I think the Yankees reneged on this because they fear their fans may decide not to attend if parking is not guaranteed. I get their logic, but there is a solution that isn't "I'm taking my ball to Queens".

I don't think its that clear. The Yankees and NYCFC are not one entity here.

Maybe they are looking for an oil money payout. I could see them stalling this since it doesn’t really benefit them in the short term. Maybe the Yankees want to be bought out.

Very possible. CFG absolutely wants this project to advance. The Yankees, the picture is a bit clouded.

The dispute is over 317 parking spaces. The stadium plan allocated 5,183 spaces, the Yankees want 5,500.

Why would the Yankees not want the project to move forward? It appears they no longer like that NYCFC plays in Yankee Stadium. Getting them out, while creating another venue that will bring the organization money (seeing as they are minority owners of NYCFC) should be something the Yankees want.

I recall reading that the Yankees were earning equity in NYCFC for every game hosted at Yankees stadium. Others more knowledgeable about this please chime in if thats not right.

Speaking of NYCFC, Google Maps' latest satellite imagery of Yankee Stadium has the soccer lines. Using the built-in distance measurement comes right to 70x110 as advertised. Not the 68' some have claimed by eyeballing it.

Looked small as hell on Friday night.

Doesn’t look like a professional pitch.

West Ham and Spurs played on a pitch that size for decades and both were known for free flowing, passing football, in an era where the fans became decisively negative. West Ham under Ron Greenwood was nicknamed "the academy".

The funny thing is, it should be easier to defend on a smaller field.

If you are used to playing on it.

Crew plays with a speed merchant on the wing in Diaz that is negated by a small pitch.

They should be playing in Red Bull Arena until they can find a suitable stadium of their own.

Why? The pitch at Yankee Stadium is regulation and they've been getting less than 3,000 in attendance at Red Bull Arena.

If I were a City fan, I'd be more bummed out that due to the unusual ground-share with the Yankees, my soccer team only got to play 8 out of 17 games on my 'home' field. Good luck on the team's quest to secure a real home of their own.

Interestingly, NYCFC has been a comparatively better team on the road than at home in Yankee Stadium over the years. By that, I mean they have performed higher above league average on the road than they have been above league average at home.

Two teams take the field every match at Yankee Stadium. The same field.

This doesn't surprise me. They've put some quality teams together once they moved past the emphasis on Lampard/Pirlo types. They generally try to play an elegant game with talented players. I could see their home field working against that. But...

    Oh please.

And the same fans don't tune in because they can't stand to watch games played at Yankee Stadium.

It's only recently that wide pitches became a thing in the top 5 leagues. The Premier League standardized pitch sizes in 2012.

West Ham played on the same size pitch as NYC from 1904 to 2016.
