I'm figuring it was general de-spleening and not quote specific, but who knows... Lol.

And for the record, my concern with his confidence/arrogance was mostly just how it affects him integrating into the team. Being a brash young pup with little on your resume can backfire if you don't have the charm and chops to back it up - but it appears from my vantage Dest does - and, as I mentioned, his teammates seem to have accepted him quite easily.

Yes, it was a riff on your idea, but not aimed at you, You have an obviously reasonable take on the subject, which I thought was inferred but probably miscommunicated.

I figured it was not entirely off my comment, which I thought was pretty reasonable- especially for me!

I still wish Dest had changed to Dortmund during the summer. He would be just like Akimi in that situation and look what it did for him. Very similar styles. I just dont think that Dest chose what was best for him to stay in Barca. While he is playing, I dont think he will impact nearly as much there.

He's starting for Barcelona. Once they get healthy they'll be one of the top two or three teams in Spain. Why would he want to leave?

Yes, and they’re transitioning from the Messi era, which will be a challenge of its own for club management and the team.

Emerson starting at RWB today in place of Dest. Hopefully just some squad rotation ahead of the International break.

It seems like a lot of our guys either had very short shifts or didn't start this weekend and I'm very happy about it.

Nothing similar. In fact they could hardly be more dissimilar. Akimi is lightening fast and uses his speed in a vertical fashion. Dest is quick and small and a good dribbler. Their similarities are mainly species, gender and occupation!

Dest is apparently getting some quite bad reviews at Barca lately, say my Catalan friends

Good thing his self-belief is unshakable.

Dest in for the past 10 minutes or so. In my completely unbiased opinion, a clear upgrade over Emerson. Best move so far was to beat his man to the endline and ply a nice ball across goal (didn’t find anyone). Confident in possession as well and has done a good job tracking runners the couple of times called upon.

Barcelona 2-1 Getafe - going into the break on a positive note.
Still very bunched at the top, with five teams on seven points; Atletico Madrid can push to nine later today.
Dest subbed in today at 63' and helped hold the lead.
Should have fresh legs for the WCQ break, starting Thursday.
    Thank you, Mr Koeman!

Note also: the first game after the international break is Barcelona v Bayern Munich, Matchday 1 of Champions League Group E, on Tuesday, September 14.

Then it's back to La Liga on Sunday, September 19, v Granada.

Dest had a good game coming on as a sub, beat his man regularly & caused problems for the defense with his speed & fresh legs.

Dest beat a man on the right side edge of the penalty box with a quick dribble to the end line & fired a world class cross to a unmarked Depay who skyed the shot over the cross bar. should have been 3-1 Barca.

Yeah... Dest had a couple of good crosses. Bummer Depuy didn't put that away. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this game for Dest was that he moved up to take Griezmann's spot late in the game... and immediately made that great turn and cross. Koeman was so bummed when it didn't go in. I wonder if we will see a bit more of Dest up front as the year progresses? Royal is a liability on D on the right but Mingueza is back now and the fans are hating on Griezmann. A couple of things are pretty clear to me WRT to Barca this season... they rely so heavily on Alba in the attack... if he goes out for any period of time they could go on a losing streak. Two... even with him in there... the whole team needs to step up. I like what I have seen from Dest so far this season. Depuy looks like a good target man... but a La Liga title looks like a tough ask.

Read Emerson was partially at fault for the other team’s goal with his tackle giving the ball to another opposing player.

Can only be good for Dest.

I'd say there is a growing gap between Emerson & Dest in play, Dest is 3 years younger & looks better with every match.

Getting Ansu Fati back & having a rested Pedri will go a long way toward fixing what is wrong with Barca currently. This is still a team which should make the Champions league 1/8 finals & challenge for la liga.

Looks like the coach’s benching of Dest worked as planned!

Spurs apparently want Emerson. I'm not sure Barcelona can afford not to sell if the bid is reasonable.
