I've made a few inquiries about this. It doesn't appear to be a policy issue. It seems to be a matter of understaffing on the tech side and over-involvement from the MLS lawyers on the data protection compliance side. I expect it will happen eventually.

I’d do it for free. I’d literally pay to do this. I’ve also heard it is more of a manpower issue

I mentioned that once you have the right platform, you can basically leverage team administrators to do most of the data entry work, but they still haven’t really gotten the first part settled yet.

Modular 11 is significantly better on the internal side than what gotsport had. I hope that we see roster and statistic information be released. All of the information was kept internally for Playoffs including video from each match. I really hope they can display that information publicly this time. If they hid film that’s understandable

It’s still youth soccer… meaning parents don’t have to be completely out of the loop. I find it hard to believe that there’s not a single sane and reasonable parent at a club who wouldn’t be willing to help out here or there. Part of the issue is the distance parents are kept at… missing a potential work force of people who care.

RSL just hired well-connected and well-respected Southern California fixture Jon Spencer from Orange Lutheran. Big steal of someone who can help them continue to farm the SoCal talent. Their teams looked like significant turnover and included many new faces from San Diego at each age.

I coached against him when he played at Desert Christian High School. He was a fantastic striker and really nice guy. He cares and doesn't shortcut. Great hire.

I ask this at the beginning of every season, and I'm going to ask again this season because the posters in this section are very knowledgeable and know what they are talking about.

If anyone knows of some players I should watch for in the upcoming season that aren't already big names or discussed that much, please alert me to who I should be watching for.

I know there are some posters who read this thread that don't like to post much, so you can also send me a private message if you don't want to post it in this thread.

I was given good recommendations of players to watch for last season that I didn't know much about. Some guys I didn't previously know about elevated their stock a lot. There's a lot of ground to cover and its hard to know all the good players, so I do appreciate all the help those who are attending these games every week do in helping us identify good players.

In particular if anyone has 07-09’s worth checking out these are the groups that have the least amount of available data. Let’s hope Modular 11 makes the info public soon

Anyone attend or see video of St Louis U17 match? I am curious how Aaron Heard looked after such a long time away from competitive matches.

He did not play and wasn't on the bench.
The full game will probably be uploaded in a few days on the Chicago Fire Youtube channel.

Would say Jack Mize an 08 playing with Red Bull u-15 is worth keeping an eye on a striker. Davi Alexandre jerimiah white and Nate worth are the 07’s worth watching for rbny they will be spending time training with u-17’s

Does anyone know when MLS Next plans on listing roster info for this season? Do they plan on another half season without it? It makes it so much more difficult to identify players. Do parents, coaches and players have access to the roster info for their specific team through the MLS Next portal right now? I know that’s how it was at the start of last season, and then they opened up all the info to the public.

It’s available internally on modular 11 but I've been told they plan on making at least rosters available to the public at some point this season. No idea when

If we don't get it public, we can compile it ourselves... if anyone wants to PM me a roster for a team that their kid is on... I promise to keep your affiliation confidential... Sounds interesting to me and would take all of a few minutes for me...

Any thoughts on the work RSL is doing?

Leave GK's out of it because thats a separate topic. They deserve credit for that IMO.

The more I think about it, they haven't integrated any academy players, aside from their '97 age group that everyone always talks about. How could an MLS academy produce no MLS level field players in a 6-7 year age span? If an academy did, they probably should be getting criticized significantly. They did have a bunch of guys leave to Europe (Ledezma, Soto, Booth brothers), but can that excuse completely cover for all the rest of their work?

I think the rest needs to be scrutinized. Bryce Duke (LAFC) was part of their academy, and eventually left to Barca before joining LAFC. Does anyone have a clue what the plan is with Chris Garcia? It doesn't seem like they will get anything either from the '98, '99, '00 or '01 age groups. Farnsworth could develop into a good player from their '02 age group and you can't blame them for a player suffering a serious injury that keeps him out almost the whole season, but pinning significant hopes of producing a worthwhile first team player on him seems like an indication of a problem.

The reason I bring this up is because we know they have some big time players in some of the younger age groups (Wellings, Conteh, Kei). Do we need to be rooting for these players to go elsewhere or is RSL a good club for them to sign with?

No ownership often means a lack of long term direction and decision-making.

When they get a new owner, we will have to see if they want to invest. Otherwise, they are a team that just had a coach quit to take an assistant job because he assumes he'll be fired when a new owner comes in.

It’s a pretty unprecedented move. A current head coach quitting to take an assistant job. You may see that at certain levels of college sports but in the professional game I cant think of that happening before.
