MLS is going to be a more appealing league for players in the future simply on the basic premise players can be reliably paid. You don’t get that luxury in turkey, Ukraine. Russia, even some more established European leagues. That’s kinda wild to think about.
That's already why MLS has been so effective in raiding Argentina. That plus there's a safety/quality of life component for those who don't love the celebrity lifestyle.
Matthew Hoppe Transfer News: USMNT Prospect Set to Leave Schalke in Coming Weeks Apologies if this had already been posted. I hadn't seen anything this definitive. I didn't realize this was from over two weeks ago. I was hoping this was new news, but good if there was that broad of interest back then. His recent play should really push this over the top.
Internet rumor that Josh Sargent is on his way to Norwich. Take it for what its worth. So Josh Sargent is going to Norwich afterall?....🤨 https://t.co/dLNbvnyQba— USMNT Universe (@UsmntU) July 30, 2021
Also, this one is official. Loan opportunity for Kayo. A reminder that Wolfsburg has done away with their reserve team (a trend in Germany). So these loans are the norm for players in between U19 and the first team. Bryang Kayo will join 3.Liga club FC Viktoria 1889 on loan. https://t.co/5Erj8sjKPG— USMNT Universe (@UsmntU) July 30, 2021
Joyce was like that one are always tough for me. If you told me that one of our defenders/keepers was going from a projected top-of-the-table 2. Bundesliga side to a bottom of the table Premier League side, I’d say it was a good thing. Maybe even for an 8. But for a striker, especially with Sargent’s history, I have mixed feelings. He’s spent the past couple years with a subpar Bundesliga team where he hardly got any service. Now (if true) he’s going to a projected-near-the-bottom Norwich side who will likely be bunkered in a lot and playing with their #9 in or near their own half. I know that—all things being equal—we’d want our guys in a great squad. But for a striker who has been struggling to score I’m not sure that playing for a high-level 2. Bundesliga side wouldn’t be the better option. I worry he’s not gonna have a ton of chances to score for Norwich (even if he starts), not even necessarily because he isn’t good but because the team isn’t.
Rumors now of a Bundesliga club in the action for Carter-Vickers. Celtic was just bounced from the Champions League, so you wonder if that impacts the likelihood of him going there. I'm not sure there's a more over-rated club in Europe than Celtic, but that's a topic for another day. Source: Cameron Carter-Vickers is also garnering some interest from a few unnamed #Bundesliga clubs along with Celtic and Newcastle United. No official agreement yet between Spurs and any club, but talks continue. CCV played 90 midweek in friendly win. #USMNT— Larry Henry Jr (@lhenry019) July 30, 2021
Celtic has signed Carl Starfelt. Newcastle is reportedly likely to sign Axel Tuanzebe on loan from Man U. And "unnamed" Bundesliga clubs??? Color me skeptical about the quality of the source Henry is talking to re CCV's future (or probably more likely about the quality of information being provided by that source).
While he didn't do so in that tweet, Henry generally keeps saying "a source close to CCV," which I assume means his agent.
Preseason goal just now for Reyna against Bologna. Its going to be an interesting season for Reyna. Can he take "the next step?" Gio Reyna’s preseason goal for Dortmund! (@BVB) pic.twitter.com/PmX4jeKMVQ— USMNT Only (@usmntonly) July 30, 2021
Yeah, that's my assumption as well (and why I included the parenthetical in my post). Looks to me like CCV is his only client playing in the Football League so I can understand why he's desperate to land the biggest move he can (and has plenty of free time to talk to somebody at SBI).

It sure would be nice to have a go to Yanks Abroad team with several Americans on it. Not sure how good a promoted Serie A team will be if it’s counting on guys like Busio, Tessman and Palmer-Brown as their incoming transfers. I like all 3 but none have played at that level yet.
Yeah the more I think about this move the less I like it. Norwich scored 26 goals the last time they were in the EPL. The counter (hopefully a Norwich fan can give more detail) is that they dominated the EFL last season and have already signed rasicha and a couple others (Gilmour from Chelsea), so maybe they're more ready for the EPL this time? Optimists take, for sure.
