I mean we definitely aren't going to be able to play Pulisic and Renya for 90 minutes for three straight qualifiers in a window. There's definitely opportunities to be had for KDLF if he's ready for it.

I have no idea if Wright did bad things or if this is just being angry that the club was backed into a corner but is what he did any worse than his club refusing multiple offers? At least that's what Wright said they did. When a career is on the line and money at stake people are going to be selfish and do what they think is best for themselves.

No idea how this plays out but I'm not sure if anyone is the villain here.

If we stick to a 433, who is the best option to play AM instead of winger. Feels like we are loaded at guys slotted as wingers, but are really really lacking in the midfield. We have Weston and the them oft injured Adams and now injured Musah and then a bunch of Meh

I believe we can slide any of Reyna, Pulisic, or Aaronson into the hole. Not to mention Ledezma if he returns to form. And Clark if he can step up. Plus, there’s Julian Green and still Sebastian Lletget. And we could just go with dual 8’s in Musah and McKennie. Also, I don’t see why we couldn’t add another forward, I.e. Sargent, Hoppe, etc and play a 442 too.

MLS is the villain here, clearly. They didn't allow Wright to leave even when it might have been better for his career.

EDIT: this is completely tongue-in-cheek, if you didn't gather that from the factual information about Wright's career.

Are you suggesting that he should have signed a contract which would allow him to leave at 18 without a transfer fee?

That sort of undermines the point of an academy.

THe team in Turkey he's going to is known not to pay players or transfer fees. So Wright's club being upset with him trying to force a move to a team that has a recent history of not being able to pay transfer and loan fees is not surprising.

The club also has to look out for their interests as well. Wright signed a contract with them after all. Does anyone know if Wright is still represented by Kleiban?

He's represented by Quadrans, which mainly represents Belgian players.

    https://www.transfermarkt.us/quadrans/beraterfirma/berater/8195

Transfermkt says he's on loan to Antalyaspor from SönderjyskE.

A number of the wingers could play one of the dual 8s if we wanted to do that -- Reyna and Aaronson come to mind as players who could keep up defensively if we wanted a stronger offensive lineup.

Otherwise, if you are looking for more of the current role that McKennie and Lletget play -- Musah, of course. Paxton Pomykal. Taylor Booth seems to be coming on strong. Luca de la Torre. Julian Green.

The depth doesn't quite seem as strong if you don't swing down some of the wings, but there are guys.

If Konrad breaks out, he may force Aaronson to move to the midfield group. AND I LIKE IT. I think Aaronson would be the maestro that we were promised.

The Haji Wright situation reminds me a lot of the Fabian Castillo situation.

Do people remember that mess with Tranbzonspor?
Fabian had just signed a new 5 year deal in 2015, but in 2016 he decided it was time to go to Turkey for some reason.

FCD/MLS didn't have a deal with the Turkish club.
At the urging of the Turkish club and his agents................Fabian just left.
Went to Turkey and was treated by the club as if the deal was done.

Essentially, FCD/MLS really couldn't do anything. Did they want Fabian back after that?
No, not really. But the Turkish club couldn't actually pay the transfer fee FCD wanted.
So a $1.5 million 6-month loan deal was negotiated with an option for a permanent transfer later.

People often underestimate the attractiveness of MLS as a destination. That's because foreign clubs can count on MLS clubs to behave with integrity. And most of all, they can count on the fact that MLS will pay.

Just as another example..............Boavista has never paid Dallas or Houston for Cannon and Elis. FCD seems totally flummoxed by it.

    Legal proceedings. CAS?

The Cannon/Elis situation is messed up.
Boavista thought they had a new sugar daddy owner. They guy who also owned Lille.
So then they started splurging by their standards. Cannon was their record transfer.

But the sugar daddy turned out to be a false prophet, even being forced to sell his stake in Lille.

Then Covid hit, and revenues took a plunge.

So....................Boavista can't pay. I don't think its sketchiness in their case. They just can't pay. They don't have the money.

FCD didn't get the initial payment for Cannon.
Then he reached certain incentives, and they weren't paid for those.
Cannon is reportedly for sale, and FCD gets a percentage of that transfer.

So Boavista basically is going to have start selling off players in order to pay the bills for the players in the first place.

We know Cannon wants to get out of there.......................

Assuming Musah isn't available for the September qualifiers, I expect Lletget, de la Torre and Aaronson to get games as 8s.

I talked to Fernando Clavijo after this and he said that they had a deal working with Club America for Castillo after the season was finished but Castillo got bad agent advice and left early. He said they always tried to find a good fit for the player not only monetarily but comfort and since Castillo spoke Spanish they though the Mexican league would be a much better fit than the Turkish league. I think this is wise because it also impacts your future players. If they are seen to succeed it makes your next players more desirable so settling for a bit less can end up making you more eventually.
