Looks like BeIN is picking up up where they left off at the end of last season in terms of Ligue 2 coverage. They had Toulouse-Bastia live on the main channel on Saturday and right now Paris FC-Auxerre is available on Xtra. Here's hoping the Monday night game will be a permanent feature on Xtra and they'll use the Connect channels to show more games on regular match days. Losing the La Liga rights has definitely opened up slots on the schedule--all for the better for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 followers.
Catching up on some Ligue 1 from last weekend and on Xtra they had the Bordeaux-Angers match with a one-man booth consisting of...........Thomas Rongen. He's barely competent as a color guy, but he has no PxP skills whatsoever. The only thing I will say in his defense is that he didn't constantly jabber like his normal PxP partner Phil Schoen. Guessing BeIN was desperate because aside from the featured 9AM game, the others in that time slot don't have world feed commentary, just stadium sound, and since they're now showing simultaneous matches on Xtra and the main channel in that slot with La Liga gone, they had to improvise.
PSG is the only thing I will tune in for. Everything else might as well have ambient sound for all I care.
Kind of a spoiler: There is a huge brawl happening in the Nice - Marseille match. A bunch of fans even ran onto the field.
Ligue 2 coverage today: both afternoon (French time) games (Nîmes-Caen and Toulouse-Valenciennes) are on Connect 4 and 5 right now. Not seeing any of the evening games on the schedule.
Does Bein not have the african world cup qualifiers? I could have sworn they did but don’t see any reference to them?
Don't remember reading about this, but looks like CAF qualifiers are all being shown live on FIFA's YouTube channel and on FIFA.com https://www.youtube.com/user/FIFATV Cant find any info on this being geoblocked in US, but guess we will find out on Wednesday.
BeIN coming to YouTube TV. https://thestreamable.com/news/youtube-tv-adds-more-channels-to-sports-plus-add-on
I know this is old news now, but the CAF World Cup Qualifiers have all been on ESPN+. All of them. Hope people have had the chance to watch.
Looks like BeIN didn't end up with the rights to the Coupe de France - they had today's Strasbourg match scheduled and I set it to DVR but Best Bets was on instead and now I don't see any matches for the weekend on my cable IPG although I still see them listed on Sling.
Coupe de France matches are still listed on Bein's own website schedules https://connect.beinsports.com/us/channels
The level of Qatar sucking off on Bein lately between the constant PSG praise, to all these world cup preview/Qatar travel shows is funny. I get it...but it's funny. Genuinely curious if Bein sticks around in the US post world cup, or if it disappears once the need for Qatar promotion (through soccer) no longer exists.
I signed up for Sling World to watch Africa Cup of Nations. I cancelled my last sub in April 2020 after COVID started and BeIN was 24 hours Realcelona and PSG. Sling changed their design and the new design seems to be a disaster. In the past it was very easy to find BeIN on demand content and that content lasted for 36 hours if I remember correctly. Now it seems like I can click on BeIN ENG, for example, and scroll over but the on demand content for Africa Cup of Nations is mostly stuff in my cloud DVR. Is there another way to find on demand content? I am hoping that Algeria-Equatorial Guinea might still be available since I accidentally set the Connect 8 version in my DVR and that is Arabic. When I use search, the search only pulls up my cloud DVR for this match. Thanks in advance for any tips.
Kind of hard to believe that BeIN is giving priority this weekend to French Cup matches and relegating live coverage of the AFCON quarterfinals to Connect. Not a big deal for me since I'll DVR them off Sling but it'll be interesting to see what BeIN does with a tape-delayed AFCON QF set for a 2-hr window which goes into extra time and/or penalties. It probably won't be pretty.
I saw that too If they weren't going to show them on BEIN could they not put them on their OTA Xtra channels?
This happened last weekend too. Without spoiling anything there was at least 1 match that went to extra time and Bein just clipped the shit out of it to make it fit the 2 hour replay window. Also they do air live on xtra but not everyone has that or can probably find it. I have it but figured the replay slot on “traditional” bein would be sufficient. Should have known better.
As Corolla said, it will be on Xtra. If Xtra is not on air in your area, it is on the Roku channel and KlowdTV (which I think runs on a Fire Stick) What's quite annoying is that they are cutting to commercials during the matches on Xtra! So I guess by the end of the match you are probably 3-4 minutes behind the live action. They are airing the matches on Xtra and Xtra Espanol, but the commercial breaks for the Burkina Faso v. Gabon match last week were at different times. So when Xtra went to commercial, I switched to Xtra Espanol and then switched back when Espanol went to commercial. Do they do this during the Turkish Lig & Ligue 1 matches?
