10-12 goals and 8-10 assists would put him literally at damn near the top of this league. That isn't "really good", that's EXCELLENT with a capital E through T. The players putting up that kind of numbers in this league are all legit DPs getting paid north of $2M all the way to $6 and 7. If Cade puts up that kind of number (doesn't matter how good or bad the team is), he's not going to be here next year. Period. Honestly at this point the only thing that is enjoyable for me about this year's team is watching Cade and rooting for him. It may be the very last time we see him in a Quakes uniform. If we get lucky, then after 20 years playing elsewhere and making his tens of millions, he'll decide to retire here and play his last season with us. Caden Clark is on that same boat.
If only. But fair enough. I agree it's not as bleak as I insinuated. Though I still don't think Cowell's current tallies portray a very good picture for Americans in 2021 thus far. The Quakes have not been scoring very many goals this year overall, so it is definitely relative. Still, have to wonder how many more goals Cowell could have were he playing in a position that actually made sense. Hopefully he continues to get minutes throughout the rest of the season. The schedule this year is especially brutal, so I also hope he doesn't get himself hurt. At 17, he's should have a better time in recovery than most of the rest of the team, at least.
I keep telling you guys, I saw his leg collapse on him towards the end of the LAG game over Memorial weekend.
An American getting 20 goals a season is incredibly rare, last decade only Wondo (2012) and Dom Dwyer (2014) have done it. 10-12 goals and 8-10 assists is Jordan Morris(2019-2020) territory, who has 39 national team caps as an injury prone 26 year old, though now with Pulisic, Reyna, Weah, Aaronson, KDLF, etc he probably won't get much more.
Everyone understands Cade is young and has a lot to learn, but these "someday he'll be a good player" kinds of quotes kind of rub me the wrong way. I mean, he's leading the team in scoring and the first MLS player to 4g, 4a. Chofis has 3g, 1a. OK, well, he's already an important player for the Quakes as their points leader, and having a goal or assist on over half of the Quakes goals? Just a thought. To be fair I took this a little out of context, because then he said something about him doing a great job and they will learn together. Still, the point is, Cade has been the Quakes best attacking player this year, easily. I don't know about "great" yet, but on the "Quakes scale", i.e. relatively speaking, he is already doing great. I mean, seems like he could score a hat trick in the next game, and Matias's postgame comments would be "yeah, someday he'll do what I ask him to do and he'll be an important player for us".
If Cade only doubles his current production to 8g and 8a, that will be a great season. He has better than half a season to do that. But, because Almeyda will continue to play him on the wing, rather than as a striker. So probably he’ll get more assists than goals going forward. (Unless, Matías switches him back to striker.) The best thing for Cade of course, would be for him to get traded to a better team with better coaches. Hopefully, we’ll just start playing two strikers. GO Quakesfans!! - Mark
Cade's numbers will inevitably go up as the Quakes will rely on him to do so. He's our best player. I think we will see the Cade and Chofis (our second best player) connection continue to develop as the season progresses. Hopefully we can keep Cade for next year (or even just a part of next year).
Follow the thread, bobby. mj made a comment on Cade's leg "collapsing" on him during a recent game. I joked about him having "CLS" "Collapsing Leg Syndrome". She then responded that we should take this more serious. I then posted the meme's of other people with "collapsing leg syndrome". She then joked about me getting all those videos of my family. I then jokingly responded that it was actually a Cowell family reunion, intimating that Cade's "CLS" was hereditary. Was that really a little too tough for you? For the record, I don't think Cade has any problems with his leg(s), I think mj probably just saw him catch a cleat or something and stumble. And "CLS" is not a thing, (to my knowledge) I just made that up. As a joke. Those people in the video's were obviously just drunk.
#USMNT CAMP UPDATE: ➤ Defender Walker Zimmerman has been ruled out of #GoldCup21 with a hamstring strain.➤ Defender Henry Kessler and forward Cade Cowell will begin training with the team on Wednesday in Dallas. (1/2)— U.S. Soccer Men's National Team (@USMNT) July 21, 2021 Yup no Cade tomorrow
Woohoo! This is what I was hoping for, but I didn't believe that Gregg would actually do it. Now he had better see the field if he's forced to miss two Quakes games.
He will be cap tied if he does. Could file one time switch still, but Mexico couldn’t call him into a camp until the switch is made,
Please! Chofis isn’t our second or even fourth best player. Cade, Jackson, Remedi, Judson, Shea, Nathan, Espinoza even in his less productive form contributes more to the team’s attack that Chubis. Chubis has had three excellent moments with us, but beyond that, he’s nearly invisible. Good to see Cade getting a shot with the Gnats. Hopefully, he bags a goal or two. With better service he should be productive. Go Cade!!! Go Quakesfans!! - Mark
I love the part in the clip where he breaks Hedges ankles so bad he practically falls over the endline...couldn't happen to a nicer guy... the deft back post chip was pretty stellar...all this at 17 years old. I don't see him being with us after this season though. I hope GB adds him for the GC. I'd be happy just to see him subbed in late in the games blowing past defenders. Actually his touch right now is probably better than Dike's...Go for it GB, cap tie him...and play Cade and Dike up top...Have Mercy!
