It feels like I've been waiting for Anjorin to explode for a while but obviously things have been stop-start for him.

Does he go on loan or stay with the Chelsea group?

There could be the argument that he needs to be looked after well physically & that would be a vital discussion point with a potential loan club.

Palmer and Edozie both start for City in the Charity Shield.

It’s a shame McAtee isn’t involved though which I’m kind of surprised at since he’s been playing very well in the preseason games but maybe suggests he’s going to go out on loan.

Livramento apparently made a great impression as soon as he came on for his debut for Southampton today. Feels like we are going to have some really good options for that right back squad places this season yet again with Aarons, Lamptey and Livramento. Right backs and England is getting ridiculous!

Probably fair to say that Edozie is not quite ready for this level.

He did better in the second half as did Palmer. It's always easier when the pressing isn't as intense. I doubt that we'll see much of them in City's first team this year anyway, save for a couple of cup games against lower league opposition.

With so many 2001 & 2002 options that are going to miss out on U21 selection it’s going to be interesting to see what schedule we have.

So many dual nationals on the outside of U21 selection and too old for competitive U19 games. Cirkin, Livramento, Azeez, Anderson, Mighten, Anjorin, Balogun, Carvalho.

This is where the talent ID team, ( if it still exists but I’m guessing there is still a similar set up within the FA ) need to earn their money and try and identify the talents with the highest ceilings who are most likely to make it to the senior team. I know it’s still difficult to predict as players can be late developers and some talents might just fall off a cliff but you don’t want to see players taking up U21 spots just to make up the numbers and potentially lose out on more talented players, especially if they are Dual qualified. Such a delicate situation which you have to appreciate isn’t easy at all.

I doubt that is going to be an issue. Not at this early stage anyway. I can’t think of options that will be making up the numbers but I guess that depends on selection policy and how squads are picked further down the line.

Most of the 2002 options aren’t ready yet and they really need a strong U20 fixture schedule for this season.

I kind of feel like Livramento and Azeez might not be on the outside for long.

But the question is, will they be retiring his shirt when he moves on? ;)

I wonder if we will see him much this coming season other than Cup games? I can’t help but think if the Premier League Clubs had voted for 5 subs instead of 3 then we would see more appearances for the likes of Elliot and other youngsters. I kind of wish they could be creative and do the 3 subs plus 1 if under 21 or something to help Clubs with development.

Klopp has been talking him up and as a midfielder. You never know how much is hot air though.

Liverpool have been doing pairs of friendlies with a 1st and 2nd XI playing in each. Elliott has consistently been starting as an 8 for the 1st XI games. However Henderson and Fabinho were late back from internationals and Thiago has had a slight injury so all have barely featured.

I think Elliott may well start the first game but minutes will quickly become harder to come by.

Klopp said a couple of years ago he wanted to build a team full of scousers .... The team currently has 2. Wouldnt take what he says seriously.

Also, just on young Jobe, does anyone know how good he is or how highly rated he is? I’ve just had a look on YouTube to see if I can find any footage and wasn’t successful so was just curious if anyone had any insight as what we can expect?

Hopefully this is true otherwise it would be really disappointing to have lost him, though I can understand why he'd want to make the move.

Trevoh Chalobah, who should have gone to the U21 EUROs, starting in a back three for Chelsea in the Super Cup tonight. Apparently still set to be shipped out on loan though.

Anjorin not in the Chelsea Squad tonight. Surely he must be going out on loan or it will be another wasted season playing U23 football for him.
