late to the party. Just watched the replay. Wow. This kid's very, very impressive! If he can stay consistent, why would he not play? He'll get many chances, I think. He has "it".
I wouldn't necessarily mind that, I was just rebutting someone who said he could only see Scally getting 10-minute cameos in the 3-game window.
Joe's resume is still a little light but he was pretty impressive in this game. If he can keep it up until the international break, he has to be given serious consideration for a start in the WCQers.
I was looking for a YouTube of Scally's game, but there doesn't seem to be one yet. However, here's one of the match from July 28 (I think) vs Bayern. To my eye he looked better than any outside back we've had in eons. Trying not to gush too much, but it's hard not to. Even without the assist. (Sequence starts around 3:50.)
All-touch video from the Bundesliga opener for BMG and BM: Thanks @ffanalyst for putting this together — great work!
Thank you! I particularly enjoy doing these when one of our young guns ball out, and Scally did just that. The kid is the real deal.
For some reason, the pbp thread I started last week was merged into the regular Scally thread? Why? In any case, Scally starts again at LB against Gladbach. Unfortunately, they trail 1-0 early after a not-that-great shot bounces off the post, then off of Sommer, and in for a goal. Really no Scally content on the play.
And that is 2-0. Absolutely poor start from Gladbach. Scally gets beaten by Diaby in the run up in the goal.
2-0 now. Ugh. Scally beaten down the wing at midfield and it helps lead to a great Schick shot that Sommer gets a hand to, but it goes into the top corner.
Scally gets blown past on the wing by Diaby, who plays the ball in for an assist. Scally definitely at fault.
I imagine it was merged into the pbp thread that was created at the beginning of the season. You know....the thread right above or below this one.
