What will BeIN have as far as live soccer this summer?

They have the 2nd leg of the Segunda promotion to La Liga next Sunday at 3pm.

Otherwise, the French Ligue 1 season starts August 7.

(I expect a friendly or two to be added late July...especially if PSG is involved)

They gotta get at least one more league to replace La Liga. You cannot fully replace it but you can't rely just on French league

There was rumors they wanted to try and get the Portuegese League rights. Don't know if that's possible with GolTV in the picture

I neglected to include Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana matches, which will return on July 13, right after conclusion of Copa America.

    This coming
season is the last in a five-year global deal beIN has with the Super Lig, and problems have arisen that may cause beIN to walk away from carrying the league. Fenerbahce has continously made claims that beIN has an agenda against them, the latest accusing the broadcaster has added prerecorded supporter chants to the audio of the closed-door matches that are offensive to the club. beIN might very well decide that campaigns by the club against beIN might not be worth the trouble of continuing to broadcast their matches,

The NY Times had an article on this earlier this spring (beyond a paywall):
    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/10/sports/soccer/fenerbahce-bein-sports-turkey.html
but a Saudi-based English language paper article is available:

Hmmm, with Paramount+ nabbing up niche soccer properties, I think Bein better watch out.

Ligue 1 would be perfect for Viacom. The Copas would be good too, but how much would they want exclusive Spanish coverage as well?

Nasser bin Ghanim Al-Khelaifi, the chairman of beIN Media Group, is also the President of Paris Saint-
Germain, so I don't see them "stealing" Ligue 1 rights from beIN. Of course, if the price is right deals can be made, but I expect that the price would be much more than Viacom is willing to pay.

Does anyone remember Dr. Evil's "Why won't you die" quote?

Does anyone else feel the same way with BeIN at this point? It seems like they got dropped by more than a few providers, they seem to have very little soccer at this point, so yeah.

BeIN and Fox Soccer Plus both could drop off the face of the earth tomorrow and I wouldn't notice.

I have a little more sympathy for beIN. I don't like the fact that providers get to choose who survives in the world of broadcasting. beIN fumbled their launch to a certain extent and their handling of the CONNECT service left a lot to be desired. But the truth is, beIN got f*ucked over by providers. They were not given a chance and I took that as a personal attack on soccer rather than anything to do with beIN being from the Middle East. Providers have done the same to GOL-TV, World Sport and even going back to Setanta.

We are very fortunate to live in an era of streaming because the way the tv "system" is set up, only the big boys (ESPN, NBC, CBS, etc.) are welcomed to the party by the other big boys (providers like Warner, Comcast, etc.). The big boys were going to always win and without streaming, you would get 2-3 matches per round on TV. The smaller guys (like beIN) always strived to show more matches. Thankfully, streaming services provide us with all matches and coverage would not be so extensive without it...

The only reason for me to watch BeIN is the South American cups

I did not realize that the CAF Champions Cup and Confederation Cup semifinals (abd finals) are conrinuing rigt now and beIN and beINSportsXtra will be showing these matches.

Sat, June 19 (1st leg semis - Champions Cup)
    12p Esperance Sportivo v Al-Ahly
3p Wydad Casablanca v Kaizer Chiefs

Sun, June 20 (1st leg semis - Confederation Cup)
12p Coton Sport FC v JS Kabylie
3p Pyramids FC v Raja Casablanca

These games are all live on beINSportsXtra; and shown on delay on beIN at 11p and 1am each day7

Next weekend, beIN will have two of the second leg matches live....and the other two on Xtra (and on delay on beIN)

Just a post to complain that there are a bunch of Copa Lib/Sudamericana matches and they appear to be showing them mostly on Connect. Why not put something on Xtra/Xtra Esp?

Of course you can never figure out what is on Xtra Espanol since they don't publish a schedule.

The CAF Champions Cup final is on Saturday, 17 Jul at 3pm est. According to the beIn website, they are showing old Ligue 1 matches across all platforms at that time. The Final does show up at 11pm on BeIn.

I can't believe they aren't going to play it live.

Does anyone know if they actually aired the CAF Confederations Cup match last weekend?

That makes no sense not putting a major final on live on any of their channels. I only watch Bein for Libertadores and Sudamericana. Once they loose that I’ll never watch.

Getting kinda late in the game....BEIN must be going all in on French Soccer as I haven't seen any major acquisitions for them

Don't think there's anything "major" out there to acquire, unless your definition of major includes the usual second & third-tier Euro leagues that seem to go year-to-year on different carriers

    off the purple line
BeIN could look at the Russian league (don't know who has those rights), they could approach ESPN about licensing some English League One and League Two games since there are big teams that have dropped to those levels and ESPN+ doesn't stream many of those games, and they could approach RCN about something with Colombia. I think RCN owns WIN. RCN international shows some games each weekend (maybe half) but there are a lot that are not shown outside Colombia. But I say all of this and I'm not a BeIN subscriber anymore. It was cheaper for me to find other options to get Libertadores/Sudamericana games than deal with Fanatiz's horrible streams and Sling's inability to get good streams for Connect channels. Yet, IPTV streams all looked great.

ESPN shows all the EFL games made available for international distribution as part of their rights package. The rest are available on ifollow (or club website) either as a season pass for that team or by buying the individual match.

I just noticed they are playing Ligue 2 match today on Xtra, AJ Auxerre vs. Grenoble Foot at 2:45est.

I appreciate the expansion, but is it too much to ask them to publish the schedule of XtraEspanol?

Also, it is crazy they don't have the XtraEspanol in Chicago. Although, they apparently use dodgy encoding on the Xtra ota channel here in Chicago that makes it pixelated. If I am watching a match live, I always go the Roku channel. But sometimes I can't make the live game and the ota DVR is almost unwatchable.
