Tadic is not as good these days as in the CL run. Antony is a far more dangerous attacker. Who would have predicted back in 2018 that Ajax would make it to the CL semifinals? They are in a competitive group but the other teams in the group all have flaws. EtH is a good tactician and will figure out the best approach for each team.

Biggest problem is in goal! We will find out soon enough whether they are good enough.

  2. Still can't believe Overmars did let Marsman go free of charge from Feyenoord to Inter Miami. He's superior to what you now have for the goal.
I hope Overmars willnot regret it, but given how Stek "performed"in the Euros I rally hope the CD's have epic performances in the group stage.

Ajax will be wearing the Bob Marley away kits in today's match against PEC Zwolle. Klaassen is out with a groin complaint. Martinez and Tagliafico just arrived back yesterday from Argentina and didn't train. I assume they won't be playing today. Oh, and Steks is not in the team sheet.

lineup: Pasveer; Mazraoui, Timber, Blind, Rensch; Álvarez, Gravenberch; Antony, Berghuis, Tadić; Haller

Substitute keepers are Jong Ajax Setford and Raatsie:eek:

  5. PEC Zwolle has a Japanese player with the very Japanese name Sai van Wermeskerken:D

  6. I'm interested how that Redan kid is going to perform. One of the tribe of lost youth souls.
Maybe he finds his mojo back and scores a hattrick:D

I had to take my daughter to the airport and only caught the second half. What I saw did not inspire confidence ahead of the match against Sporting. Too many turnovers and lackadaisical play. I hope this is a one off but I doubt it.

Youth keepers. Setford is an England U-19 player (English dad, Dutch mom, or the other war around. Raatsie was the U-17 NT keeper. Gortner who is the 3rd keeper was injured with Jong Oranje and sent home. Don't know the extent of the injury.

Setford was born and grew up here as well, and speaks with a very clear and obvious Dutch accent. He went to school here, learned playing football here.

    http://www.football-oranje.com/england-trusted-me-more-than-holland-ajax-goalkeeper-setford/

Another 'traitor' who fancies the bigger exposure that playing for England (or USA, or Germany, or..) brings.

  11. For the first time since long I watched an Ajax match. Man, was that bad.
PEC coach should spend the whole week training shooting at the goal with his team. Ajax offered PEC more shots than against Feyenoord, but boy were those PEC players lousy at shooting. No wonder they scored zero goals up till now.
About Rensch, he was awfull. Almost all chances created by PEC originated from his side of the pitch.

Did you see the giveaway that almost led to a turnover and scoring chance??

Thats twice now in 1 week

  13. Uhm, Puck. I really would like to preserve the notion "traitor" to other instances.

  14. I guess Ten Hag will field the players he rested after coming back from national team duty against Sporting. We really need the points in direct confrontations with Portuguese teams as those count double in the coeff. run.

I'm not going to bother watching the first half on the replay so there won't be any ratings this week. Rensch is living off of his call up to the NT and needs to get his head square or he's not long for Ajax first team. At least Haller is scoring now. We will find out what this team is made of with the match against Sporting. Hope Gorter gets healthy as I'm not confident that either Passver or Steks are the solution in goal. Team won't use Onana unless he signs a contract extension.

I did like how Neres played in the second half. He was working real hard.

  16. Sint Nicolaas exists. He's disguised as Lamprou, who gifted the two goals to Haller. Fecking unbelievable for an Eredivisie goalie.

I put that word between single quotation marks.

I do think however it is morally wrong to play for someone else when the Dutch FA and society/state in general has invested so much money into you. All those football academies are sponsored by the KNVB.

He says the England FA had more faith in him, while for Oranje he wasn't a definite starter. That may well be, but it is the same Oranje that has learned him to play football.

Neres sucked too when he came on. We shouldve kept Noa Lang instead. Is there no way we can get him back from loan??

What a joke UEFA are. They won't let Ajax wear the three little birds on the neck of the away shirt as only the club logo and sponsors can appear on the shirt. I hope Bob Marley casts a spell over UEFA and this stupid rule.

I didn't think Neres was that bad. Lang is not on loan any longer. Brugge had to purchase him after the loan period expired and they did so.

  21. Can't you use those 3 birds instead of the 3 stars on the logo?

UEFA would probably not permit that. The birds are on the backside of the collar and are not all that big. I just don't understand why they are doing this. Maybe Ajax should just tell UEFA that the third shirt is sponsored by Bob Marley, may he rest in peace, and wear the shirts as designed. Force UEFA to make a bad choice and risk the wrath of at the Rastas in the world.

Klaassen is definitely out of tomorrow's game and did not travel. Stekelenburg and Gorter who were both out injured last Sunday are with the team. Berghuis should be starting in the MF against Sporting.

They would not have bought Klaassen if van de Beek stayed!:D also Kudus has been too often injured and can slot in there. When Daramy gets more used to the Ajax tactics, he can play on the left wing and Tadic moves to #10 but that's going to take several matches.
