Is the reason Mueller didn't get better offers because he doesn't have an EU passport and doesn't qualify for a work permit (insufficient caps)?

Without either of those two things, I think it's pretty tough to get an offer from a top 5 league. Without a EU passport, he's limited to places like Scotland, Denmark, and Belgium. Does Scotland have work permit requirements to the same extent as England?

I do not completely know the answer to the question but I believe before Orlando loaned Dike to Barnsley he only had one cap. It is my understanding that Mueler has three.

I think that only prevents him from UK. the continent has various rules - italy and spain are tough but germany is wide open and pretty sure france is possible, as well. netherlands has a high min salary but def a possiblity as well.

But Dike was a U21 player.

It is easier to get a WP in Scotland via an appeal than it is in England.

mueller's long-game must be the EPL/England.....only way a hibs move makes sense.

Good luck to him, but its gonna be tough.

If I read it right, there isn't an appeal process in England anymore. Scotland still has one, but it's supposed to go away at the end of the summer transfer window.

Biden should put pressure on UK to lax things up for Americans in UK.

As a former colony, we should get more than just any random country. Plus, I'm pretty sure many more brits can play in MLS than the US players can in UK. And players from colonies get all kinds of breaks all over UK/Europe, generally. So it would make "sense" for american players to have more leeway in UK than they currently have, imo.

Im serious. Boris Johnson can call the USA Britain's closest ally...but how are we as citizens benefitting at all from that? we arent.

Any UK players can just waltz right into MLS. they dont need to have any caps with the EMNT. or have a good ranking for england or anything.

The UK should be open to American soccer players - the "closest" ally of the UK.

Many commonwealth countries have special rights in the UK - if that's the case, the US players should, too.

If I was MLS I would put the same conditions on UK players as the UK puts on USMNTers....see how they like it.

if the UK was open to US players, I would predict that scores of americans would be plying there and it would be very beneficial to the USMNT. it should be something that USSF is pushing for.

The president of the United States of America has better things to do with his time than to pressure Britain into allowing our soccer players better access to their leagues.

have you ever heard of delegation of power?

its an idea where the leader instructs others to carry out his wishes. hence, someone under Biden's authority could act on his behalf.

    Hibs interview:

    https://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/article/mueller-following-his-childhood-dream

“As a kid growing up, I felt like I belonged in European football, especially at a club like Hibs with a deep history, culture, and fanbase that care deeply about the game,” says Chris, who has two international caps for the United States.

“I believe I was meant to be somewhere where they live, breathe and die football because that’s how I live my life."

Cove Rangers: a third tier team in Scotland. How good can they be?

Cove Rangers: have won nine in a row, unbeaten since October, and first place in their league. How good might they be?
