FC Cincy doing their absolute best to be Chivas 2.0:

Parting with your GM the day after a transfer window….multiple coaches…many players in and out….big flop DPs….all in three years of existence.

    Oof.

For those of you haven't been following, the old Rochester Rhinos (of USOC fame) have been "dormant" since 2018. They were recently bought by new ownership that includes Jamie Vardy is a minority owner. Today they announced their rebrand of the club.

Can somebody with a big brain explain to me why the hell you would buy a dead club to just rebrand it into something that has absolutely nothing in common with the old one? Why wouldn't you literally just start a new club from scratch?

And after they explain that they can explain how a club in Rochester, NY is going to be a "global brand in football".

    Marketing geniuses

Same way Hoffenheim or Villarreal is trying to do it.

Perhaps the new ownership is a group of gnomes?

Kellyn Acosta played pretty well during his substitute appearance down in El Salvador. USMNT Twitter and Reddit are losing their minds over the result (half of them, anyway) but nobody is giving credit to El Salvador, who played extremely well in defense. Their attack looked feckless, though.

I was surprised FIFA is still allowing 5 player subs (not counting the new head injury sub), thought they would end with WCQ but nope. Makes me wonder if the 5 player/ 3 sub "windows" is here to stay.

Have to chime in here. Several years prior to Covid I came to the conclusion that 5 subs should be the norm. My logic is due to several factors:

    • It gives a bit of relief from fixture congestion (which seems to only be getting worse)
    • Gives players who are returning from long layoffs the chance to slowly work their way back.
    • Potentially prevents injury from overuse
    • If the match is out of hand - score wise - what's the point of not allowing more subs?

This season, the Rapids are definitely more able to take advantage of the 5 subs, perhaps more than any other MLS sides due to midfield depth and talent. When Namli is ready to get back on the pitch Fraser can be very judicious, doing so slowly. And when Kaye and Acosta geet back to CC at the end of the week they could be subs in the second half v LAG.

The Premier League has gone back to the 3 sub limit. Players on the top tier teams don't like it one bit. They are lobbying to go back to 5 subs.

You had me until you brought up the EPL. If the top clubs are for it, I’m kind of against it; European soccer has a predictability problem as it is.

I don't know about the clubs. But the players are for it, big time. Think of how many matches Chelsea :) play in a season. Just too much wear and tear on a player physically and mentally.

To me, it's a no brainer, for just about any top division league including MLS>
