It continues. The tv banners under the scoreboard and game clock showed the Rapids bringing in Namli for Kaye lol. Namli isn’t even with the team, and Kaye is still on the field

Barrios finishes the first half of the season with 5G, 4A. If he matches that in the second half that would be a combined 18 G+A. The last time a Rapid did that was Casey's 13G, 6A in 2010.

You want to know why we're not getting big offers for Cole...?

This reminds me of the 2011 season when Omar Cummings went on trial in England and had some offers in Mexico. It seemed to get to his head and disrupt his playing for the first part of the season.

Holy hell that was pretty. I know we've had some great pickups in the last 2-3 years but Galvan has been sneaky good.

Wow, Houston commentators marveling at our depth, being able to bring the likes of Galvan, Lewis, Badji, and Mezquida off the bench. I'm not used to this as a Rapids fan...

9 wins from 17 matches and only 4 losses in the first half of the season! We really are a good team this year.

With tonight's results, Minnesota in 5th place is actually closer in PPG to Dallas in 10th than to us in 4th.

Also the Bodmer Line is down to 0.765 pts/game.

Good 3 points on the road, but not without a few scares. Yarbrough was MOTM. I actually thoughr Shinyashiki had a low key good game. Unlucky for Basset not to get a goal after hitting the post twice.

Just a solid win. No one saw a 3-1 win. But that was well deserved.

Unsung player of the game may have been Wilson. Just solid play. Lalas takes chances, but it’s nice to have a stay at home CB next to him. Also thought Price played well.

Bad news, with that yellow card Rubio is now one yellow from suspension

Good news, with his 5th game in a row with no card Price now moves back to two yellows (instead of one) from suspension

I think Bassett is suffering from the strikers curse. It seems every striker gets the bug from time to time and it certainly has hit Bassett.

He hit the post twice tonight, scuffed one waaaay wide, and took one straight into the defender.

He’s continually getting into good spaces, making the right runs, making the right passes. But he’s just not finding the net. At this point the mental pressure is harder than actually hitting the ball - as with any striker you start to second guess yourself before the shot until it hits the net. Once it does, strikers usually go on a scoring tear

I find it quite odd that the strikers curse is hitting our young midfielder but here we are lol. He’ll break through it soon enough I’m sure. In the meantime he needs to keep being dangerous

So Barrios with an assist and a goal? :sneaky:

Didn't see the 4-3-3 coming. The first 25 minutes er so the it looked like the Rapids were playing at home. They were in control and confident.

Eventually Houston got themselves back into the match and the Rapids were having to do a lot of defending. The Rapids were literally seconds away from going into the half with a 1-0 lead when Barrios committed the foul in the box.

At our house, we figured Yarbrough was the man of the match. His saves kept the Rapids in touch and it was then just a matter of time for the Rapids to finish some chances.

What is it with Galván and his left foot? Both his goals have come from a veery similar spot on the right side of the box by getting the ball onto his left foot for a shot.

Final note for now, all three of my soccer teams teams (Chelsea, Rapids and CU) won today!

I happened to watch the individual goal highlights rather than full game (though none for Barrios' goal). The close captioning, or subtitles on Lalas's goal were great: He should now be forever known as "A Google Car" !! A Google Car.jpg

It's funny, I checked the stats this morning and couldn't believe it. They show that Houston dominated the stats. However, other than a period after the half, I remember the Pids being in the driver's seat. To me, that was a complete game by the boys. Houston had some good shots but their only goal was off a very soft PK (maybe Barrios sneezed on him too)?

I wasn't able to watch, so the stats did tell a very different story, as Stuart pointed out. Why 17 minutes of extra time???

The mark of a good team is not playing your best but still coming away with a convincing win. Despite the stats being shaded towards Houston, I never once felt the game would tilt in their balance. The depth is going to carry this team far. It’s luxury few MLS teams have. The depth is starting to get some recognition and while I appreciate that, I kinda sorta which that depth would fly under the radar. I like underdog. Oh…. As for Bassett’s woes. He does need to bury those chances and he’s unlucky not to do so. You can teach finishing but what you cannot teach - to a certain extent - are those runs and spots he finds himself in. His runs from deep and his ability to see space are incredible. That’s what has scouts interested. I may be the only one that sees this but his runs remind me a poor mans Lampard. Lampard had to work and work on his finishing early in his career.

I couldn’t agree more. A lot of what Bassett does isn’t always going to appear on the stat sheet:

He’s pulling defenders towards him with his runs.

He’s filling gaps that block release passing lanes.

He’s got a great soccer IQ

His defensive work rate and amount of yardage he covers is stellar

If he buries the chances that he’s made for himself so far, then he’s at 9 goals on the season already - and probably on a 5 game scoring streak. His goals will come with time. He’s doing most everything else really well, and consistently

In the first half there was a PK called literally at the end of stoppage time, so stoppage time was extended for the PK and ensuing kickoff. The second half had a VAR review for another PK call (waved off), which added to stoppage time. That also included injury treatment for the player that went down.
