Steng is also reportedly flying to Nice for a personal term negotiation (though both clubs haven't agreed on a fee). Another premature bad exodus for Dutch talent. More or less same situation with Boadu.

Can't help to feel sorry for AZ - they will have to rebuild fast and furious!! Koopmeiners is already in the transfer rumor mill for quite some time now (heading to Italy?)

Loss of match day revenue last year hurt all the Dutch teams.

Stengs to Nice a done deal!

Hope he rocks there, and can stay relevant to the Dutch NT.

LOL!!! Looks like Justinho is also heading to the club that has no future where he can partner on the front line with Stengs and Dolberg.

Looks like Nice’s attacking option is quite limited, there’s Dolberg and an Algerian/French u21 player (Gouiri). Both are more of a central-forward.

So presumably Stengs should be able to get playing times right away. Same with J. Kluivert if he indeed moves there.

Best case scenario is that Stengs gets a starter minutes, and even he initially underperforms (could be tough adjusting in new place!), he will be allowed some patience and he won’t get lost in the shuffle. Lack of European football is not ideal - but I think/hope this is only a stepping stone. Worked well for Wijnaldum went to Newcastle, or Virgil went to Celtics before headed to the big boys teams.

Kluivert joining Stengs is confirmed! Dutch attacking combo at OGC Nice… hope this will work out!

Why has this team no future? They have at least the winning manager of last season.

It is very hard for them to break into the top three in France (PSG, Lyon, Marseilles) and there are other clubs that are better (Lille, Rennes, Monaco). I don't rate them much more than a mid-table club in a league that is not much better than the Eredivisie. Most of the clubs other than PSG are in financial difficulty. Dutch players should aspire to better clubs.

However, living on the French Rivera is a definite plus!

Time for them both to get it together and perform. Stengs badly in need of greater energy and workrate.
Kluivert foolishly left Ajax too soon. It’s now or never for them.

I think both Stengs and Kluivert are banking on the fact that the level of competition will raise their games.... ultimately. They will be up against the likes of Marquinhos, Hakimi, Kimpembe, Diallo, Botman, etc. - that's a pretty big quality leap vs. those in Eredivisie for example. But of course, this is predicated the fact they will get regular playing times. But yeah, agree that the club (OGC Nice) won't be anywhere close to the big dogs.

Dutch players who aspire to better clubs... err, they better hit the ground and running, otherwise they run at risk of getting canned if they don't perform right away. "Better" clubs are often rich - they don't have much patience, and have resources to get replacements fast. See Memphis (at M.U), Van De Beek, Bergwijn, Vincent Janssen, Klaassen, and yes... even Kluivert himself (at Roma & Leipzig).

@BaritoPutra - they would be better off moving to Germany where there is better quality throughout the table. I don't know how Lille will turn out after they finish selling players. The fact remains that other than PSG, most of the French teams are average and the quality of the football tactics is poor. I don't know whether they will develop or not.

    Pressure on Brobbey now! :x3::p

It is quite ironic that Kluivert indeed had the opportunity in Germany, but just never materialized. Well, save that "ideal" transfer for the better Dutch prospect, i.e. Malen. His going to Dortmund would be a very welcomed news.

Other young strikers who will need a new home summer to stay relevant... Boadu, Danjuma, Bergwijn, Dilrosun.

Dilrosun imo is ok . if not for injuries, he has been in the thick of things, both starting and off the bench for Hertha. its Redan who should look for new club or at least go out on loan given his situation on the bench, his last two season has only yielded 8 appearance of the bench accumulating to 115mins. he is still 20 and and a club where he can play regularly could help him get back on track.

for Danjuma, Bournemouth had a concrete bid from Villarreal in the region of 13-14 million but they rejected it. They have put a staggering 35million pounds for his transfer which could complicate things. I hope he doesn't get stranded at the club and looks like they will play hard ball given what they are asking.

for kluivert, I disagree that it was a bad move by him to leave Ajax. if I recall correctly then ajax were in the running to sign Tadic when he decided to depart. eventually he would have succumbed to bench given Tadic's experience and strong hold he has accomplished. I think its fair to say when this contingent hit that 26-29 mark, that's when they will start making that Impact in NT. in the mean time they just need to be playing regularly at competitive level and if El or CL is on offer, its a added bonus and this is where I feel Kluivert has made a lot of grounds compared to others players in his age group.

for Bergwijn, just remains me of Lens, plain and just speed. given the likes of Stengs, Ihattaren and Lang who are coming up, it may well come down to who thriving better at their respective clubs. lang particularly who is knocking hard on NT door.

if Van Gaal and Co continue with the same old of selecting criteria on club merit or what players did 2 years back (NT cap), then the cycle is set to continue.

OGC Nice is hoarding Dutch players… bought Pablo Rosario from PSV.

Pretty smart dealings by PSV. Brought two established midfielders on free transfers (Propper and Can Ginkel), and sold one on a decent fee.

And they will cash in on Malen, too. (supposedly it’s done deal as Malen is already training at BVB facility, just waiting for an announcement).

Dumfries, next? Haven’t heard any recent activities.

Malen transfer confirmed today!! Big signing, not only for him and the club, but also for Oranje NT.

With De Ligt and Frenkie de Jong are getting established in the international stage, the Oranje NT needs a handful more key players (within the same generation, under 25 years) to take their careers to the next level. Malen and Gravenberch are high on my “next up” list. Dumfries, Stengs, and Koopmeiners to a lesser extent.

xavi simons has had a good pre season for PSG. Im sure he has caught the eye of Pocettinho and just have to see how this season turns out for him this season.

in my projection for NT winning in 2024 and 2026, he is an important piece. he has the creativity and the cutting edge that is missing in the current NT and with Wijnaldum. also with Koeman moulding Frenkie on the right at Barce, smions, gravenberch and Frenkie could a solid combo.

I also think Anwar El ghazi should be looked at, not just to make numbers but seriously get the nod. he is entering his prime and he has proved himself at epl level. villa has further strengthened their squad this season with signing of Emi Buendía, Ashely Young and returning injured striker Wesley. they will be good team.

Roma also has shown interest to sign him, could be sold as well.

I still dont get how berghuis has being getting the nod all this time when with bigs team, he is no show. Even dilrosun is a upgrade of him and if it will take players to return to eredivisie (Ajax, PSV, Feyenoord) to get the nod in NT, the drought is set to continue

Boadu to Monaco. I really think he should stay in Eredivisie. He was erratic last season… could use a season or two to sharpen.

It’s not totally unexpected the exodus of AZ players… it’s weird though that the most ready player to move abroad (Koopmeiners) is still with the club while others have jump shipped.

IMO Koopmeiners is a half step to slow to play at the highest level. Agree Noadu is leaning too early

I don't disagree with this, although I guess it depends what "highest level" definition is. My guess is that we won't see Koopmeiners at the PSG, Manchester 2x, Juventus, Bayern Munich of the world... but I think he should be good enough for some top or upper-mid clubs in the big league.

Some of the analysis I've read were comparing him to Nemanja Matic. I don't really follow Matic, so I don't have much opinion. My recollection from the little I've watched is that Matic is physical and rugged. I think Koopmeiners is more similar in mold to Strooman (without the injury history) or Daley Blind (as a DM). Not the fastest or strongest midfielder... but is extremely composed and smart player. And brings a lot of gusto the midfield. Solid set-piece taker, too, although I wish he registered more goals with long-distance canons.

are you serious, definitely an upgrade to Blind especially in the set piece department. thats his main strength. no where near to injury free and prime strootman.
