy. Not in the best of form at the moment, so hopefully he can return to his earlier self and develop into an international mainstay for us.

Perhaps a change of scenery will do Brabec good, but as far as the national team is concerned, I’d move on from him all together to explore other options (Simic, Panak).

I think Slavia are panic selling a bit since the players they planned to cash in on this summer (Provod and Kolar) lost their value due to injury or aftermath.

Italian sources seem to be saying that Zima -> Torino FC is official, so expect further confirmations today.

There is late revival of the Kral - > West Ham rumor, but this time it looks like a loan with a buy option. That is probably smart by West Ham as Kral looked awful last summer. Supposedly this deal is "90% done".

It’s yet another example of how terribly run the national team is from a logistics standpoint. Libor Sionko should’ve been relieved of his duties a long time ago.

I’m guessing Kral is next to leave the team if this loan to West Ham is finalized?

I don’t understand why they can’t just return to the team for our qualifiers and then be released earlier (say next Monday) to skip the now pointless Ukraine friendly.

I'm hoping that since Kral is (likely) going on a loan the medical test and final paperwork won't require him to actually leave the team, but who knows.

Kral to West Ham is official, good move although he will be a rotation player.

He also is still with the national team near as I can tell, so I am still left a bit confused by why Zima couldn't make it back from Italy at least for the Belgium match or the friendly.

Anyway, big upgrades in league for a couple of younger national team players so not a bad window.

I think it’s safe to assume both Hlozek and Krejci II are in their last season at Sparta. I wouldn’t expect Karabec to move just yet, but if he begins to stagnate under Vrba, might as well go abroad too.

There’s also no point in Paska not naming the Premier League club that made an offer for Krejci II because we all know it’s West Ham.

Zima's gone straight into the starting 11 for Torino, interestingly he is playing on the right side of a 3 back formation when he is normally been a LCB.

Had about as good of a first half as you can without getting a goal, he's been the most secure defender and helped them play from the back. Honsetly, looks better than he has for Slavia since like March. Early days, but I am actually trying to remember the last time we had a CB hold a starting position in a top 4 league.

Torino get their first win of the season emphatically, and Zima is being rated as one of their top players. Great start.

Great to hear that Zima did well. Hopefully this early success will continue and he’ll go straight into the national team lineup by October.

Probably not since Ujfalusi and Rozehnal were in their primes. I’m not counting Michal Kadlec since he was a left back at Leverkusen.

More recently, Pokorny and Simic played in France and Italy respectively, but each for half seasons. I think Hubnik played in the Bundesliga briefly too.

A very low bar for Zima to raise here.

Also good news from Greece as Vaclik starts for Olympiacos today, so the injury he suffered in Brussels wasn’t serious.

In Germany, Pavlenka finally returned from the ongoing back injury that ruled him out of the Euros. He was only on the bench yesterday, but I have to wonder if Trmal should now be preferred instead as a backup with actual upside.

All good news, has 4 clean sheets in 5 matches this season, and it's not like he is playing for Sporting or Benfica. Definitely someone I'd like to see get a chance.

Schick appears to be finally hitting his stride at club level, continuing his unstoppable Euros form with four goals in as many league games.

Kaderabek is back for Hoffenheim, although I thought I read he’d skip all international duty this fall to focus on his health(?). Hopefully he accepts his invite in October.

Sadilek has started the past two games at left back for Twente, so perhaps he can also deputize there in the national team.

I've seen a bit of Bayer's matches this season since Bundesliga is on ESPN+ and Schick is definitely benefiting from Wirtz putting in a series of masterclass displays this year, but his goal-scoring touch is there compared to previous seasons. .

I find if odd that Sadilek keeps getting put at left back in the Netherlands when his natural position is meant to be central midfield (and that is the role he played for our youth teams). He'd really help his national team importance by just embracing the change as that is our weakest position whereas he is probably about 5th or 6th choice in middle.

Since this match Zima has not been starting as the manager wanted to ease him in through cup matches etc.... however the experienced player that he was filling in for in his debut has gone on to concede a penalty in each of the last two matches so wouldn't be surprised to see him given a chance to take the position permanently soon.

And Zima is back in the starting lineup just in time for Torino to play... Juventus. Quite a step up in competition from his first start.

Had a solid first half, but Torino are mostly on the front foot so not a lot of tests.

I guess this is the logical conclusion of the Czech takeover of West Ham... It's a bit odd that it would be Sparta's owner since all the connections have gone through Slavia.

Sparta have gotten noticeably less successful under Kretinsky's ownership as well, but can't imagine he would have as much micro-managing rights on a Premiership team.

    https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/november/10-november/west-ham-united-statement

And it's done, Sparta's owner now owns 27% of West Ham, which seems to be a de facto controlling share. Could be interesting domestically if they start loaning some youth and back up players to Sparta.

I saw some West Ham fans online using "No tak ty žehličky" as a translation for Come on You Irons, and actually chuckled.
