My first thread literally wondered why two threads were merged. I see a regular yanks abroad thread, and this thread, and no "other gameday thread." Perhaps I am having a server problem. I don't see the thread you are referring to that is also in the gameday forum. I do know how it works, and now I know that you're unpleasant.

Here's the link to the other gameday thread:

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/joe-scally-borussia-mochengladbach-all-games-pbp.2116853/

Why you don't see it? You've probably got Jazzy Altidore (the thread starter) on ignore. And yes, you've been a little douchey to Diablodelsol, imho. I wish everyone here would please calm down, and be a little patient with each other.

That makes sense. However, that's an actual explanation of the problem instead of haranguing me for being dumb, which is what happened here. And I think it points out a significant design flaw if posters can't see an entire thread because they have the thread starter on ignore, and the problems that creates have been made obvious here. So I get to be repeatedly insulted because I have one guy on ignore. Sweet.

Diaby makes everyone look bad, he has Davies/Haaland type speed: https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bunde...in-history-davies-haaland-hakimi-bailey-16294

But it seemed like it took Scally a while to realize how much slower he was than Diaby and not position himself to need to win a foot race? His attacking contributions weren't bad, I just remember one shot where I thought it was a waste, he was too far and had some passing options. Overall, it seemed more like Sommer had a bad day and the coach's defensive plan was a disaster, regardless of which player was in which position. Hopefully it just amounts to a good learning experience.

Sommer did have a bad day but they can't rely on him to be superman every week to stay in games.

Yeah, I don’t see him as a LB except emergency and I saw him against Bayern. You are eventually going to get found out on left flank if you predominantly defend and pass right footed.

Definitely. I have watched every BMG game for the last four years and Sommer isn't their problem. Right now I think they are adjusting to a new coach after the disaster with Rose-as-lame-duck, while being very thin at the back due to injuries combined with gambling on youth as their backups. Young defenders are... young. What I can say is that he didn't seem scared or dispirited after being skinned, which is good.

diaby also played like a guy who wants bayern to buy him. there was no answer to him anywhere with ramy not really having any luck with him either. sometimes you have to tip your cap and chalk it up to a learning experience.

Hütter in today’s press conference: Jantschke is a legend here, Scally is a very talented player, Bensebaini is healthy again. Who starts will reveal itself. There is also the possibility to play with three in the back.

Scally is starting again. Will be interesting to see if it's on the right side, as Bensebaini is also in the lineup.

Arguably at fault on first goal. Didn’t track his man in box and puts the header in.

Not sure it was his man - the left back coming all the way up? Yes, he could have seen it, but I think someone else was responsible for covering that run and was thirty yards away.

That was my first thought, but on replay he was marking Union’s #10 (closer to goal, who was otherwise unmarked). He peeled off while the ball was in the air, but he certainly shouldn’t have left #10 wide open through the center to peel off to guard the back post. Plus, the entire move started with a poor turnover by the CB.

Union score on a 2 on 4 counter after a corner. Scally was one of the 4.

Moments later BMG blow a chance on a follow after a nice save (second of the match). Could be 2-2 but instead 2-0.

I think that was Scally who created that long ball chance towards the end?

Yep. He’s been lively attacking. Sorta blending in on defense (not really getting beat but also not helping shut down the other side).

They’re clearly picking on his side in attack.

Looked as though he was backing up the man marking the ball. Two other gladbach defenders admiring his play missed the big guy in front of them making a run into space. Sorry, I'm a little biased.

Scally did a good job of slowing Awoyini on the initial break and forcing the pass to Kruse. Kramer then got abused by Kruse (I agree Scally was covering for Kramer) and Wolf was picking his nose ball-watching while Awoyini slipped in. Neuhaus was evidently admiring the WAGs in the stands as he jogged back. Not much to fault Scally for, but there will always be guilt by association for being in the vicinity (like the first goal).

Two subs at the half for Gladbach. Hermann for Wolf (who as I had pointed out was a big part of the defensive mess on the counter) and Zakaria for Kramer (who I also called out!!).
Scally with a nice gallop down the wing to start the half.
